He’s was majorly into martial arts and was a 3rd black belt. Also used real swords on stage and I think one concert he cut himself. He was super athletic and flexible. Hot as hell too!
I remember my Mom watching this with me on MTV (yep, I'm old). She laughed so hard because it is so campy. They were entertainers. They might have been the only happy metal band out there
The drummer (Alex Van Halen) is Eddie's older brother. David Lee Roth(the lead vocalist) actually came up with the name Van Halen. If you havent reacted to Eddie Van Halen Eruption guitar solo. Definately a must watch Van Halen was a fun band
Great reaction for your introduction to Van Halen. A fun song and a banger is Hot for Teacher. Also shows their sense of humor. Fun video. Keep enjoying!🎉❤
The original Van Halen group was David Lee Roth (lead singer), Eddie Van Halen RIP ( Greatest guitarist of all time), Michael Anthony (Bass Guitar) and Alex Van Halen (drummer extraordinaire). Alex and Eddie were brothers, I say were as Eddie has since passed on. Wolfgang Van Halen is Eddie's son and took over the Bass Guitar duties after Michael Anthony left the band. Sammy Hagar and Gary Charone were successive lead singers after David left the band.
Eddie Van Halen was listed as the keyboardist, but he also played guitar for the band. He wrote many of the songs for the group, and is highly recognized for being a great guitarist. The Van Halen brothers founded the group. Sammy Haggar also listed, became the lead singer after David Lee Roth left the group.
MrsPenPal, First of all, Rip to the best guitarist of all time, Eddie Van Halen in my opinion David Lee Roth is the lead singer and the best frontman in my opinion of any rock n roll band. Also he is a martial artist. MrsPenPal U need to react to Van Halen's Panama Music video. U will like that one also. Check it out.
When this video had been given quite some views at MTV it divided the hardrock fans into two camps! First one were the puritans who thought it was the worst kind of blasphemy that their guitar hero Eddie van Halen played on a synth! Why would that be so horrible one might ask? Maybe not so much in America but in Europe during the '80s you either listened to hardrock/metal or electronic music known as synth short for synthesizer. Second group were more cool about Eddie playing on a synth they felt it made no difference. Eddie was still Eddie the guitar hero plus the synth fit the song so to speak. The lead singer here David Lee Roth was known as quite the performer! The perfect guy to front a band on stage.
Van Halen was an American hard rock band founded by Dutch guitarist Eddie van Halen and his brother Alex in Pasadena, California. The band contributed decisively to the development of heavy metal in the following years and in particular the guitar style of Eddie van Halen is cited as a source of inspiration by a multitude of guitarists. Despite the various line-up changes, Van Halen have always been very popular: in the first phase they rose to prominence with singer David Lee Roth and then consolidated their fame with Sammy Hagar on vocals. The group broke up momentarily in the late 1990s, after an unfortunate hiatus with singer Gary Cherone, and then returned together in the early 2000s without achieving the success of previous decades. In almost five decades of activity the group has sold over eighty million records worldwide,[5] of which fifty-six in the United States alone. [6][7]
This song and the others were composed with Ed playing all the instruments in the demos . Once he and Donn Landee finished the demo tape , he played it for the rest of the band . The band wasn't too keen with keyboards because Ed was also the guitar player . He couldn't play both instruments at the same time and there weren't many sequencers that could help live playing at the time .
Great reaction. 😂The Van Halen brothers originate from the Netherlands in Europe just like the famous painter Van Gogh. David Lee Roth was the lead vocalist on the first 6 Van Halen records
David Lee Roth has earned belts in Kung Fu, Jeet Kune Do, and Karate, and has practiced sword-fighting for decades. He's been Training since he was 12 yrs old...
40 years 🎂 Written by Van Halen. The late Eddie van Halen, RIP, was inspired by ZZ Top album Eliminator. He and his brother Alex learned piano 🎹 as their first instrument. Knowing this helped them for the album 1984 and future albums. Thriller was Number 1 in sales in 1984. The fact that Eddie played on that album was why his band could only reach Number 2. L 🤣 L Suggested video 📹: Van Halen performs I'll Wait live in Montreal in 1984.
I've seen both classic versions of Van Halen live (with David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar on lead vocals) and both have their pros. Songs with David I recommend: Panama, Hot For The Teacher, Running With The Devil, Romes Delight. Songs with Sammy I recommend: Why Can't This Be Love, Right Now, Finish What Ya Started, Feelin' BTW Gary Cherone is actually from the band Extreme and is still active in there. They brought out a new album in 2023. Maybe he was once in Van Halen's live line-up?
4:29 ahh man, how fine can a girl get? .. ..you dancing reminds me of the 3 years I lived In the Dominican Republic... they can't help moving to the music. Cheers !
I just saw your reaction to Randy Travis (A Matter of Time), and now This one. You're good! Great reactions. I hope this doesn't jinx it, but I predict you'll hit (at least) 75K Subs this year !! Hope so.
*The message is not actually good.* Another, if not one of the most famous, song with a tragic meaning behind a upbeat and cool instrumentation production.
Hagar was good but Diamond Dave rocked. Van Halen never sounded as good after the split. Their sound was more pop than hard rock. It's also a fact that they sold more albums with Roth.

Eddie is the GOAT. His skill, talent, and sheer inventiveness were off the charts. There will never be another one like him!
This all happened 40 years ago Roth is and was a genius and the band was genius and magic also.
I remember my Mom watching this with me on MTV (yep, I'm old). She laughed so hard because it is so campy. They were entertainers. They might have been the only happy metal band out there
Great band especially with David Lee Roth! 😅
The drummer (Alex Van Halen) is Eddie's older brother. David Lee Roth(the lead vocalist) actually came up with the name Van Halen. If you havent reacted to Eddie Van Halen Eruption guitar solo. Definately a must watch Van Halen was a fun band
If I could play like Eddie I'd be smiling too! G.O.A.T.!!!

David Lee Roth …. Man he had it going on them. Hot as hell
My favorite incarnation of Van Halen was from 1978-1984 when David Lee Roth was the lead singer
Watch Van Halen LIve in Oakland 1981. They were at the top of their game and incredible onstage. Great Reaction.
Good job MrsPenPal...A+++
Van Halen invented that sound

Gary Cherone "Van Halen " is way underrated 👍✌️❤️🤘
michael anthony didn't leave the band....gary charone with van halen was a disaster... sammy hager with van halen was very successful.
Yes he did martial arts so that's why he could do all that crazy stuff !
Great 80's motivational classic song !

Eddie and Alex are brothers. Keyboard was cousin. David Lee Roth was a martial artist so he showed off by jumping and doing a few kicks
Gary cherone - was the inspiration behind the Knacks 80s hit " My Cherona " George michael anthony on bass

I was a teenager when this came out in the seventies, but I cant sit here and try to watch it being chiopped to pieces
The singer, David Lee Roth, has a background in martial arts.
Yes Eddie just played keyboard and they had 3 guys singing together 😮
Reminds me of Punky Whips by Frank Zappa. Need less hairspray and lipstick. However it's a great tune to play using DADGAD tuning.
Dave is naturally athletic but, stirring up the mix look at Sammy.
Jamie's Crying was one of their best early songs.
Great reaction 👍 Gary Cherone wa last singer in Van Halen ..he was singer of Extreme band

IMOI and I hate to say it, this is where the shark was jumped.
This is a song about suicide. Saw them in the 80's. Coke fueled mayhem is how I would describe it. Good times!!!
Def leppard armaggedon it
kung fu

Sammy Hagar was the best. Soory Dave Diamond
