Baroness Extended Live Version of "Borderlines"
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 кві 2019
- Before sludge-prog quartet Baroness wrapped up their co-headlining run with Deafheaven, Revolver dropped in on a few of the West Coast tour dates to film John Baizley, Gina Gleason and Co. unveiling the first single from their highly anticipated upcoming fifth LP, 'Gold & Grey,' “Borderlines.” The dynamic song features tons of harmonized, atmospheric riffage from Baizley and Gleason, and absolutely crushes live. Watch this seven-minute extended live version to see the dual-guitar pair in action (and catch a few glimpses into the band's offstage antics, as well).

Criminally underrated band.
just meh
@@8Junio76 I want to make love to Gina Gleason as she shreds on the guitar
Agree
I'd say that's a bit of an overstatement, since they're not what you'd call "groundbreaking". I mean, granted, it's an interesting band, but a lot of the music is somewhat depressive and mediocre.
Still not over how much Gina has made this amazing band EVEN BETTER.
same here, what a adition
Ur trippin Pete was incredible
Love pete but Gina Is Simply incredible
@@jakeybball Yeah Pete was incredible, but she has filled the shoes and adds something unique to the band. 99% of pro guitarists couldn't fit as well as she does in this band.
Definitely tripping. She can't come close to Pete or Brian
Nick doesn't get enough love in any of these videos. Gina and John shredding? Get six cameras on it. Nick is over there absolutely slaying it... let's cut to backstage. Now the crowd. How about Gina shredding backstage while Nick is slaying it? I raise my glass to you, Nick. Keep on crushing it, goddammit.
Vocalist and lead guitarist always get the most love, that’s just how it is even if other people are crushing it vocalist and lead guitarist always get the most attention.
Nick better get busy singing then! 😂
Solid take my friend, he and Sebastian as well are a fuckin juggernaut
It’s hard to put into words how much I love this band. This song is SO GOOD. They always find a way to step it up & push even further with each record, but somehow still maintain a sound that no other band has. Legendary.
I love Baroness. Thanks, that's all I wanted to say.
I saw them live on their tour with Deafheaven and Zeal & Ardor and I can honestly say it was the best concert experience of my life
Yikes, zeal and ardor
@@dennisfinan7977 wait im out of the loop, is there any issue with zeal and ardor??
@@SALT-- no I just think it's straight trash. That's all. Boring as fuck. The only reason we hear about this is he's half black and talks about racism. Just fucking boring
Seb is on another fucking level. That little 4 against 3 thing he does on the ride during the chorus is incredible.
Yeah that's pretty awesome. I just noticed he also keeps the pattern going at 5:48 and the bass switches to more of a 4/4, then he brings the drums back in at that feel, and the ride pattern never changes, that's sick!
Baroness's new guitar player is amazing.
Gina is a valkyrie. Rock on!
Gee whiz what a shining example of modern metal, I love the arrangements here and Gina is a perfect fit, fucking rad, blown away, live it takes on an epic dimension.
Nick rocking that King Gizzard shirt, the man's got good taste
please release a live version of the last two albums!
Agree'd. Baroness is one of my all time favorite bands, but the biggest complaint I have is Purple and Gold & Grey's mixing and mastering. Its a mess, and the songs sound so much better raw, live, less processed, less polished.
Damn Gina Gleason may be one of the best guitarist I ever heard she has an uncanny talent for creating some of the most unique atmospheric riffs I have ever heard. This band is soooo fuckin unique.People don't think get true brilliance in music but my god these guys deserve more records
Recognition John is a true trailblazer and this band just innovates
Wishbone Ash, Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Baroness - I love bands with great dual lead melodies!!!
Dismember tshirt,cool.
Baroness is a Great band!
Apart from the love I have for the band, I gotta say this sounds awesome! Kudos to the engineers!
gonzorudeboy they should’ve mixed the album
so glad this band endures !!!!
Baroness is the type of band where the whole crowd has to chant along. I love watching this band live.
