I really believe Warren is an all time top10 guitarist.
Definitely 1 of my all time favorites,He’s like a chameleon,he can play anything & any style 🤟🏻
Stop it.
This is simply amazing. Combing 2 of my all time favorite masterpieces. Hendrix meets Page and the meeting went very well.
1983 is really (unfortunately) a relatively obscure Hendrix work of art.
On second thought... nothing unfortunate about it. It's reserved for those of us who look beneath the surface a little and always around that next corner.
Esoteric Music
1968 - the original - the record co. executive:
"So hey, Jimi - how about you cut the crap, stop goofing around and give us the 3-minute AM radio single version?" Yep - l prolly woulda died too.
Amen 🙏
There is nothing Gov't Mule can not play ... unbelievable how versatile the guys are!! The best band in the world, yes!!!
...another testament of how great Hendrix and Zeppelin were ;) ...and how grateful musicians/bands like Gov't Mule are..
I hadn't listened to the original in quite a while, and actually teared up a little when I heard this... one of my absolute favorite Hendrix tunes, and so well done by Warren. But, what doesn't he do well? An incredible talent, with impeccable taste. Rock on, Warren Haynes and Gov't Mule!
Phred Peterson Hell yeah!
Best band in the land.
planet
This is one concert I would love to have been at, the music is so Healing to me.
Great cover of this great tune. I've never seen anybody else try to cover it before, that takes guts. Jimi would be so proud of this.
I like the way he just did his own version, didn't try to be Hendrix. The cover of No Quarter was great too. Warren Haynes and the Mule prove there is hope for the future of music.
Absolutely right
Warren is King. End of story.
"Gotta get behind the Mule" Warren is the Man.
The slow part of 1983 always put a tear in my eye it's just so beautiful sounding especially the original. :)
yeah, jimi often brings tears to my eyes tho so does warren
What BALLS to do 1983 live and do it fucking KILLER!!!!
Warren rockin´ a Strat... made my day
I dont come back to this enough.
There is nothing these guys cant slay.
1983!!!!!
No Quarter!!!!!!
Mountain Jam!!!!!
3 favorite bands
3 top 5 songs!!!!!
This segment is flawless!! Jimi and Jimmy would be proud!! Holy crap!!
Great playing on Hendrix tune. Rare to see someone play it. Great job.
Boy oh boy, that takes nerve, tryin' 1983 live. But Warren he never steps back from a challenge, does he? god bless him! And what a righteous version!
Absolutely. Well said.
not only a great player but exquisite taste, pulling Jimi's and LZ's best together.
This is incredible!
My face just melted.
Wow ! What a excellent guitarist.
Pretty cool seeing Warren play a Stratocaster. It looks weird in his hands being such a Gibson man.
I guess you've never watched any allman brothers stuff
Wow... two of my favorite songs recreated by the MULE! Awesome music!
The whole audience is in a trance for No Quarter! Govt. Mule Rules
They're so good in their live videos! I can't wait to see them live!
Amazing. Warren you're the man! Thanks for all the amazing music.
WHAT A GREAT JAM!!!!
Wow blow our minds man that is a sacred song from hendrix
One of my favorite Jimi tunes!
hell yeah this man is real on top of al guitar players Otherworldly greeetz from saltcastle
hell yeahh!!!!!! i saw them at peach fest 2014 wish i was there to see 1983 though!
Warren MF'n Haynes ladies and gentlemen.
Warren is a true gatekeeper of the old classics. He honestly plays as well as the originals.
I'm surprised that strat didn't catch on fire
Susan Reed
It did. I was there. I saw it. Tricks of the camera
Gov't Mule, sin duda mi banda favorita, los he visto en varias ocasiones y nunca defraudan.Wayne me parece un guitarrista com mayusculas, impresionante
jimi hendrix was a paratrooper in the 101st airborne. he loved our country. dont forget that
Govt Mule sounds very good, no matter which tune they play.
Very Amazing post. THANKS
Completely outstanding!
Badassery from start to finish
Amazing
That hendrix tune scrapes the border of existence and everything we know.
Jimi would approve.
Cymbaline713 page or hendrix?
AWESOME!!!
Im just smilin
Those Lace Sensor pick-ups tho!! Just bought a strat with those pick-ups and boy do they make a world of difference!
Majestic man!
See, Hendrix tribute festival/concert stuff. Here is a proper Hendrix selection frikkin well done.
Heavenly
Incredible cover by Gov't Mule of Hendrix Merman. It's a song about Atlantis, a bit extra terrestrial considering it has been said that Aliens have dwellings inside the Earth under the sea. I'm a Gov't Mule fan.
Dr. Haynes bringing it!!!
excellent rock
Jimi Hendrix Mix -------------love it........
