Back in the day, when you wanted to let someone know something, you sat down with a pen and paper and wrote them a letter. Then you'd put it in an envelope, put their name and address in the proper place. Then you had to find a stamp at home or treck down to the post office and buy one for less than a penny. Finally, the letter would be mailed from the post office or taken back home to be placed in your mailbox. That didn't always happen on the same day. After a few more days, they would receive the letter you wrote regarding your feelings. Things took time back then. Gave you time to think. It was a good, good time.

This has been around forever. In my day it was called "ghosting". No social media or cell phones, it was nice to just disappear and never have to see or talk to that person again. Good times.

Well put, Emily! I can understand young people "fizzling" people they want to end a connection with but the time you're about 25 you ought to have enough self-respect and respect for the other person to just call it quits in a nice and respectful way.
That's true but it is what she said... it not having a spine and is very immature and people don't want to deal with that confrontation. However, on the other hand, if you are looking to break up and can confront the person, 9 times out of 10 you end up lying about what the real reason is because you don't want to hurt that person's feelings. A big, for instance, is that a Dude may want to break up with his GF simply because he is not attracted to her anymore, but he cares a lot about her as a person, so he has to lie about it and make up something else.
So, I agree you should have respect for a person to break up with them but I feel like depending on the reason, most people will still lie about what it really is to spare feelings, which is probably fine in most cases
