"electrons were discovered with a device called a cathode ray tube". This device includes a battery. How did they invent the battery before they discover the electrons?? inventing the battery means they should know some physics concepts like voltage, current etc. How did they come up with these concepts before discovering the electrons? it doesnt make any sense someone explain please.
Read the article attached to this link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_battery As best as I can figure out, people already knew how to generate sparks from static electricity. From there, tinkerers tried to find ways to store this magical energy in different materials, such as metals, metals submerged in salt water, etc. This storage of static electricity is what lead to the first batteries. The concepts of voltage and current were created to explain the phenomena associated with the early batteries. They probably noticed that energy flowed or came out of the battery, and maybe came up with voltage and current to describe the amount and strength of the invisible fluid (electricity) that came out of the battery.
this is so helpful! thanks! i cannot find lectures like these anymore! i actually understand chemistry now!! :)

@@richardlouiechemistrylectures thanks
i can not find lecture 1.....you should arrange your lessons
For a numbered list of lectures, go to www.richardlouie.com. I list all the chemistry lectures from 1 to 104.