WOW!!
I love the quality and direction of this video. It is how it should be done, none of those .42 second shots that nobody can pay attention to. Let the camera linger for a bit, get in the mood some. Wonderful work. Thank you.
Holy shit! No quarter asked ... no quarter given!
love me some mule !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just realize the influence of Hendrix in Pink Floyd.
+Malapersona maybe likewise :)
They all influenced each other in the '60s, that's why it was such an electric period in music. Everyday something new.
Happy Fucking Birthday Matt Abts !!! Holy Shit !!!!!!
#peacelovemusic
adore this song; absolutely one of my faves..!
although .. the manner in which my brain's 'wired' l listened so many times to Jm's recording l know each nuance ..and always hear that (sort of) same time someone else plays one of his.
(no idea if that made sense a' course)...
many ..Recreational Chemicals during the late '60's (70's) and uh ..my poor brain maybe isn't wired as most people's are.. ;)
Jane Millerick those recreational chemicals made us who we are by opening doors that we hadn't seen before
@@janemillerick9614 There's now a couple of OTHER legit live Allman Bros. w/Duane albums - Atlanta Pop Festival, and a radio show recording. but... But... BUT: Duane plays the solos WRONG!!! God, the nerve of some of these people.
cool jam
Happy fucking 56th Warren !
Doing the hippy dance wooooooooooo
21:19... exhales of a large amount of smoke... hmm...
"1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)" wow, hadn't heard this one in a few years, brings back some memories, like the time i stole "electric ladyland" from a department store, along with grand funk railroad's "live" album, santana's abraxis, and deep purple's "machine head". of course i couldn't stop there, had to keep stealing records until i finally got caught by store security. i would buy one or two, then browse the store and put more records in the special record bag they gave, and walk out. i got careless.
i begged mom not to tell dad because i was afraid of him, he gave me this speech, "you don't need to steal, we can buy you whatever you want." i'm thinking yeah right, you're gonna buy me acid rock records in 1972?!" i did get a job bagging groceries that summer and bought a kick ass stereo with the money.
I wasn't expecting to see him play no quarter on a strat. But that's ok because he sounds like himself with any guitar
word
King Warren!! Dilly Dilly!!
9:07-12:00 is why I love Warren...if you arent getting off here nothing gets you off
when I hear warren on a strat It just seems right!
Warren is a musician’s musician.
I've the lead on no quarter!
Best waaren Haynes friend musician hunrdred years Warren thank you Avery much,zb.N.Y.city.
Warren Haynes. Wow.
Where was this? I'd have loved to experience this. What a gig!
02oxygenman mountain jam. It's an annual Warren Haynes festival in the Catskill mountains in New york
Well, you certainly covered the credits well, down to the audio techs. How about a mention of the band members?
There be fire codes against smokin like that Haynes...
doing some string bending
somebody explain to me how he does this ?
gents this is how the sub service does it . . . no hate clouds your mind . . move with resolve and REPULSE
do these guys primarily do covers?
You're kiddin'? :-D
Nope. It's a reasonable question though
uhuhuh406 Ok, then you should search a little here on youtube and you'll find tons of their great own stuff. My personal faves are their lp's: Gov't Mule, Dose, Life Before Insanity, Deep End, Dejá Voodoo and Shout...but they did lots of more stuff and way more live stuff. One of the greatest bands ever, you'll see/hear! :)
uhuhuh406
Check out 'captured' from this same set. It may have actually been the song played right before this monstrosity. It's an original, and Warren fucking slays it.
Great covers but it does sound like Warren to me..Do they have any original songs ? I would like to hear some:)
They have like 13-14 albums out of original material.
ohio mule sez holy bajeevers
Warren. That is all.
Owen Longbottom hasn't a clue.
Love it but can't beat the original.
Warren never intends to be better that the original, only to put their interpretation on it. No Quarter is one of their best. Led Zep will not be back, so we have to love the interpretations we get.
of course it can't, Warren will never be as sloppy as Page!
I am talking about 1983 by Hendrix. You might not be familiar with this song as it isn't well known but I am very familiar. I love that he even tried to cover it. I am a big fan of Warrens. I own many DVD's and Cd's of Government Mule and by the way I did say love it but I just love the original more.
Not even Hendrix did the song live... It's basically a studio sing, the fact they even tried to cover it is incredible.
That is true. In fact I think he may have played
bass on it.
That fat guy with the strat is pretty good! If he lost some tonnage & got a decent guitar, he might amount to something.
piano ruined no quarter
John Paul Jones played the piano in No Quarter....
ya no shit is this jpj playing? no
Owen longbottom everybody's a fucking critic...
