As a recommendation to future people that try based on this video. The heating and removing the screen took me a lot longer than this video, don’t give up if it does not work immediately for you. Also be very careful when removing the battery, specifically for disconnecting the part where the wires are connected to your garmin. I basically pulled the wires loose but a lot of plastic remained so could not connect the new battery. Had to use quite a bit of force and luck to remove the plastic that remained.
I found that bit tricky I did the same as the video and used a mini flat head to pry it up
Did yout test if it is still water resistant after the replacement?
Step 1: Find a hotel or elevator with really chill music to begin disassembly.
Thanks but you left out some important steps for us dummies. The round, metal shim looking thing? How you finally got the battery out? Reconnection of cables? It would help more with spoken instructions as you go.
You don't even have to remove the metal shim on the back. Just heat up the front metal ring's glue to get the display out.
Thank you for this video it's only one I could find. I did not remove the backplate. Could see no reason to. I also found the replacement battery had a longer cable than yours. Which I fixed with cutting half the label off the new battery and making a mini loop. I had to double check a few times the polarity of the battery that was hardest part for me removing the battery clip from the ribbon cable. All working fine now and glued

So the biggest problem is to get a good replacement battery. Looks like only one vendor is able to provide something close to the original but the battery holds only up to one day without use. So it's basically pointless to open the watch. Sad.
do you mean those 160mah batterries on amazon and other sites?

What temperature do you need to soften the glue enough to remove the watch face ?

Generic li-ion cells are readily available in loads of places, craft shop, rc car/plane/boat shop, watchmakers etc
