- The Grand Canyon North Rim is beautiful! I figured the middle of this trip would be a good spot to take a minute to tell you about this Land Cruiser. It's history, heritage, and why this rig and this trip means so much to me.

Thank you so much for sharing this! Such an honor to his memory.
This is my favorite video you’ve done so far. I was amazed to hear the brief version of your FJ55 when I met you the 1st time. Loved hearing the whole story, & I know your dad is so proud of the way you honor his legacy!
Those old photographs are incredible. What a total badass your dad was.
I would do a front disk conversion. 2f and 4 speed. No modifications all bolts up. Just need a 3fe swap on one of mine.
If you ever need pig parts I have a ton. But looks like you already have a parts rig.
He never got struck is true. I have the photo of your mom and dad at grams with the brown Land Cruiser. I also have the exact picture only with me. One of my favorites. Most of my adventures were in the brown one . Then, we had our truck and went on adventures with the blue and white one. Great times!
I have hours of photos with your dad. He was a great teacher!
Love all the photos.
It was so much fun to see all the photos and I'd love to see yours someday too! He was indeed a great teacher.
Cool video, having a FJ55 is quite something, having a FJ55 with them memories is something else. :-) your Dad sounds like the real deal.
Brakes? FJ60 front disks?
He was the real deal for sure! I've had a couple mention of the FJ60 conversion. I've got all the parts to do it! Maybe I just need to dive in!
@@bossdadadventureguide4277 I mean, its your rig, you do what you do, but I'd not go nuts. FJ60 Axles would in keeping, keep her moving! (and stopping)
I think the only thing that is missing with the fj55 is the outfit. It definitely needs some bell bottoms, belt buckle, button up shirt and a brimmed hat. Maybe that will increase the HP?? 😜.
In all seriousness, I've heard this story before and I fully expect to hear it a few more times. Bummed I never got to meet Mr. T. Alderman. It is an honor for me to have had the opportunity to participate in a trip so special. Not to mention being rescued by you and the fj55. The legacy continues!!
Cheers to many more special trips to come!
Love this thing! I’ve got an 87’ fj60. In regards to brakes, you should get on IH8MUD and look at the conversions. There’s a lot of guys doing FJ60 front disc brake swaps for the FJ55 but use the Toyota T100 calipers and a 96 4Runner or 80series brake booster and master cylinder. Definitely a solid upgrade for your rig.
Oh, disc brakes would be lovely!
@@bossdadadventureguide4277 definitely feels night and day! Personally would be an amazing upgrade, that and a power steering setup from an FJ60 2F and mount an FJ60 or 80series power steering box.
Hey, question, where can I find the Drip Rail clamps that you have on your rig? I need a 2 sets of those.
Hey, quewtion, where can I find the Drip Rail clamps that you have on your rig? I need a 2 sets of those.
Does it still have the vase for flowers in the front, that your mom loved?
When I read this it suddenly struck a memory. Sadly that vase isn't there. I might have to dig around and see if it's deep in the glovebox or something.
