There is a story in the Judges 6 about an altar that some claim was probably named 'Yehavah-Shalom': After an angel appears to Gideon when he is in deep despair as the Israelites are being threatened by the Midianites, he builds an altar that literally reads YeHaVaH-Shalom - although the vowel-markings read YehVaH-shalom. I imagine this verse caused no small quandary for translators, because when it comes to this verse, there a host of translation decisions made among the various Bible translations. The decisions sometimes appear to provide evidence for a pre-existing bias. If one has already decided that the name ought to say 'Jehovah' or 'Yahweh' as the name mentioned here, it seems that even the vowel marks are usually ignored. Some translators appear to have separated the name into 'Jehovah give peace'. I would use a paraphrased translation based on Isaac Heckman's (teacher at Assembly for Called-Out Believers) teaching on the name of YHVH: "Yah, the self-existing Father and essence of love, is the Giver of shalom. The site Gideon built this altar must have had a lasting importance for Gideon for the rest of his life, because he and his father were both buried at the site. "Later, Gideon son of Joash died at a ripe old age and was buried in the tomb of his father Joash in Ophrah of the Abiezrites." The commentator at Epignosis Ministries (epignosisministries.wordpress.com/) which appears to be a King James 1611 oriented site writes the following - somewhat surprisingly (as King James uses 'Jehovah' predominantly): "The Hebrew Yĕhavah Shalowm is translated as Jehovahshalom meaning Yehovah is peace but this is not all. Shalowm, pronounced shä lōm’ refers to completeness in number, safety and soundness in body as well as welfare, health and prosperity. It also refers to peace with man and peace in a covenant relationship with God, as well as quiet tranquility and contentment. This was Yehovah’s reward to Israel through Gideon because of the strife (Midianites) that had afflicted them. As I am writing this final paragraph, I am only now realizing that this message applies directly to me. This is such a comfort to know that in the midst of all the strife going on right now, my family and I have all of these things above. Hallelujah Yĕhavah Shalowm!"

There is a story in the Judges 6 about an altar that some claim was probably named 'Yehavah-Shalom':
After an angel appears to Gideon when he is in deep despair as the Israelites are being threatened by the Midianites, he builds an altar that literally reads YeHaVaH-Shalom - although the vowel-markings read YehVaH-shalom.

If one has already decided that the name ought to say 'Jehovah' or 'Yahweh' as the name mentioned here, it seems that even the vowel marks are usually ignored. Some translators appear to have separated the name into 'Jehovah give peace'. I would use a paraphrased translation based on Isaac Heckman's (teacher at Assembly for Called-Out Believers) teaching on the name of YHVH: "Yah, the self-existing Father and essence of love, is the Giver of shalom.
The site Gideon built this altar must have had a lasting importance for Gideon for the rest of his life, because he and his father were both buried at the site.
"Later, Gideon son of Joash died at a ripe old age and was buried in the tomb of his father Joash in Ophrah of the Abiezrites."
The commentator at Epignosis Ministries (epignosisministries.wordpress.com/) which appears to be a King James 1611 oriented site writes the following - somewhat surprisingly (as King James uses 'Jehovah' predominantly):
"The Hebrew Yĕhavah Shalowm is translated as Jehovahshalom meaning Yehovah is peace but this is not all. Shalowm, pronounced shä lōm’ refers to completeness in number, safety and soundness in body as well as welfare, health and prosperity. It also refers to peace with man and peace in a covenant relationship with God, as well as quiet tranquility and contentment. This was Yehovah’s reward to Israel through Gideon because of the strife (Midianites) that had afflicted them.
As I am writing this final paragraph, I am only now realizing that this message applies directly to me. This is such a comfort to know that in the midst of all the strife going on right now, my family and I have all of these things above.
Hallelujah Yĕhavah Shalowm!"