I noticed how somewhat empty-ish the music sounded with just John singing live. If Gina and John sang together most of the time, it would definitely complete their live sound.
Anyways, so excited for the new album! Yeeeeee!
Sounded empty and light bc bass was too quiet. And the distortion was weird.
@@jm-bn9sy As good as his playing is, I was bummed about the mix, as well.
The bassline in the end is sick
Gina is a godess
smooth.
They're doing their best work right now.
They're so humble and perfect
Outstanding. Baroness by far is the band to see live this year... amazing.
This video brings such a huge smile to my face.
So many good emotions compressed together into a single audio/video experience.
So happy I got to see the opening night of this tour in Houston. Such a great band to see live!
Such a chemistry. Great band.
Man...what an incredible band. That music is really really great! I'll bet they work real hard!
This song is just pure dope...
To see them in a little club, in Nowhere Illinois, thanks Gina, you guys keep on, until next time. Love from Appleton, Wisconsin.
I didn't bond with the Purple album for some reason, but this is like an advanced version of the earlier albums. Love the dual guitar playing! I must get a copy of Gold & Grey.
Philly loud and proud!
Great drumming and bass job during the whole song. This song sounds here way better than the studio version. Can't wait to see then live playing the new songs.
good song, first time I've listen to them
Thats some bassline man awesome
god I love I this band!
The bass OMG!! Bassrones 🤘
I am going to see this awesome band on october 24th. ( for the 6th time ) They never dissapoint. \m/
Gina wearing a Dismember Like An Everflowing Stream shirt? She is so fucking awesome and has good taste in metal!
oh Gina.... 😊😊😊
GINA!
I'm at 6:24 failing to catch the setlist from Gina lmao
One of those rare bands that's as good or better live than on their albums! Got to see them play Cleveland recently, probably one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Looking forward to the new album, and to catch them again in Indy!
I think is the other way, almost every band sounds better live than in the album. But yeah, this is great
Great show, glad I went even if I had to go by myself.
Beautiful song !!!!!!!!!
Why couldn't we have that kind of mix on the studio version??
Because it's horrible... ?!
@@beto1580 derp derp!
I’m a big fan of how I can clearly hear all of the instruments instead of having the drums completely wash out almost everything else. I’ve already kinda prepared to be disappointed by grey and gold not because the songs are bad, but because the production is awful. Front Toward Enemy is just a brick wall of indiscernible noise.
@@zachiswayposi1 I agree that the production on Seasons was pretty awful, but Borderlines sounded perfect to me. I don't know what to expect from Gold & Grey, but what I do know is that Baroness have come out with consistently great albums for years. I can't imagine that the climax of the chromatic series will be a let down. I guess we'll just have to see.
@@zachiswayposi1 I was going to comment about the mix in this version specifically because you can't hear the crowd, which for me, is half of what makes live recordings so cool. But, you do have a point about the official version of this song, it's tough to distinctly hear the different parts.
I'm happy eleven found a place for herself. No hate. I love Barones!!
The bass 👌🏻
this band is growing on me....a lot....
I alwayas have loved Baroness and all their amaizing gitar players.... And I have to say that it was hard to me Tim loose leaving the band, BUT since Gena Gleason came in it was a blast in terms not only in music, she and Baroness claim one of the most powerful messages in term of art, offering new role models, making a huuuge statement on openness, diverse an power gerner inclusive banad.... Sorry by the typos, kind of drunk, but thanks and love you guys!!!!
I discovered u guys last month through a friend's IG story of the Borderlines music video. I instantly fell in love with ur tones and melodies. And now after having read all ur lyrics and having listened to all the songs from ur latest record, I see that Dismember shirt and u got my full respect. Fucking AAA u guys are. Cheers from Iran. 🤘❤️
Awesomely produced piece. Love this band
Forever adore this Band 💜💜
Gina is so goddamn beautiful
Not the Madonna cover I expected, but still good.
ROFL!!!!!!
Baroness fucking rules!
How have I never heard of this band before?
