Thanks very much for this video. I followed your instructions earlier today in our downstairs toilet and it worked a treat. I had been dreading doing the job, because I thought I'd have to disconect the radiator from the system and remove it from the wall completely. I would never ever have thought of doing what you showed us. Again, many, many thanks.👍
Ahh, this is a LIFE SAVER! I’ve watched so many videos telling me to remove the entire thing. This seems super easy and I’m about to do it now. Thank you so much for this video 🙌🏽👏🏽
The easiest demonstration i have seen. As a woman making a first attempt the is so good. I am scared cause i cant yo manual labour but i need to paint my new house
Awesome thank you, I have seen my husband do this but never watched enough! I had managed to lift the rad but didn't loosen of the nuts so couldn't lay it down, now my skirting board replacement will be easy! Thank you.
You are literally a genius! I wonder how many houses in the UK has paint from 10,20 years ago because they either… Didn’t know how to do this Or Couldn’t be bothered lol
Great video - thanks for posting this. Also, as said below, great to see a video that doesn't include a load of posing and waffling about some useless product at the beginning.
I usually take the whole radiator off and disconnected from the water flow. This allows you to empty the silt from the radiator and when it goes back on, it makes them more efficient as the flow is much better, especially with older setups.
Don't forget to count the number of turns when shutting off the valve. If the heating system had been previously balanced it is important to use the same number of turns when re-opening the valve.
Thank you for this tip as I was putting up wet wall and this let me drop it and clean behind it and put it right to the floor & also take the brackets off. Thank you once again.
I have brackets on my radiators that allow the radiators to tilt/pivot "when full" to the floor in less than half a minute. Dead easy for decorating or cleaning behind.
This solution is feasible if you have the movement on the 'tails' . Alternatively, drain the radiator fully and completely remove it from the supports, then decorate with it removed. It also gives the opportunity to 'flush' the 'gunk' from the radiator after removal. On modern builds, the pipes are polypropylene (plastic) and are fully flexible. This allows the coupled radiator to be lifted off the mounting brackets and to be pulled away from the wall, but it has to be supported at a similar level.
@@darrenthebuilder so u have a bathroom job nxt week. Would absolutely love a tutorial on how to remove and cap a toilet and wash basin to lay a floor then re attaching.. love your videos bro. Wicked tutorials.. really easy to follow 👌
I have this exact radiator but the issue I have right now is that someone left old wallpaper behind and mould has been growing during last weeks and I just noticed it, really annoying.
How much do i loosen the valve thing that doesn't have numbers on after i am finished to make it heat up again? Will it be obvious when i ought to stop turning the rectangular thingy?
Is it safe to leave the radiator dropped for a couple of days while I make small repairs and paint the wall? Also, can the central heating remain on while it’s dropped? Thanks for the great video
And you have alluded to the real problem with this method. There is no way of knowing if too much pressure will be exerted on an elbow under the floorboards until a large damp patch appears on the ceiling of the room below. For the sake of a few quid for a couple of radiator capping thumbs, it is better to be safe than sorry.
Thanks for this video! btw I have a slightly unrelated question, about skirting boards that have thick badly done paint on them. Is it possible to sand them back down to an even smooth level or is it best to just replace the skirting board entirely?
There will be switch or lever valve on your Hot Water Boiler to top up the pressure. Open the valve and watch the pressure gauge on the boiler rise until it's within the manufacturers recommended pressure range
Great video. Thanks for not spending 20 minutes introducing today's sponsor or talking nonsense. Class.
Nice One mate ..
Who is the sponsor though? 😅
@@ross2007 British Gas 😂

Did you manage to to this radiator hack OK? I'm.just about to do it myself?
Tried this today when we needed to remove the old wall paper and it worked a treat, many thanks for this.
Glad it helped
The best and easiest guide I’ve found. Thanks 👍👍

Exactly what an instructional video should be. Clear, concise and informative. Thank you.

This is excellent! All the videos I’ve seen take the whole radiator off the wall. Thank you!
I just used this method, following your instructions to the letter. It worked perfectly. Thank you very much.
Such a great video. Clear with no nonsense. I’ve gone back to it about three or four times with various projects.
Really simple, straightforward tutorial. Very useful, thank you.
Thank you so much, this was just what I needed, after dropping my phone behind the radiator, and having many failed attempts to get it back out!
A straightforward tutorial, easy to understand. Excellent video. Many thanks.
Legend. Now I can repair the loose brackets behind my radiator! Thanks !
I always have this problem when I decorate but now you have saved me a lot of time . Thanks for a great vid
Just used this video today, as my remote control got stuck behind the radiator. Thank you so much!
What a great video - such a simple idea. Sincere thanks for posting.
Explained very well. The best and easiest guide I’ve found. Very helpful. 👌👍👍👍
Smart idea mate. Better than removing the whole thing which I’ve seen on other tutorials.
Only done the first part before painting but can already say this method and guide is brilliant. Top top job 👍👌👍
That has just revolutionised decorating in our house..... fantastic 👍👍👍

