Thank you for watching! What's your favorite aspect of dark academia? 🖤And remember, you can sign up for my FREE apartment styling workshop right here: www.modamisfit.com/workshop It's happening on November 9th, 13th, and 16th (each day is the same workshop - you can choose which date works best for you) so be sure to sign up so you don't miss out!
I have been into this look/ lifestyle for years! I didn't know it had a name until now. I'm slightly comforted to finally put a label on it, instead of calling myself 'weird!' 😄
Haha you're not weird at all, Chastity! There seems to be almost a whole community/culture around dark academia, so you should definitely do a deep dive into Pinterest and Instagram, and find your fellow dark academia peeps!
I applaud you including everyone to embrace this style. Between this and whimsigoth I have a definite direction now. I have always been a boho type of person, now I can transition to these 2 styles. I have a lot of evil eye and celestial home decor from Etsy. I’m drawn to Turkish and Moroccan design, strange being a person of color. This was a wonderful way to start my day. Best of luck beautiful lady!
I am sssssso looking forward to seeing you do other spaces. Love your gorgeous, unique aesthetic - essentially, the anti-Alexandra - and your channel would explode.
Love this style! I keep forgetting about Etsy! One request, could you make a video regarding scents? Like how to pick a great scent for you and your aesthetic as well as candle alternatives and resources? Some landlords don't allow candles
"Some landlords don't allow candles." That has been my experience in every place I have rented. Try wax squares in a wax melter - you get the scent without the soot.
I've binged all her vids. Here are 2 vids she's made specifically about scents - hope these help a bit: ua-cam.com/video/dvoQk8o5t0E/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/chpWw5C7K5Q/v-deo.html
This was very helpful! Could you do a dark academia room with a French twist. I’m doing my den dark green, bookcases and antiques. Trying to find accessories that have a French vibe to add.
My aesthetic has been “dark” academia since I was a child. It was not until recently that I even knew how to define it. It is so fun and inspiring to see this trend catching on in a more expansive manner. 🖤🖤🖤
Moda Misfit. I applaud this video Dark Academia. It's brilliant! The production is brilliant as well as the information shared with your public. Thank you for this super viewing experience. To the side, I kept thinking of Harold in Harold and Maude. Harold's car for example and their twosome "anything goes". Love sent to you, and studio family
Hi, thank you for this amazing video. I would like to ask you is where to find those amazing plants that I see in your video. I love black roses that I would like to implement in my decoration but it is hard to find good quality of fake plans… what would be your suggestion for any good brand. Thank you very much .
I have to check out Etsy. Did get some polaroids of dark academia things, but they were smaller than I thought they'd be, so going to be tough to frame. Also, I saw you had Dennis Sever's Christmas House on your list. I've watched the documentary on his house a few times. Love it.
I looooove the dark academia style! I really feel that this is what I want but the thing is that it doesn’t match my personality. I’m not so much into dark witchy things but more into this cozy, warm & brown vibe .. that’s the reason I’m not sure about if I should go for it or not 😫 either way loved your video 😍❤️
It can actually be adapted to a lighter version which will just be Academia. That is the style other people had done when it didn't even had a name for this style. Use browns and matching neutral tones or richer/muddier shades like maroon, moss green, chocolate brown mixed with beiges, taupes plus books and all the other paraphernalia and there you go. My father is an actual academic and has his personal library looking like academia but without the darkness and that was way before all this dark academia/H. Potter thing started, back in the 60's.

I can't describe my decor style. It's not dark or light academia, but cozy academia, I guess? Think Hufflepuff common room. What would this even be called?
This video was a total waste of my time. A lot of talk but no real information on how to go about creating the "style" referreing to Pintrest and Etsy is a waste of time.

It is very interesting, it's dark, moody, traditional, victorian, gothic, grand and maximalist with a bit of quirk. Fabulous.
Yes it pairs really well with those styles and also with industrial/steampunk and even some variations of Boho.

Thank you Nanna! All my faux florals are from Target, TJ Maxx, and Pier 1 when they were open!
I tried signing up to your workshop and it says form not found?
Actually like Harry Potter and the other one would be dark shadows they had some nice furniture in that mansion. Or Rose Red..
Ooh I'll have to see that!
The candles from Illuminati arrived yesterday. Got the Library, Borealis & Vanilla scents. They smell great.

Uh, is this style for only persons with at least a phd?
Not necessarily but you do need to have a passion for learning, knowledge and history or it will be phony.
