Now this is how a fishing video should be. Great content... good information. Well done ! If you ever want to kayak fish port richey area... let me know. Again.... great job !!
Hey Brent another great informative video. One question, when tying your topwater or soft plastic paddle tail, do you use a loop knot or a clinch knot. Does one improve the action of the lure better?
Brent Schirmer thanks for the reply back Brent. Using more artificial baits and looking for any improvements or techniques that helps more hookups. Continued success.
Nice slam, have you ever fished the islands across from edgewater drive park? I plan on taking my yak out there Saturday morning. Also going to be using the Salt Strong Slam Shadys.
You can definitely fish a topwater effectively from a kayak, I caught my PB topwater redfish from a kayak a month or two ago. And I do sometimes if the grass is an issue
Here's a list from the video description of all the gear I used in this video with links if you want to check them out: Penn Clash 3000: amzn.to/35tct50 Bull Bay Stealth Sniper 7' 6" Medium rod 15# braid: amzn.to/36m1dbX 2' of 25# fluoro leader: amzn.to/2EKS5Ce Heddon Super Spook.: amzn.to/3d2tB6C D.O.A. C.A.L. Shad Tail: amzn.to/2VzTHVe 1/8 oz jig head: amzn.to/2DQIxF7
For this day I used fluoro leader because I figured I was gonna switch baits at some point and didn't want to switch leaders. If I'm strictly fishing topwater then I'll use mono leader
How do you go about finding your spots here in Tampa? Completely new to inshore fishing, and our main spot has been the gandy bridge. Picking up a new flats boat in the upcoming weeks, plan is to hit mangroves with top waters and live shrimp while using my trolling motor to run with the current. Any ideas/tips?
When starting out, going to local bait/tackle shops and asking people what's been bitting and what they recommend is a good start. Also local fishing reports, forums and videos are great places for information. But the best way is to go out there and try any area that looks good. Take what you learn from research and apply that to what's available in your area. Trust me, there will be days you go explore and don't catch anything. I still do that all the time. But there will be a couple times when you find spots that make the process worth it
Brent Schirmer thanks man! I guess that true and good to here. We all watch these UA-cam videos and it seems like they’re always on and on hot spots..... but again they’re just cut and pasted videos for us to see the action. Keep up the good work man! Love the videos
When I went down to the Everglades earlier this year, I caught all three species on a D.O.A. C.A.L. on a 1/8 oz jig head. I've also heard that D.O.A. Shrimp under a popping cork works well for the trout, and I'd assume Gulp Shrimp will catch pretty much anything down there
Great video!
Fun day. Thanks
It's great the way you show and discribe your fish. Thanks.
You make me feel so much better about saying dude all the time. Thanks, dude 🙏
Those are my 2 fav also but I use the white doa cal...

It's because of your channel I also bought the same DOA CAL and I'll tell you what, they work. Looking forward to more videos on your yak.
Great video. Looked like you were having fun. That’s what it’s all about.
Awesome video bro. New to your channel and I really enjoyed this episode. Thanks for bringing us along. Keep’m comin 🇺🇸
Nice fishing buddy 👍💪👍👍..
Idk if you remember me but i been here scince about 500 subs and its CRAZYY how much the channel has grown.tight lines man🐟
Came across your video this morning. Really enjoyed it! New sub here!👍🏽
Solid slam bro 🤙🏽
I love using spooks as well. Nothing better on a glass calm morning pitching it up against sodbanks for stripers.
Snug vs loop knots ? Look like you are using snug on the spook. Any context on it ?
Great video man
Any idea where I can buy that super spook??? I've been looking for weeks.
another banger!
I love the spook for northern pike
It's the males that drum so if you have the option it's better to keep the males and put the females back to spawn.
That's a good day 🔥
Only the reel ones know about that snook thumb
👍
Gotta love the sandpaper skin for days afterward..... 👍
Is this weedon?
Hey Brent another great informative video. One question, when tying your topwater or soft plastic paddle tail, do you use a loop knot or a clinch knot. Does one improve the action of the lure better?
I typically tie clinch or uni knots for both of those types of bait, but I'll tie a loop knot on a twitchbait to give it a more erratic action

Those islands are pretty good with snook and redfish on higher tides
@@SeeYaDude thanks.
Great video! Can you effectively fish topwaters from a kayak? Do you ever fish weedless jigs since your often fishing shallow water?
Thanks
You can definitely fish a topwater effectively from a kayak, I caught my PB topwater redfish from a kayak a month or two ago. And I do sometimes if the grass is an issue
What reel and line do you use? Pls share your set.up...

Do you use mono or flouro leader for your topwater?
For this day I used fluoro leader because I figured I was gonna switch baits at some point and didn't want to switch leaders. If I'm strictly fishing topwater then I'll use mono leader
Brent Schirmer thanks
Nice slam Brent always awesome videos And I am still trying to figure out why a blue crab answered your phone??
Saving that footage for the blooper reel 😂

Ha!!!! Another GREAT one honey!!!
Hey Brent! Any good advice for lures for back country snook red and trout in the Everglades?
When I went down to the Everglades earlier this year, I caught all three species on a D.O.A. C.A.L. on a 1/8 oz jig head. I've also heard that D.O.A. Shrimp under a popping cork works well for the trout, and I'd assume Gulp Shrimp will catch pretty much anything down there
Thanks man good deal