RIGHT??? Same here
Gina is awesome
what's that tank top? Says Nothing on it in purple? I know it's some 90s album but I forget which one
2:37 BARONESS ES DE RIVER PLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Creo que no es primera vez que lo veo con algo de River...
Naaaaa, que grande el loco.
I think I'm falling in love with Gina.
Ear Candy!!
Every live mix sounds better than the album. Can we get a remix?
100%. Really hope they get a new producer for the next album. Purple and Gold & Grey mixes/mastering is trash unless you listen to it on a very particular setup.
Such a great band, i hope the mix for the new album wil be better than the thing i have heard on UA-cam. But then again love this band 🤘
full set pliss
Royal headache!
BARONESS
Amazing. Just sad that is not possible to hear the bass at the end properly... it's amazing.
Please someone tell me what seb is doing with the hi hat on the vs
Wearing a Nothing tank, damn I love this band
Not to leave the prototypical "Baroness production" comment, but I honestly prefer this mixing to that of the studio version.
All of the songs they’ve released are probably great. It’s just too bad you can’t hear the guitars.
@@zachiswayposi1 I can hear the guitars... I do empathize with people who are having trouble finding the right thing to listen on though... I think once we get ahold of lossless tracks it will be way better for everyone.
@@GrymgaRPG So much for that
Sweet Vase shirt..
Oh Gina, I am so in love with you!
3:30 started and burn!
musically it sounds like,a great 80"s Australian band ...Spy v Spy..Baroness are great band.
Amazing to think that John Baizley can be so aggressive on stage then sit down and paint! .......Hang on I do that too!
Noice.
Baroness ekspresja dynamit. Bardzo dobra kapela . trzymajcie tak dalej
Don't think for a SECOND I missed that King Giz t-shirt.
The drumming is so fucking tasty
I love this song and Seasons too. My only complaint is that the vocal harmonies are a bit repetitive.
I wouldn't call 45 seconds longer than the album version "extended", its slightly improvised sure, but it certainly isn't like Gojira's live version of Pray.
Gina is damn awesome! But Pete's solos were out of this world.
Mihai Crivoi I’m secretly hoping he ends up having time to be in Baroness again and they just turn into a triple harmonizing guitar and vocals thing
Listening to these live recordings i realize she is nowhere near Pete's level of precision and power. She plays sloppy at parts, bends out of tune etc... Baizley is and always was doing that but Pete always kinda made up for it. Weak album, weak version of baroness
Pete is so much better than Gina. 10x tighter, more stage presence. Literally everything better.
So that's what this song sounds like
Lovin the new songs.. On a side note.. Seb kinda reminds me of Allen Covert.. Hide your Laura Croft dolls..
This sounds like "Big Country" covering " Mastodon"
They are even better with gina
At first I thought the guitarist was Reba Meyers
I'll listen to whatever I want to, mom! I like Reba but she doesn’t have shit on Gina
A video of the quality would have cost a fortune to make years back.
Great band, also Gina rules, I don’t think they could’ve picked a better replacement than her.
This sounds way different from when I saw them on their first tour. I guess they went the mastodon route to prog rock
Bassist has baby hair 😌
Can't they re-mix and rerelease Gold and Grey? Meshuggah did it for Nothing (although I actually like the original!).
I think Baroness is the only band I've listened to where the production really takes away from the music
i gotta ask... are John and Gina dating or something? those two scream that vibe
Considering John is married and Gina is a lesbian it seems doubtful.
Yes but “come back to me sweet WHAT”?
This band has been around for off and on a decade - they still are the same - the art sold me on the first couple - now bye....... AAAHHHHHH\......
.BYEEEEEAAAAHHHEEEEEEE
Pearl Jam brought me here
Despite how pretentious the main guy is they are an unreal band
Why? What's unreal about it?
hmmmm... Seems like a step behind to me. Especially the production. I'm not sorry to the hardcore fan.
Is Gina out of tune?
Cool music but I don't like the way he sings the songs the same way.
I don't get that band
