I loved building my grand hauler, Tamiya 3 speed gearboxes are really nice to build in the trucks and the 4x4's. Thread lock is used if you fit a vibration motor as shakes the truck to pieces. Mine is still on going. So much to do on these trucks. Great video glen 👍.

Whoever clicked thumbs down needs to have their thumb chopped off. It's an amazing build it's something I've always wanted to do. Even knows it's not racing and 8th scale or Nitro. Very interesting. And it don't matter your age everybody knows days of thunder, mind you I am in the deep south of Georgia. Favorite line that movie is when the doctor tells cole trickle,( let me out of the car cole let me out of car!) In a fake Boston accent. That movie just has deep cells all over it. But it is a classic. Keep it up .the build looks amazing can't wait to see it finished. I think it's persuaded me to do one myself and I have my own little ideas and projects for it!
This is the quality of the older tamiya kits from the 70s . I had a motorized F1 car that was as big as this truck. It had a stick shift transmission with live rear axles and rack and pinion steering and suspension. It's the best kit I've ever had . It was gorgeous.
Wow, those Tamiya truck kits are freaking awesome! I'm very, very tempted to get one at some point, maybe next year, not sure which one yet though or what colour scheme I'd use on it either. Great video as always, really looking forward to seeing it finished and running!!

The only thing I haven’t done is install the electronics, it’s been a shelf queen since 97! I do want to finish it. It’s been way too long!😂nice job on yours!👌😎👍
Good to see this one taking shape 👍🏻. They do look a lot of money sitting on the Shop shelf but as you have discovered it’s all in the extensive build experience. You get a heck of a lot of parts for your money. Light & Sound modules add another dimension to. You are flying along with yours though, it took me 6 months to finish my Knight Hauler.
That's going to look superb mate👍 never built any of the tamiya trucks but from what I've seen it can be an endless task (and you've got to have deep pockets)
Trucks are fun to build. Do you know that the High-Lift trucks use mostly the same gearbox, but with other end plates. different housing and a transfer box at the bottom? Motor is also moved on those. High-Lift and TLT-1 axles are based on the truck axles, so if any need parts for those, regarding diffs, trucks use the same parts. TLT axles is the axle that is most similar to the trucks in shape, only wider and with TA04 steering parts. A popular mod is to make these trucks 6x6 by using TLT axle, mod the gearbox or fit a transfer box. Getribedoctor in Germany specialize in those axles and gearboxes for 6x6. Axles can even have selectable diff lock. But beware, those parts are not cheap! I have actually have 3 axles from him on a project I build with difflock and 6x6. Have also built loads of project with HL and TLT axles. But axles are getting a bit more hard to come by nowdays. And btw you get alluminium axle housings, but not from Tamiya. Lesu is the biggest maker of aftermarket parts for these trucks, including axles. RC4wd used to make aluminium axle housings for trucks, HL and TLT. But those are discontinued several years ago. Richard
Come to America those things fly down the interstate highways at 90,s at least on occasions but high 70,s to 80 is average they do move yea it takes awhile but when they get up to speed and put it in 18th gear there moving.. it’s a great kit.

The Days of Thunder truck is actually quite plain. Mostly just white and just a few lines on the trailer in green and yellow. Matchbox once made a model of the Kenworth Aerodyne truck.

You said the XR311 was best kit to put together? 😕 Right so I do want a truck but there’s a few issues. 1- they are many many Tamiya tokens. 2- I’d want the Grand Hauler plus the fuel tanker trailer 3- Tamiya keep releasing buggy’s and cars I want so truck goes further down the list. Need to win lottery 🤞

@@TAMIYALegends the race car livery has this airbrush overlap between the colors. Ouch. Wishing you luck, else... Body cleaner can help to reset ;-).
what about the grease in gearbox
There's another guy that builds the tamiya truck kits on yt and trailers and some scratch stuff when necessary. If you're interested I can let you know the name of his channel. He's an older laid back retiree. A real craftsman
Oh yes please 👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends RCMojo TV has built trucks on his channel in the past. He is in UK.
I hear in 3rd gear you can get those things to do 20 + miles an hour.
I hope you use this truck frequently because you can have a hard time putting it on display in your case. Lol
Haha it actually fits in 😅👊🏻
It looks the dogs Glenn 👍
Thanks Chris 😊👊🏻
Looks like you've set yourself a challenge with the paint job 😅
You said the XR311 was best kit to put together? 😕
Right so I do want a truck but there’s a few issues. 1- they are many many Tamiya tokens. 2- I’d want the Grand Hauler plus the fuel tanker trailer 3- Tamiya keep releasing buggy’s and cars I want so truck goes further down the list.
Need to win lottery 🤞
Haha yeah I’d forgotten the XR311 was a great build too 🤣
Articulation is right.
crazy
Thanks for watching my friend 😎👊🏻
Something a little more complex for a change
Yeah I’m now looking forward to building my Mountaineer 😎👊🏻
Next video -"how fast can the Aeromax go on 3s and brushless ?" .
Haha 😂
I can just see all the body panels flying off it 🤣👊🏻
