I watched this 6 months ago when I lived in England, this inspired my family to want to go even more. Now I'm living in Stanley Falklands. It's as beautiful as he says it is.
Similar latitude to northern England, but due to the strong westerly airflow around Antarctica, the climate is colder, similar from stats I've seen to say the Shetlands, to the north of Scotland. A typical Summer's day in Stanley averages 14-16 deg C, Winter about 4-6 deg C. Both island groups are windswept and treeless.

You’re right they are very special. I was fortunate enough to be deployed to the Falklands on three occasions between 1990 and 2007 whilst in the British Forces. Fantastic memories, I do hope Roddy and Lilly are well as I recalled staying with them for one night as I was met the following morning by one of the first cruise ships, the Enterprise as I recall. With the constant harassment the Falklanders face from Argentina, they love someone like you showing to the world what the Falklands really are, so British.
Visited the Faklklands in 2015. This is a most excellent and beautiful documentary! Of all the places, it's the small homes with baby lambs kept in the yard (for bottle feeding) and the farm kitchens and cozy pubs. At one of these in Stanley, I asked the barman some history questions; he suggested I go ask one of the patrons and I introduced myself and was invited by the elder patron to join him for lunch. He was Governor Rex Hunt's driver when the invasion of 1982 occurred. I listened to his story, but the 1982 conflict was the least of his memories: he sailed for years in a trawler protecting transatlantic convoys during WW2. As understated as the Islands themselves. The people and the wildlife of the Falklands are beautiful: no desire but to live where they live in harmony with all. Don't miss the accurate to scale model of the solar system which extends many hundreds of meters along a trail by the shipwreck bay, with a sun the size of a huge beachball and an earth the size of a small marble!
Great footage of the islands in genral, but I would liked to have also seen what life is like in the small towns. Meet the people and see what the shops and stores are like. Street scenes would have also been nice.
What a great video! I loved how you want to several places there not just Port Stanley. The photography and editing are both top notch! It seems like the weather was clear while you were there. I heard there is a lot of rain and it’s very cold. The scenery looked beautiful. Weird to think of visiting a place where maybe no human has ever set foot at least on parts of the islands.
@panfriedd You're just a hater, I've seen several comments of yours and you need to stop. People are telling their family stories who the fuck are you to tell them anything.
I served 4 months in the RAF in The Falklands in 1992. I loved it. Spent 4 days with a family they were lovely people and treated me like a son.....God bless them.
I find is astonishing just how similar the Falklands are to the west coast of Scotland. Apart from the colourful tin roofs, the penguins and the sea lions there would be no way of telling them apart. The climate and clouds, the gorse, the sheep, the colour of the grass and silver sand, the type of rock, the heather and peat (I didn’t even know peat existed outside of Scotland!), the what we would call “lochans” basically small ponds in the peat, the cold, deep blue of the water and the white foam when it crashes over the yellow lichen covered coastline, the empty sandy beaches and dunes, the species of seaweed, the old land rovers bumping over tiny moorland tracks, and even the windswept fences crisscrossing the landscape. Fascinating.
Peat is also very common in the West of Ireland, i used to stay on a farm there as a nipper, and they would use peat for everything, cooking, heating , this was in the early 80's
I worked in Stanley 2014 till May 2018. All I can say is a beautiful and peaceful country. I still remember we made a snow carving (pokemon, family penguin, a tall lion and a dragon) along the Ross road east.

Leo_ Martinez you are incorrect. Argentina did not exist when the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands was established. Proximity does not matter. The inhabitants choose to remain British and they are supported by international law. I wish no harm to the good people of Argentina.
Steve Korbey that’s not correct, when Argentina gain independence the islands were occupied by Spain, and after that Argentinians were living there until England invade it again.
I'm a Brit living in Scotland, I'm absolutely fascinated by the Falklands and its history, its such a dream of mine to visit and see the wildlife with my little girl. Even more so now having watched this brilliant video. Does it cost a lot for the rides on those small Red planes?
I've just come back from a two week trip to FI visiting family. My brother settled there after meeting and marrying a local 15 years ago whilst on a TOD with the Royal Navy. Loved it and loved the wildlife. And the STARS! Wow! Coming from a heavily light polluted Europe, I was in awe of the super starry nights and being able to clearly see the edge of the Milky Way on a clear night; beautiful! Wasn't too keen on the bumpy roads but you can't have everything
Awesome video! I've just spent the last six months working in the Falkland Islands. It's such a beautiful place and I feel lucky to have been able to explore the islands like you have in your video. I cannot recommend this place enough, especially for the wildlife. Great to see you did some of the battlefield tours. My tour of Mt Longdon was one of the highlights of my time there.
@Agustin Vicencio Really? Because in 1982 Argentina invaded the islands which is sovereign British territory. The settlers aren’t the pirates the Argentines are for stealing our territory
Beautiful place. Did you consider a side trip to South Georgia while you were there? There's a small village there. An Argentine submarine was caught there and sunk by the Royal Navy during the 1982 war. The Falkland Islands Dependency consists of a huge archipelago of other uninhabited islands demarcating the Scotia Sea. Are there any memorials or relics from the Falklands Battle of World War I when Admiral Graf Spee attempted to seize Stanley, only to meet with disaster?
Really great video! You showcased the beauty and ruggedness of the islands so well. The rock hoppers are so rad and the albatross colony looks like a cool place to hang out. We hope to sail there one day! Keep up the great work with your videos!
I stopped by the Falklands on the way around on a singlehanded circumnavigation in my 33' sailboat, but only stopped long enough to fill my water tanks as it cost $200. to clear customs and I didn't think it was worth it for a short visit. It was very late in the season anyway so the weather was less than pleasant so far south.
Thank you very much. Fantastic video! I was there 7 - 8 years ago. Our 2d stop on a cruise round the Horn. We only had one day. And I remember visiting a penguin colony. I would have loved to see the albatroses. It was december. So summer down there. But only 5 - 8°C and windy.
@@luciano2003. Hi Luciano! No no, not a job. I was on holiday. With Holland America's "Zaandam". A cruise from Buenos Aires to Montevideo, Las Malvinas, Punta Arenas, Ushuaia, Puerto Montt and Valparaiso. Very exciting.
I like the way you edited this. You filmed and concentrated on what was going on and did most of your commentary after you filmed. Which I think is better for this wildlife based video.
Brilliant video. Honest and unbiased regarding it's history and stunning images. I lived there for 9 months in 2000 and have great memories of it. You've made a genuinely truthful video, it's just like you said 👍
Oh wow what a stunning place, I’ve always wanted to visit the Falklands and I do even more so now. Looks very similar to Western Ireland too, awesome 👌 Great video, keep up the good work 👍👏👏👏
@Agustín vicencio They have never been and will never be Argentinian. Your soldiers were defeated and sent back to that dump you live in. Whether they were alive or not.
Seriously impressive! Both the video and the Falklands themselves. Just learned a lot! The hiking and kayaking looks fantastic, but simply taking all those little planes around the various spots seems like an awesome adventure unto itself. Would love to see those elephant seals, king penguins, and the rock hoppers. But what I couldn't believe though is all those albatross! I once saw 2-3 albatross, from a distance at that, and thought that was pretty special. Can't imagine seeing them in those numbers and so close! So cool! Hope to make it down there someday to experience those Falkland feels you describe.
They are definitely worth a visit. You can pair them with a cruise to Antartica or around the bottom of South America - but I think to truly see the Falklands you need to spend at least a week or two on land!

