As a Villa STH I've seen all his games. Whenever he has started he can go missing. He is not ready to start games or take over from Ollie Watkins. He has to trust Unai Emery who will make him a better player. He is only 20
hes nothing like ollie in that sense. I hope he himself realises what a Gem he is for us and himself, coming on at 60 mins and scoring. And hopefully he sees it works for him, and for us. Lets not change something that is working, just to "incorporate a star" so to speak, England do that, and it doesnt work!
@@jjfreer I hope Unai Emery can change the perception of what it means to start on the bench, which is what he seems to be doing. That ability to come on and change the flow of the game shouldn't be seen as lesser than starting. Comparing it to the military, many armies throughout history held back their best troops from the start of a battle; Napoleon and the Old Guard or Rome and it Triarii pre reform for example. It shouldn't be seen as an insult. As fans we shouldn't complain either as it means we get to see a greater number of class players yes for a shorter period of time but I think in this case less is more, plus reduced injury chance and increased number of games before fatigue sets in.

But why reward someone with a start, if it reduces the performance of the team and that player, which uiltimately reduces their star power and value. if duran starts and doesnt score 3 goals a game he wont look as good and people wont be so scared of him, as his stats wont be as fire as they currently are. The peception people have of Duran is jsut as vital as the skills he has when he does come on. Im sure as a sub he puts the fear of god into teams when he stands on the touch line.... is he gonna chest one down and spin and shoot or is he jsut gonna lob my keeper rom 40 yards out haha.
not a purple patch, hes had it since he arrived, the wow factor. Just tactically and defensively getting better with emery. Find it strange its took 2 years for people to realise what hes got. Prayed for him not to go after the weshatm thing in the summer, 99% of villa fans wanted him gone. Crazy Stuff.

Main issue with him so far. When starting he can be pretty ineffective. He benefits vastly with watkins being on the pitch before he is.
