I used to work with this guy... while I don't condone what he did in the slightest... he is a nice person and I'm sad to see him brought so low. He had a drinking problem when we worked together but it didn't impact his work much that I could tell. I didn't think he was drinking on the job - just that he smelled of alcohol because, well, if you are an alcoholic you kind of just smell like that. Now I wonder if he was drinking at work. If for some odd reason he ever reads this comment, please don't give up hope. Things can get better.
@@isitatiger He's an adult. Maybe his "depression" is caused by his alcoholism. He isn't seeking help from a professional source. What about AA meetings? They're free. My homie and I in high school got caught like on backroad pull off smoking. Well the officer said since the car was off we could get out of the car he’ll search and he’d come in an hour and tell us we could leave. Never had my heart gone so fast to “wow that officer was awesome”
@@billwe5772 that reminds me of the time me and my buddies were smoking out on the back roads just parked up smoking a couple joints and rolling up some more for later when a cop pulled up he ended up making us stomp the weed until it disappeared then cut us loose.. man those sure were the good days
Not gonna lie. When the officer asked him to recite the alphabet from E through W... I had to take a second to work that out loud. If I was nervous... I might fail that totally sober in a high stress situation.
If I get pulled over and they say I've been drinking I pass on the field test and say do a breathalyzer and when it comes back to 0.00 I say anything else officer and that's the end of it.
My father was one of the best welders there were, he would climb up super high beams, I'm talking like 30-40 feet into the air, walk across really skinny beams with no support. (completely illegal by the way, according to OSHA). And every day he did that job hammered. I don't mean a beer, I'm talking a 40, an entire bottle of those medium size plastic Bacardi's mixed with Coca-Cola, and whatever else he managed to sneak in there in the form of another beverage. Some people can function nearly flawlessly intoxicated, if their skills and muscle memory are good enough. But when you put them in a situation like this, it'll really demonstrate their drunkenness.
@@n_c_h_official I wouldn’t want your father around me up there. If I ever caught him drunk on the beams up there, I would drop him myself. That’s not just his life he’s playing with, he’s playing with mine.
@@Filthy_Larry yeah fair enough, the alcohol already took him though. Got drunk one night and walked across the six lane rd in Vegas somewhere, got struck by an ambulance. The irony.
Because alcoholics drink themselves sober. When I say that I mean they have such a high alcohol tolerance that when they drink it doesn't affect them. They need more. There is a video on UA-cam of a guy who is drinking open container in his vehicle but blows 0.00. His body needs that alcohol to function. It's like when someone wakes up and takes there medication for the day.
No doubt. Depression can make you rationalize doing dumb things such as drinking and driving. I kind of feel bad for him in that sense. But this outcome is better then him wrecking and hurting someone and himself.
Poor guy.. I was an alcoholic for most all of my life.. now I'm 50 and getting ready to celebrate 2 years sober.. still can't believe it myself. If he's drinking and driving on the job he really has a problem and I pray he gets the help he needs. I feel sorry for him. We should try to help each other be kind we never know what someone else has been through.
Regardless, he should know better. we are all going through stuff but no reason to get behind the wheel and risk other people's lives. He knew what he was doing.
“Poor guy?” What are you an idiot? I could have a little empathy for what he’s going through and the ensuing self-destructive behavior, but choosing to climb behind the wheel of a 6,000 lb killing machine while drunk is where that all goes out the window.