I visited the Falklands in 1986 as a serving member of the british army. Stationed at Mount Pleasant, I had a very special time there or my 104 day tour. I visited Sea Lion Island, and stayed on Saunders Island. my daily trip from camp was to Mare harbour where I fished, walked and even took a skinny dip in the ocean from Bertha's beach. While I was out for a run I noticed a pod of Commerson's dolphins following me in the surf! I dived into the surf and the dolphins swam away. It was one of my coldest swims I can remember. It was a surreal experience being there after the war working and but also having lots of free time to explore the Islands. Thank you for your video, It brought back fond memories of my time there all those years ago.
I NEVER tougth I would say this....but now I want to move to the Falklands. But on my budget it is a looong journey. I will have to swim from Norway. :D
hey man, im heading to the falklands this december. how do you get in contact with the local guide for tours around these islands around the falklands. I'd love to take a visit to all these islands you've visited here in this video.
I did most of my adventure activities with Falklands Outdoors, they are a great local company. I just looked at their site and they don't have everything listed that I did, but if you reach out to them I think you can still arrange something custom with them. They primarily service Stanley and tours from there, for other islands most tours would be arranged through your accommodation I found. Have a great trip, its such an interesting place!
My grandad fought in the falklands war in 1982 and his still alive to share his stories. I was born in 1981. Thanks for sharing it looks beautiful and I’m So glad we was able to keep our territory. They’re just as British as we are on the mainland 🇬🇧
They receive tourists from all over the world and it is absolutely worth it. I hope to go again one day but it is expensive and quite some distance. For you it will be a much cheaper and shorter flight: from Chile I believe the route via air is? Are you Argentine? If so then they will be wary of your intentions but as long as you respect the fact you are in the Falklands and not Las Malvinas then the islanders will be kind to you

Wasn't too keen on the bumpy roads but you can't have everything

glorious location - and the people are special also.
Are the natives there friendly? Are there many restaurants and shops in Stanley?
Awesome video! I've just spent the last six months working in the Falkland Islands. It's such a beautiful place and I feel lucky to have been able to explore the islands like you have in your video. I cannot recommend this place enough, especially for the wildlife. Great to see you did some of the battlefield tours. My tour of Mt Longdon was one of the highlights of my time there.
@Agustin Vicencio Falklands*
@Agustin Vicencio *British islands
@Agustin Vicencio the people there wanted to be British
@Agustin Vicencio they voted to be British
I would have loved to, however, I didn't make it there on this trip, but it's super high on my list!

Sounds like an amazing trip! I think it would have been worth a stop, but I'm sure the weather was a challenge. Safe sailing!
The best video of the islands! Big hug from Argentina

The scientists studying the sea lions named and marked them for tracking. It's not permanent and not harmful to the animal.

Great video, keep up the good work 👍👏👏👏
@Agustín vicencio They have never been and will never be Argentinian.

Thanks for putting this video out there. Beautiful and rugged, simple way of life.🐑🐧
I visited the Falklands in 1986 as a serving member of the british army.
It's a special place! I can't even imagine how interesting it would have been to visit in the 80's, post war! Hope you make it back again some time!

Nice drone work. Guess you had to pick the days you could fly being that the winds so high and constantly blowing.
Nah, just send it! Modern drones are incredibly capable of handling winds. I packed two drones, but never had a need for the backup.

Really good camera work. Sounds like you had a great time. Looking forward to more of your videos.
