- This latest January 2025 "C" release optional update improves the previews that show when you hover over apps on the taskbar, an icon will appear in the system tray when you use an app that supports Windows Studio Effects, adds the new Simsun-ExtG simplified Chinese font, when you right-click items in the File Explorer left pane, the “New Folder” command appears on the context menu, you can now change time zones in Settings without being an admin. It also includes four File Explorer fixes, three Mouse fixes, fixes Digital/Analog converter known issue, fixes USB audio device drivers, fixes USB cameras, fixes High dynamic range (HDR) and more. The update pushes version 24H2 to Build 26100.3037.

I had the same problem as you with downloading KB5050094. The updates KB5050577 and KB5035942 were downloaded and installed, but not KB5050094. I restarted my PC 3 times, and finally the download of the update started. It took a very long time, which I have not experienced before. Everything looks fine here now. Thank you so much for the information.
5:48 I have noticed when I was playing a game on January 6th when the mouse cursor disappeared I didn't know that was a bug? But good that was fixed

My PC dosn't need these fix's because I didn't install the updates that would break it in the first place, This is a ridiculous situation that MS have done
You are a smart end-user. The best windows system that I run, is the one that havent been updated.
For me this update has caused two issues that i can tell. The first one is that the blue loading circle is every now and then loading for no reason next to the mouse cursor. The second one is that the PC sometimes takes two button presses to enter sleep mode or to wake up from it. Both are Windows related. I know that because i tried to revert the update and then the problems were gone.
Recently got the .Net framework bug fixes as well but not the regular bug fixes makes it wonder if it's taking a long time for them to show up

On one of my PCs the update failed, after a restart the update didn't show up again, so I to download it manually.
Can we just take a minute to laugh at the concept of an 'optional' bug-fix update?... You: "Hey! Would you like an update that will fix some of those pesky Microsoft Windows bugs?" Me: "No, thanks. I'll opt out. I like the bugs!"... Please... :(
Windows 11 continues to be the biggest disaster that Microsoft has ever pushed out the door. How many systems, like mine are stuck forever on old versions (22H2) of it because after automatically upgrading to it from Windows 10 - it'll not upgrade it to 23H2 or 24H2 for no particular reason other than some absurd hardware requirements that clearly aren't necessary or valid? Proof once again that Windows goes in "good release, bad release" cycles - but frankly 12 looks even worse than 11 - so what are they trying to do, drive 75% of the systems on the planet to Linux instead? Time for someone at Microsoft to pull their collective heads out of their rear ends and deliver systems that don't require expensive new hardware requirements for features like Copilot and Recall that no one in their right mind needs or wants!
So true, windows 11 been such a redundant mess of an OS so far, too much Ai bull etc. 🙄 I rarely use Windows 11 , I instead use windows 10, Linux and Android alot
My taskbar previews are different. they are like yours except for now the top border is the same Height/width as the sides and bottom. looks good.
Been Using Windows 11 24H2 for 3 days and There's no problem with my PC, Games Perfectly Run without any issues
what about the large view/list view/etc etc window , does it goes upside or downside ??

Followed your link to the MS Update Catalog, and searched for KB5050094. There are two results, but they both are listed in Greek! 🤷♂
Just do a search for Microsoft update catalogue online...the one link is for x64 (most will use this option) and another for ARM based devices.

since the 24H2 update the startup sound plays when i shut my pc down , and it doesn't play while starting up . i wished they fix this problem . if anyone can help i would be grateful

It still breaks DLSS. DLSS (I have Nvidia RTX 4080 Super) was working perfectly. After update, it's broken across any game that had it set up.
chkdsk /f will not run on my laptop
It says a disk check is scheduled upon statup then it goes to the logon without checking the file system
U have to press y to confirm and then restart pc to let it happen it happens only on restart
Been trying to install this update for almost an hour. Downloads fine, but like some other users, my system will completely lock up after about 10 minutes of use.. regardless of what's being done on the system.
This issue is preventing it getting to the end of the installation procedure. Microsoft REALLY messed up this update. I am primarily a macOS user, I only have the PC for security equipment and I realised that on Sunday it just stopped running. Had to perform a hard reset and noticed that this would happen time after time.
Went to Google, seen others have this issue and it was also not possible for me to uninstall that update. This "fix" should things, but if you cannot install it... how does someone expect to get things working again?

@ I had to do a full fresh install of Windows 11.. everything was fine... but get this..
It immediately started trying to download this update again!! You can stop it by killing the Windows Update service in "Services"... and I wanted to turn on "Pause Updates"...
But APPARENTLY, that option is greyed out because "To help keep your device secure, get the latest updates - then you'll be able to pause again."
I guess I have no choice but to have this buggy update installed on the system.. I'll see whether it dies again after the update.
I can't believe MS are even allowing this update to continue being distributed.

If you don’t want it yet, roll back.
Quite a few fixes then only to have yet another bug hinder its users, in-other words, they fix one bug and another bug occurs. Sounds like Microsoft loves to play cat & mouse and yet this is their operating system.

Please dont update latest Win11 update created bugs causing audio issues on many of our pcs. Audio playback issues on systems with USB audio device drivers.

I never install preview's. | just wait for the regular monthly update.
Doesnt work for 24H2 for me. Wants permanently to reboot. Win11 is a crime to users.
To alleviate the windows update problem buy a MAC to use MAC OS or just used Linux. Problem solved. I have some audio projects and I cant finished them because of Microsoft updates. Unbelievable.
