Kudos to Larry Klein (bass) & Steuart Smith (guitar) for complementing Shawn exceptionally well on this stunning performance. LOVE IT! Oh, and Shawn is sublime perfection, as usual!
Colvin's control of her guitar patterns is equally as good as her fellow musicians, the great Klein and Smith.
Of all the bands, individuals that I have had the pleasure of seeing live, I thank Mother Earth the most for Shawn Colvin. Damn what a talent ❤❤❤

I love this song. I remember buying the cassette when the album came out and playing it over and over until the tape snapped.
As the clock ticks constantly, stretching the future far ahead of us and more and more and more art is created, our children's children will not have time to experience all of it. Therefore, only the best of the best will be remembered and revered. I feel comforted knowing Shawn will no doubt be in that collection.

First saw Shawn in 1989 at Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder Colorado. One of those nights you never forget...

I've been a fan of Shawn's since seeing her on a "Hitchhiker's Music Special" singing from her first album with dyed black hair. But this W54th recording is the absolute best, and having heard this and "Diamonds in the Rough" I would just LOVE to get a copy of the whole show. The whole band is so tight and well-recorded that I would cherish it immensely. That bass is a whole special dimension that we can't get out of her solo performances, and Steuart is the Accent Master.

I've always found Shawn Colvin to be an absolute first class top of the line folk singer and top notch folk guitarist. Her phrasing and beautiful-beautiful choice of chords make her extremely special in my opinion. Shawn is unique (in a very good way) just like I find Leo Kottke to be extremely unique (also in a very good way). I would recognize Shawn Colvin's music just like I would recognize Leo Kottke's music immediately. I know that their styles are very different, but I still put them in the wonderful Folk Music categories...and Leo's guitar playing is just on another level. I find Shawn's guitar music to be deep, dark, rich, and just beautiful (to the point of inducing goosebumps), and I can think of no higher compliment to give her. I miss both of the aforementioned artist, although (as far as I know, they are both still with us), I wonder what they are doing musically these days. I believe both of these two musicians are too very-very special to just fade away.
Seeing her in concert is on my post-COVID list of things to do. I just ordered two of her more recent albums.

Perfect melancholy song. This performance is amazing. When you listen to the base, slide guitar as individuals performances, they enhance with such subtle nuances that just fit together. The timing of each instrument fills into Shawn's vocals and guitar playing. The mix is perfect. Everything is at the correct volume level and trio compliment each other perfectly. Feel like a nice pair of well worn jeans. Like a glove!!!

Absolutely breathtaking.
I saw her in London at the Jazz Cafe, donkeys years ago, and she was almost drowned out by drinkers at the bar. Probably only 300 there. Commentators saying about the bass player, is it a musician thing? Because you could take him out and I wouldn't even notice. Just Shawn and the other guitarist is all thats needed.
