That's a poor excuse, if you rear-ended somebody you are at fault. Ask any insurance company, suddenly brake from the Driver in Front don't matter, cause he didn't caused the accident that's why you are told to stay 3 feet away from the car in Front of you.

"I dont want a careless driver, that follows too closely, he was at least 3 car lengths away and he wasn't careless you can see that the officer assumed all liability without a fight and offered to replace whatever was needed. "Cop could've killed someone", even someone who was walking wouldn't have died due to being hit by the officer moving that slowly. Finally "an especially quiet street", there were multiple cars around making it not "an especially quiet street". So before you pull that ACAB shit like you tried to do then actually watch the video or just think at all in the slightest.

But after spending 22 years in law enforcement, I realize that now that I am retired, how much the culture of policing has changed and that this is normal culture these days among cops that are in the middle of their careers. It shouldn't be surprising to see an honest and courteous police officer, but because of what is fed to us, it certainly looks like the good moments are outweighed by the bad but it's simply not the case. He seemed really humble and embarrassed about the fact he rear ended someone. I mean their job is to protect and serve so Im sure he felt a little embarrassed. Seems like a good cop though. Took responsibility for his mistake. We’re all human.

This officer needs to be promoted. His attitude must be emulated and spread wide.
He has so much more of my respect for taking responsibility for this than any cop I've seen who is more interested in their "authoritah" being brought into question.

I feel bad for this officer....but it brings to mind that this is why we call it an "accident." Thank goodness the guy he hit was cool and didn't try to take advantage.
