Fishing with My Favorite Lure & Setup for Tampa Inshore Species

  • In this video, I went inshore kayak fishing just north of Tampa Bay, Florida using my favorite lure (D.O.A. C.A.L.) and rod and reel setup (3000 Penn Clash on a St. Croix 7' 6" Medium-Light). I targeted Redfish and Speckled Trout around oyster bars near spoil islands. It didn't take long for me to hook into some fish.

    Newbie question for anyone willing to answer. When your leader gets frayed and you re-tie do you just tie some more leader to the remaining leader above the fray or do you tie a whole new section to the braid? Also, love your videos man! They’re a big part of what made me go out and get into fishing after moving here. I appreciate you taking us along when you hit the water!

    I was popping ladyfish 2 weeks ago in Melbourne with a Mirodean. Every cast! I kept hoping that something worth it was among those ladyfish, but nothing.. after 10 ladies and 20 minutes I moved on. Couple of nice jacks. That was it. But it Beats Working!! :-)

    • @SeeYaDude
      @SeeYaDude  4 роки тому +1

      When the ladyfish show up like that, they get to the bait before anything else can. Still better than catching nothing though

    Great video ! Was wondering what kind of setup you would recommend for a beach/inshore angler to start out saltwater fishing with in the $150-$200 range? I bass fish now and am looking to get started saltwater fishing. Thanks for any advice

    • @SeeYaDude
      @SeeYaDude  4 роки тому +1

      For that price, I'd recommend looking into the Penn Battle II combos that Penn offers. I'd recommend the 3000 size medium light combo for $135. Here's a link to the list of combos: www.pennfishing.com/penn-combos-spinning-combos-penn-battle/penn-battle-ii-combo/1347893.html

    • @SeeYaDude
      @SeeYaDude  4 роки тому +1

      I've only fished with Spinfishers a couple times before, but they were good reels and I know people that really like them. They are more expensive than the Battle II, but they might hold up better in the long run. I personally own a 4000 Battle II and a 3000 Clash and love them both

    What are some things you do as far as rod and reel maintenance to get the longest life out of your setups?

    • @SeeYaDude
      @SeeYaDude  4 роки тому +1

      I really don't do much. I just avoid getting the reel wet with saltwater and I make sure to lightly rinse off my rods and reels after every trip. I did get some reel oil and grease so I might start doing very basic regular maintenance every once in a while

    My man have you tried the Penn Slammer III 3500 as your go to inshore reel yet? I paired it with the new Ugly Stik Carbon an lemme tell ya I’m impressed. Paired with 30lb braid and fluorocarbon leader it’s a monster that can tackle about anything with that duradrag system, plus you never have to worry about saltwater doing damage to the internals with the quality seals the slammer III has.
