Just get out and ride! Your Wife is Spot on! I hear that from the Misses a lot! You are spot on about courtesy. Most People are in their own little universe and do not think about those around them. Great news is you were out in the beautiful PNW on a DR650 on some seat time. Excellent Brother! Looking forward to more! Cheers!
Sometimes I need a nudge to leave things behind for awhile to get out there. My wife is awesome at recognizing that. When I see people on those roads I just assume they didn’t get “the book” of unwritten rules of courtesy. I try not to assume bad intent but I’ll be honest that I had to edit out a part where I pulled a Code 4 after someone in a Tesla went by me close at full speed.
Just the sound of the DR as you opened this video made me smile. Thanks! We got a little snow in South California at the higher elevations last night, but I should be able to get out and ride at the end of the week. I try not to join the Saturday and Sunday masses on the road but I do need to get out.
Rob, amazing what the sound of a large bore thumper will do to improve one's attitude! You are so right! Hope to see you out and about on the DR650 enjoying the SC area! The Sunday and Saturday masses are definitely a liability! Cheers!
I know what you mean - I love the rumble of a thumper. Be it in a video, somewhere in the neighborhood, or especially when I’m riding it. Not much can beat it. Look forward to seeing what you get up to!
I was over in the area riding on the bigger bike on February 12 - came across on the Edmonds - Kingston Ferry. Just stuck to 101 though. Looked great up there. That retired guy sounds pretty smart to avoid the weekend crowds 🤣. I bet we could make it through that area now.
Hi RT, Nice ride through the trees, a lot of downed trees & twigs. I picked my days off in the middle of the week so I can avoid the crazy masses of asses. That's about as far as I would have gone too before turning back. When I'm riding, I like to know the time and temperature too, even though I cannot control either of them. I tried the windshield contraption today, needs tweaked or the round file. I'll post the video.
"RT" - AWESOME !!!! What a fun road to ride on - and good decision - Snow / Ice.... NO THANK YOU !!!! Love watching and keep 'em coming 🙂 And yes - "RIDE COURTEOUSLY" - I kinda say the same thing - "BE THE COOL GUY / DON'T BE A DICK" HA HA... Cheers !
Sometimes hard to keep one’s cool, but I try to assume no malicious intent when someone doesn’t return a courtesy, they might just be ignorant (not stupid) of what they should do. Unfortunately on weekends it’s more likely to encounter those folks. Thanks for the great discussion guys!
Wow that DR is SMOOTH , i have double take adventure mirrors on mine and they vibrate bad on acceleration, maybe my bike being a 93 also has something to do with vibrations haha
That’s how I turn on the nitrous when I need an extra boost of speed… Nah, just kidding. That’s the controller for the Oxford heated grips. One button raises the heat, the other lowers it back down (and turns them off).
Thank you! I’ve been using a GoPro Hero 7 Black with a Purple Panda lavalier mic tucked into my helmet padding. I have seen lots of bears but no cougars yet, but I’m sure one has seen me. Ride safe as well!
Sure! It’s called Gaia GPS. I use the premium version, but they have a free version that’s worth checking out. I used the free one for a long time. help.gaiagps.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003524547-Free-versus-Premium-Membership
Great video, as well as the curiosity of the road. Well said. Need more content like that.👏👏👏
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching and taking time to comment! Stay safe!
Great video. Appreciate the courtesy comments. People need to remember there are others in the world.
Thank you! Sometimes we all need a bit of a reminder out there.

A wonderful looking afternoon to ride. Your buddy should have hopped on his WR250R and joined you! - Frank
FNA! Hell yeah!
Cheers Frank!
He was out on the big bike that day. Thought I might pass by him in my way home but no luck. We’ll get out there again!
Great day for a ride!
I don’t do snow either.
Definitely don’t do snow when I’m by myself. Got myself into trouble that way once.
Snow riding only with other's. ...that help pick up the bike. 😜 @Randomly Trees

Part of my footage from that day I mentioned you might be out and about. I even checked the pie place on my way home in case you were there 😇

Thanks VW - looking forward to seeing what you’ve tried so far with the windshield. I definitely miss it at higher speeds.

Yup OBI! If everyone adopted this there would be less conflict and less accidents on and off the road. Of course, you are spot on as always!
Cheers!

That might do it! Mine is a 2019 so nearly 30 years difference of vibration to loosen everything up!
Hi mate Mark from Australia just wanting to know what the little black box with the blue buttons to the left of your phone is.
That’s how I turn on the nitrous when I need an extra boost of speed…
Nah, just kidding. That’s the controller for the Oxford heated grips. One button raises the heat, the other lowers it back down (and turns them off).
Nice work on the audio. What are you using for mic/cam? Last time I went out to the Olimpics, it pissed rain, but I did see a cougar. Ride safe..

Could you tell me what mapping app you are using on your phone please?
Sure! It’s called Gaia GPS. I use the premium version, but they have a free version that’s worth checking out. I used the free one for a long time.
