I think it’s less about being on multiple show and more about being the exact same voice. It’s like seeing The Rock vs seeing Gary Oldman. The Rock has some good movies but it’s kinda hard to tell his roles apart sometimes. Gary Oldman has variety with unique performances for his roles.

Like Ken Ichijouji and Uryu Ishida sharing the same dubbed voice actor, although it was more funny than cool. Oddly enough I never looked into who voiced my favorite Digimon and it turned out that Dukemon shared the same voice actor as Goku, not dubbed this time. It's neat when characters who are and aren't really similar have something tying them together.

I don't get whats to bad about it honestly. I don't get why it was so bad about Chris pratt as Garfield (not an anime, but an example). Japan casts the same people in their dubs, so why is English dub any different? Zach is pretty great as tanjiro. Aleks Le is pretty great and hilarious as zenitsu as well, he has a great acting and vocal range compared to when he was in the Yuffie DLC of Final fantasy 7 "remake". I didn't know ciel from black butler was voice by a woman (Brina Palencia) back then. She has great vocal range playing as a 13 year old boy. And Daman Mills, the English voice actor for lyney from genshin impact. He also voices Blade from honkai star rail, vocals were EXCALLENT! He can voice a 16 year old kid, to sounding like a deep and ruthless adult.
People will never understand how better English dub is. They only care about bad Japanese voices

Knt you can see. I’m worried too but every art and animation (though a bit slower) they’ve released so far looks wonderful. Plus the manga is already perfectly ended so if it sucks I’ll survive haha. But even the bands and musicains responsible for the soundtrack and ost are confirmed back.

If I'm wrong, fair enough.
I won't deny that in some cases, having a dub in your language can enhance the experience of certain media, but personally, I think experiencing something in it's native language, whatever it may be, allows us to have a deeper connection to it. Language is one of the major ways we communicate culture, and changing that inevitably causes something to be lost that I would rather keep.
And now that it's come out that, in the US at least, translators, localizers, and dub script writers have drastically edited and changed dialogue to suit their political agenda to the point that it can actually change the story, I have lost all trust when it comes to these people, so there's also that.

    It’s actually 2 things:
    1. American dub actors don’t generally have rich deep voices. It makes powerful “large” or wise characters feel cheap. Kurama is a good example.
    2. English doesn’t translate well. People who speak English don’t really talk the way a Manga is read when translated. There are too many ways to say something. English is full of so much slang and unique phrases. So, I feel that actors are handcuffed trying to give some flavor while also staying close to the script.
I feel that the best fix would be letting dub actors do their own thing. Stretch scenes to allow a sentence to finish and it’ll feel a lot better and less hokey.
The only issue is that costs money.
So! Idk. I would hope that they toss more money into English dub and find more VAs with deep manly voices.
The guy who voiced Kratos (most recent games) would be nice. The bald guy from Whiplash.
Sir Ian Mikellan. Actually for that matter how about bringing in more UK VAs. That would help fill in the holes and add something interesting.
Any accents really would be nice.

    • @dewbs96
      @dewbs96 4 місяці тому +17

      I was wrong it’s 3 things.
      3. Immersion. A big reason why Sub sounds/feels better is that you have no context as an non native speaker to hear the hokey dialogue. Instead you are engaged with the story simply going off of tonality to build the personality of the character that you are watching.
When you listen in your native tongue, it sounds silly & that’s partly due to VA’s not being that good OR culturally “cartoons” aren’t taken as seriously in a dramatic format. Animation has usually been used for comedy or children’s entertainment.

In Japanese dubs you have the exact same group of voice actors constantly being shuffled around and voice acting characters that they have no right to be voice acting. Where as with the Japanese voice actors the talent pool is significantly larger, so even though a small number of highly regarded voice actors DO often get casted in multiple different anime it is not to the same degree that we see it happening in dubs.

In Japanese he sounds kinda happy that he gets to toy with something, like he’s picking legs off an ant, idk something crazy like that, but he sounds very calm and to an extent excited. Ahh of course because every Japanese VA has a completely unique voice for every character they play and every dub VA has the exact same voice and cadence for all their characters

Both Suwabe and Koyasu have an extremely wide range of characters they portray while always delivering a quality work. They are popular for a reason.

Exactly, I feel like seiyuus is something a lot of anime fans don't know about, I've read people in the comments saying yhh he does mostly action or mostly horror. How are they not realising more "action" seiyuus also have singing/comedy careers

IKR? I was floored when I learned that Junichi Suwabe was voicing Seofon/Siete from Granblue Fantasy because he sounds like he has a punchable face, and I was so used to his Aomine Daiki's voice

Such a wonderful song ❤ the instrumental is so harsh and dreamy at the same time, and I love how the singing stays low-profile all the way through, it really captures those feelings of loneliness and rejection so perfectly. Way to start an amazing album!!!
