Can you paint emulsion on top of this primer? Want to paint pipes same colour as my walls. Was also thing of spray painting them to save time. What spray primer would you recommend?
HI, for old pipes that are already painted would you just sand and then repaint or would i need to strip as much of the paint off before hand down to the copper? Problem is there are quite a few chips so just worried about an uneven finish. Great channel btw, learnt alot from your videos.
Once primed can I paint pipes with the same Matt paint I used on the walls? My pipes run under the rads across the wall and I’m debating whether to make them white or the colour of the walls.
@@EggsForDessert I know this is an older comment but what did you decide to do in the end?. I'm in exactly the same situation. I have pipes running just above the skirting boards along the walls and I'm undecided whether to paint them white or magnolia like my walls
krisja white is more striking as opposed to magnolia, and gives a better Contrast against the magnolia. Only my opinion though. Magnolia pipes look as if they’ve “yellowed “ with heat 👍👍
Hi, I bought a paint that is suitable for wood and metal. Used it on my copper pipes and within 20 minutes, the pipes turned blue-ish/ green. Should I wipe down the paint to remove it or is that normal/ requires a second coat tomorrow? Many thanks for your response.
@@PaintingandDecorating Thank you for responding. Ah, hmm so is it bad that the pipes have turned a greenish blue colour coming through thr white paint? What should I do next? Remove the paint from the pipes (I have something that can do this) or should I paint over it with a second coat of the white paint? Kind regards
I'm painting silk on my pipes as they already have old paint on them and I want to hide them unfortunately I need small flat brushes as hardly any room beneath and at side for paintbrush and nice video good advice on sanding I noticed tho you just dust off after sanding vs damp cloth to ensure as complete as possible removal of dust particles etc nice video all same
It's better than nothing.. oil wood primer can fell sticky till it's undercoated using oil prefably. but if your going over with water based you will have to leave it to dry for a free days...
Thanks. The will be no more radio and filming unfortunately did a video the other day. And when I uploaded it the was one song band world wide. So I thought best not do that again. Good video as well may still put it on. Will take the sound off should be fun guessing what am saying. LOl
I have always just used a gloss on them, never had a problem (apart from a bit of a smell for a few days).
Nice to hear no radio!!!
Ye that's also ok although they sometimes can go green looking over time. The primer just helps this not to happen.

What did you paint over the primer with?

Thank you, yes sand and repaint, but in the areas where it's chipped make sure you sand them even. Touch up any bare copper with primer.

Listless Donkey yes you can paint them with your wall paint.
Painting and Decorating In your experience what colours should rads/pipes be? White gloss/satinwood or same as the walls.

Lots of paints say they can go on wood and metal.. but bare wood and metal require primers.. unless it says on your paint no primer required.. thanks

Thanks, a dust of is usually enough... sounds like you need a lining fitch or pencil brush.
They are better primed, I use a couple of coats of Zinsser bin no difference really it just dries quicker
Used BIN and it oxidised the copper.
Will wood primer work? I've only got a small pipe to paint and don't want to buy a whole tin if I can get away without it

@@PaintingandDecorating thanks mate
Great to see you back mate! can you get that primer in B&Q
Thanks and yes you can get the primer from B&Q. Dulux oil undercoat and Dulux oil gloss.
Thanks, mate look forward to more videos
Can’t BIN be used on pipes first?
Yes, B.I.N. also works on copper.
I put BIN on and the pipes turned green.
Hi. Can the metal paint be okay for the copper pipes heating?
Good video. I'm having a wild guess that it was in Stockport.?
Close
Not one video on UA-cam about how to paint the wall/skirting BEHIND the pipes 😩
Small brush and wipe off any paint you get on the pipe. Easy, wall first allowed to dry then pipes.
Good information bud and I missed the music from the radio
