  • There really is a village in Ireland called Termonfeckin. Unlike so many Irish beauty spots, Termonfeckin had never been celebrated in song, until Irish playwright Wesley Burrowes made good that omission in what he called 'the Irish Folk-song to end all Irish folk-songs'. Roger Ordish

hi Wesley Burrowes. I need to add my voice to the hurrahs for Termonfeckin. It is indeed a special place. My oldest son's name is James Duff Lyall. He had his first pint of Guinness in Ballyjamesduff. (-:

You've got my number, Mrs Reeves. You guessed it; the cravat was borrowed. Miss O'Rourke (from the office, you remember) took me to visit some of her relatives in Termonfeckin once. It seemed a very nice place with plenty of sun, but then one evening in the pub we were enjoying a small sherry, when this man came up and said something about a great crack. We left hurriedly.

Hi Roger, do you know that there is a 'Feckin Murphy' buried in the grounds of Termonfeckin Church?

It was only a bit of fun and not meant to be taken seriously. I am sure Termonfeckin is a lovely place really. Thanks for your comment.