this was his 2nd DUI unfortunately -- his first he was 23 -- 10 years ago. he looks like the type of guy who could be creative and a great guy to the people around him, but cannot live with his demons. amazon drivers have it tough. i feel bad TBH. also, not to excuse his behavior but between DUI #1 and DUI #2 it doesn't seem a single person was victimized. Again, drinking and driving was not a crime back in the day -- both my parents were legally drinking when they were 18. No victim no crime in my eyes. He was arrested and put in jail for 3 days... that sure didn't make his life better -- and definitley didn't stop him from doing it again. I'd say "we need to rethink 'criminality' as well as 'the criminal justice system' but there's no room left in my heart for people to government-splain what the government needs to 'just' do to help people. we've seen this before.
also i think he opened the bottle right after work. not responsible behavior -- but the fact he doesnt seem to be drinking all day is at least commendable lol. recently there seems to be a major spike in people being found post-workshift in their vehicle, so drunk they're unconscious or near it. A relative found some one passed out with an open bottle in front of their house just the other day. It's like some people are getting into the habit of being responsible during their work day but being so irresponsible with their own time, mind, body and freedom that they neglect themselves to the point they're chugging hard alcohol ON THE WAY HOME. It's always happenened to some degree but now it seems to be a cultural trend.
Excluding work ethics, he literally hit a new benchmark on that route and people think a depressed drunk could use their hope. Nonetheless, AMZN is up 52% YTD and has earnings next week. Amazon has been one of the most profitable companies in my portfolio this year.
That’s just a damn shame an Amazon worker getting arrested on the job and then drinking alcohol while driving with depression this guy is a danger to the streets man
I like how they're saying he almost made it back to the warehouse he was only about 5 minutes away, which is true but who would have known what would happen the next day with more drinking and driving he could have killed someone. You could clearly see this is watching somebody just grabbing a quick beer at lunch and trying to get away with it. This is more of a borderline heavy drinker alcoholic hopefully get some help.
Something similar happened to me, but I wasn't a delivery person. I've been sober 8 years now. It is SO humiliating to have something like this happen, obviously.
Hey, it’s better than killing yourself or someone else so I’m glad nothing worse happened for you :) You would be surprised just how many people can relate to you with addiction struggles so it’s nowhere near as humiliating as you think. I’m glad to hear you are sober- I know all too well how hard that was for you but also how good it feels to come back from an addiction!
Mmm not really. I work as driver and it beats working fast food or standing in one place in a warehouse. I mean I'm Hispanic so working isn't hard for me nor do I complain about the small stuff. From what I seen at amazon everyone complains just to complain, some have good reasons but majority is people with bad work ethics, mental problems, and just don't understand how better they have it than working in a 3rd world country. Some people just aren't good workers at all and complain to hide it. Like people complain when there's not hours.....and when there's extra work they complain its too much. Americans have really shitty work ethics, you guys have it waaay too good from other countries lol and it shows. All the guys that are from another country and worked in a 3rd world nation do not complain. I enjoy when they give me screwed up routes as I take my time since we get paid hourly. Don't understand people who sign up for full time work and then complain its too much. You work 4 days a week 10 hours a day it ain't hard. I've seen old folks working a s drivers with full ass vans and they still complete their routes quickly compared to Jerry or Sally who's 22 and complaining about amazon not providing water when we all have water at home. Entitled mentality, some have good reasons to complain like about safety or condition of a car or delivering to a unsafe spot but otger than that people complain just to complain

sad and scary. I used to work with a guy at fedex who would drink in the parking lot before he started his shift. ( I didn't know he was doing this until after he passed away) Used to always come to work smelling like alcohol from the night before, (what we thought). Went to rehab and still went back to the bottle. Passed away at 37, from something related to drinking. Alcohol can really ruin your life if you're not careful.
Why would you have sympathy for him? He's incredibly drunk (.284%) while on the job, and not only that his job is to drive around. Why would you have sympathy for someone making a choice like that on the job? .284 isn't no slouch either, that's like drinking half a bottle... That's an extremely high level of intoxication, choosing to do it on the job while he's getting paid as well. The police officer saved possible lives that day. The guy was literally running over things and almost hitting cars. You feel for him though, I don't understand at all but I guess that's your choice. I agree this is what he needed, but there's literally no excuse, especially when you're on the job getting paid. It's not like he was off work at a bar and made the mistake of having one too many drinks and through bad judgement didn't want to Uber home and leave the car behind in a bad area somewhere. This is him straight up deciding to be a shitty employee and drink on the job while getting paid to literally drive around.

I’m an Amazon DSP driver (Carle Place NY Long Island). I usually have between 300 and 350 packages a day. A lot of times I’m absolutely enslaved with oversize packages in a van that’s too small. One day I had 47 oversize packages but thankfully I had a much bigger van that day and so many of them went out right away to a business. There are pressures to being an Amazon driver because of the insane volume the best drivers get every day. I’m one of the best drivers of my DSP (delivery service provider) and that’s why I get so much stuff almost every day. I’m often one of the first drivers of my DSP to return to the warehouse.

Some people can function nearly flawlessly intoxicated, if their skills and muscle memory are good enough.

this was his 2nd DUI unfortunately -- his first he was 23 -- 10 years ago. he looks like the type of guy who could be creative and a great guy to the people around him, but cannot live with his demons. amazon drivers have it tough. i feel bad TBH. also, not to excuse his behavior but between DUI #1 and DUI #2 it doesn't seem a single person was victimized.