That's what I like, a tutorial that's to the point with no faffing...perfect.
Good Job :)
Nice one mate from a decorator you've helped me make people happy nice one.🤩
Respect bro! So much easier than taking it off completely 🤔
Great video. Thanks. I've heard this described but never seen it actually done.
Shocking that plumbers in tbe U.K want to charge £80.00 - £150.00 to do something so simple!
Thank you ❤
Every trade wants top money for doing bugger all in rip off Britain.
Great video. Really clear instructions. You make it look easy!
I've always taken the rad off completely, this is a good idea! Less topping up and bleeding after too. Thanks👍🏻
Great video, simple and well presented. Most others tell you to remove it ffs! Lifesaver
Great video - thanks for posting this. Also, as said below, great to see a video that doesn't include a load of posing and waffling about some useless product at the beginning.
Brilliant. This is best very clear demonstration! Finally thanks
Ace video. You’ve saved me a lot of hassle and got yourself a new subscriber. Thanks
Excellent content. Easy to follow and no fuss. Can steam strip the wallpaper behind the radiator now!
Excellent video for someone like me who has no idea. Really helpful, thanks.
Perfect! Never knew it was straight forward as I need to remove wallpaper
Excellent video. Really easy to follow and a real help. Thank you!
this is extremely helpful, we don't know how to refill our boiler pressure so avoiding complete drainage is great
Great video. Never thought of doing this but it makes perfect sense and the job a whole lot easier 👍
Just by this video alone ive subscribed liked and shared 😊
This is so easy to understand, thanks for sharing. You are a legend.
Nice little trick. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Unusually do that too when plastering. I just remove it but just wants to give a top
For people painting who may be able to manage this. 👍🏾
Brilliant thanks, simple and to the point. Just what I needed to watch. 🤓

Straight to the point, much appreciated
Omg thank you for this quick simple not waffling on video
Life saver 👍👍 short and to the point. Nice one mate
A good method, I've not seen this done before, thank you

This is the exact problem we have in our hall. Thanks for sharing
Do you need to loosen the valve at the end...because the first thing you did was tighten it?? Im judt double checking before i do mine.thanks
Nice one. Took a bit of searching to find a tutorial
Great method if youve got play in the connecting pipes that allows you to lift the radiator, if theres no play the radiator has to come off.
Brilliantly simple.
Thanks
Really clear and helpful. Thank you.
Definitely bookmarking this!
Brilliant well done 👏🏼👍🏼
That was really well explained.. thanks for your help
Great advice, thank you so much. Now to put it into action...
Thank you, great tip. Will be doing it today.

ALWAYS use two spanners one on each nut to loosen the TRV and lock shield or you may break the joint.
Thanks this will make decorating my house so much easier
This is brilliant. Thank you!
This really helped. Thank you!
Great video bro. Just qualified a tiller and didn't show is anything regarding removing radiators.. Great tutorial 👌
You’re welcome Chris

Not advisable for larger heavier rads.
I have this exact radiator but the issue I have right now is that someone left old wallpaper behind and mould has been growing during last weeks and I just noticed it, really annoying.
Top video! Really well explained! Thanks man!
Saved me a job ,thanks matey

Yes it’s fine, just tighten it back up while it’s down until you’re ready to bring it back up again.
Use a pair of mole grips go hold the pipe steady while using the spanner!
Pretty good idea, if you have enough play on the pipes to allow the drop into the floor without spraining the joints below.
And you have alluded to the real problem with this method. Could I do this and wallpaper ? Wanting to take brackets off the wall too
That’s amazing! I will be leaving that to the pros though lol
Great video … Thanks !
Great video 💯 Thank you
I had no idea it's possible. I though it has to be removed completely.
What do you mean the top up the water pressure?
What should the pressure be and how do you do that?
Thanks for the video.
There will be switch or lever valve on your Hot Water Boiler to top up the pressure. Open the valve and watch the pressure gauge on the boiler rise until it's within the manufacturers recommended pressure range
Great way of decorating, I have seen were there is only one value, so I asume system will need draining with only one value??
It should have one on each side but if it does only have one then unfortunately you will have to drain the system
Fine stuff, thank you sir.
You can boy do that if the pipes are through wood flooring.
Ground floor radiators are used in the concrete.
Great tutorial. Think we did it too many times as now the radiator is leaking. Ooops.
ptf tape round the olive should sort it
Thank you for your video . God bless
Nice one mate 👍
Can this method be used for plastic pipes? Currently contending with 10mm plastic pipes and worried it might be too much stress on them.
Fantastic😁👍🏼thank you!
Thanks, never knew this.
I did this but I don't think i loosened one of the nuts enough and it caused a leak further down the pipe. I know this approach works but do take care
Very useful guide!