Dude don't do tests when you know you're buzzed, just say take me in, decline test if possible, don't talk, yes no to questions , don't answer personal questions, be nice... good attorney will get you off.
He makes not a great sober driver but a great drunk ballerina. That hand flip he's got on those pivot steps...
Yes, lol
“Jazz hands!!”🤠
🤣🤣
What color?
Amazon slogan Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History
He drank hard, he had fun, he made history. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
Imagine getting that call as his boss. Like damn bro gotta tow the van again
Feel for him (minus the he could've killed someone). He must be really in bad. Even in my darkest days I waited till I got off work and home before I got blotto.
I agree. Poor guy might be homeless after this. But he shouldnt have done what he did
Thank you. Some just don't have the street smarts. Caught my friend years ago driving drunk in the middle lane of a busy street. I was coming home from work and noticed his ORANGE MUSTANG of all cars to be driving wasted in. Luckily got him back to my place before something bad happened. He did that more often than not some people are just brain dumb, yet he was valedictorian or somthing of my grade school. School smarts don't equal street smarts
@@goldleaf889 Unfortunately, addiction, of any type, is a disease that doesn't discriminate. Smart or dumb...
He got to 7 one thousand and gave up, like yup u got me officer and I'm a idiot.
You never know how he feelings or what he's going tho. Seems like he's a decent guy, just did something stupid
I work at UPS and as an entry level driver helper I got paid more than full time Amazon drivers they have a soul crushing job and are massively overworked but it’s still no excuse for this.
I worked for ups and amazon.. I didn't work for fed ex.
"entry level driver helper" is about as sad as it gets lol. That's like saying "I'm an entry level door opener helper. I assist the guy that opens doors for people, but I'm entry level".
Just delete this embarrassing comment already.
@@sneksteppy What's embarrassing is that you run your mouth without doing a couple minutes worth of reading. Without any experience that's what you need to do in order to become a driver for ups. Those guys are union, tell me how much the ups has to pay them after being a driver for 4 years.
@@sneksteppy You hit your head? Why you so angry about an 11 month comment lmao. I think you also missed the point, he means entry level at UPS pays more than someone with seniority at Amazon.
@@sneksteppy yeah and I’m sure your life is sooooooo successful 🥱
When I read that his bac was a .284 my jaw dropped. He was hammered!!
That’s three and a half times the legal limit right there (.08). He was probably fired instantly after his DSP company and Amazon got word that he was arrested for DUI. I’m an Amazon DSP driver based out of Carle Place NY (Long Island). As Amazon drivers, we’re not actually employees of Amazon. We work for a third party company that contracts with Amazon to deliver the packages.
@@kobyschechter8163The story goes that he was depressed because his fiancee broke it off with him a year before he was arrested here. The booze was to help him cope.
When they give you the “I messed up” line you know you’re in for something that’s gonna involve a report lol
From someone who’s drove for a living for many year’s, there’s no excuse to be drinking behind the wheel! I was at one point an alcoholic too, but I still had a rule of nerve drinking until I was home.
hell yeah i love nerve drinking, way better than vein drinking for sure 😉🤣😋
Same
So you NEVER drove home from the bar? Ever?
I never should have done it but I've blacked out drunk and woke up backed up in a parking spot. Most people aren't that Irish so I wouldn't recommend ever drinking and driving.
@@jacobfromallstate4963 or even drinking lol
In the driver’s defense, he had to empty the liquor bottle so he had something to pee into. Tick tock, tick tock.
Amazon lemonade.
if you're an alcoholic, the last job you should be doing is driving. like cmon what did you expect
He wasn't drunk, he's just tired since he's been delivering prime packages 365 days a year 24 hours a day
Used to be an Amazon delivery driver. They work really hard, but they aren't supposed to drink hard on the job.
Fastest DUI arrest I’ve ever seen. This normally takes forever

Ya I got mine 3 months after turning 21, everyone says they are not drunk but I had 3-4 beers at a pool hall hanging out with friends and got pulled over for going 4mph over the speed limit (39 in a 35) going to my weed dealers house 😂. Passed all the eye/walking test then he pulled out the darn breathalyzer. Blew in it and he walked around his cop car for 5 minutes and came back saying “ your under arrest” as I blew a .109 so I was completely shocked lol
@@Max_Krypto you had to be swerving there’s no way he pulled u over for 4 over that’s fucked up
@@halomegablokswarrior8798 depends on how bored they were that night really
Cops gonna be driving with an open container in the front of his car, wonder if that’s illegal 😂
I like your thinking 🤔
Everyone on his route got the wrong package that day 😆
I would have wrote a note that says "This is an Automated Vehicle for your convenience" and stuck it to the window.
And then hopped in the back and hid in the packages.
Lmao
That would be hilarious 😂
Seriously the best idea i ever heard of for a company driver
