Robbie, love your videos and the TV series that you made of your Canal trips, I hope that you will make lots more. Your love of the English canal system is very evident and you have the gift to show it in your videos. Fantastic, please keep them coming - Dave
Robbielad! REALLY enjoyed each installment of this journey. As always, great camerawork, and really makes me wish I was along for the experience. Well...the vids are the absolute next best thing! Please keep 'em coming! All the best... J.
Breakdowns just add to the excitement, stops it getting dull. 3 years ago I was doing exactly the same thing, helping move a boat the length of the country, overheating and breaking down repeatedly in the process. One thought, if you're going to be doing the Trent, is the boat reliable enough? after our 3rd mechanical failure we decided against the Trent and came round the long way instead.
Thanks for this update, glad to know all has worked out in the end after the frustrating times you guys have had during the move. I liked the thought bubble from Maeve :)
Hi Rob, Once you hit Burton I was expecting an hour long Pub of The Week vid 😀😀😀.......you are surrounded by watering holes....did you not sample any of the local brews? 🍺🍺
Still stuck in centre of Worcester with my boat. Looks like I am going to be stuck their for two reasons the river Severn is still in flood.and the second I am getting married next weekend and going on honeymoon to Sri Lanka. Hope the crt will be ok with it when I call them on Tuesday!
On no!!! I’m sure they’ll understand if you pre-warn them! Congratulations in advance, hope you have an amazing time and come back to a magically fixed engine! 8^)
Great series of vlogs Robbie. Don't be too disappointed that you didn't make Sheffield. The Trent's in flood and nobody is going anywhere! Barton Turns ain't my pub of the week either...... Keep up the good work.
Another great little update Robbie. Unfortunately, you won't be going anywhere for a few days now. I'm on the Soar and there's plenty of water around with more to come so it might be a week yet before the Trent is back open.
That’s ok, I’m back up in Lincolnshire, but what’s more I’m back to work until the weekend - as is Lou! Was a great two weeks off though, and thanks so much for letting me know about the river levels I will of course watch them keenly 8^)
If the plan is to press-on, I hope Lou can get help with the deep, wide locks coming up after Willington. I think it safest if she goes through with another boat even if that entails waiting for one to come along.
You can do it Lou! I single handed my boat from Fradley Junction to the Nene having only done a week on the (lockless) Lancaster canal, just take it steady and all will be well.
Oh I'm way behind now... Hubby had a heart attack & has been in hospital for 3 days, I'm exhausted going back & forth. Need some 24 hour sleeping now. Everything tested out ok. Better then the one he had 2 yrs ago. How do it get better? That's all a head banger... lol... But I'm glad Lou & my hubby are doing all fine. Lou will get better @ pick a good pub of the week. It just takes time. But she'll get it down. Keep CRANKING it Robbie, until next time, Chris
Great to see Lou has really taken to this boating lark. She’ll be fine after your expert tutoring. You weren’t going to get much further at the moment anyway as the Trent is in flood and navigation is closed.
Held up for 2 days for a pressure cap? The cap must have been in’t bilge somewhere and Halfords could not have been that far away - get a grip Robbie.😉 PS I liked the trick of letting Lou getting to the pub first and getting the wets in.😂
A day spent trying to arrange and then wait for an engineer to come out to check that it _wasn’t_ just the cap on Easter Bank holiday weekend isn’t unheard of. Went to local garage to order the cap and they could only supply the wrong one so not as easy as you think you clever dick! You’re also very welcome to crawl around the bilge and have a look for the old cap if you like?! 8^)
Good job cranking up to Burton come hell or high water and it's not over yet . Whats that sign on the bridge , you have to buy permit from a tackle shop to fish or your a poacher , funny laws over there old boy :-)
That is quite normal in the UK, in fact to fish anywhere requires an annual licence , maybe £40, but if the river [usually] has private fishing rights, fishing permits are needed in addition, , up to £500 per rod per day on Sottish salmon rivers. Fishing clubs are a good idea, they monitor the river and often stock it with the correct fish species, grown in fish farms for the purpose. A lot of fish are returned to the river, records need to be kept, disease controlled and foreign species [eg Zander, American Crayfish] monitored. Its a small island compared to north America and there is a lot of pressure on the water resources.
Any indeed, Coates is a wonderful Butchers - their sausages (both thick and thin) have filled many a happy stomach 😇I wouldn’t hang around in Burton though! 😱

Thank you Dave
Really enjoyed this and the drumming was fantastic. Cheers Robbie.
Best wishes Lou! Hope to see you soon! Great job Robbie!
Lou is doing amazing and seems so much more confident. Lovely stuff!
good job guys, Lou you need to start a you tube channel to keep us up to date on your adventures x
That looked like a really nice section of canal, I'm really glad you could get someone to come out on Easter weekend to service the boat for you.

You’re welcome John thanks for virtually joining us onboard! 8^)

Yes you’re right. Although that’s not a thought I want to entertain right now! 8^)
Happy Easter Robbie and lou??
And on cranking it 😂😂🥃🥃🥃
Her pose at the very end, when she was steering, looked like someone who was confident.
She was actually dancing ha ha so yes definitely!! 8^)

You’re right and well spotted re pub! Cheers 8^)
Good luck to Lou, hope you get to where you're going safely
Did you get a new boat or was it painted. The last video I watched (Boston) it looked in need of a paint brush. Great videos BTW.
Thanks Christopher. Check out my playlists for chronological order and you’ll see what’s going on.
Lou: Excellent Job, Girl. Good luck in you new adventure. Robbie: Excellent as always. Take Care. Naughty Lass is probably missing you.
Thanks George 👍 It’s great to be back onboard, got inspiration from Lou’s fit out so may make a few minor updates and plan for the next voyage!
Get cranking & get cranking to Sunny Sheffield!! We're waiting for you. Rog
No comment, just to wish you a very happy Easter and I look forward to future crankings.

Good idea - plan is back to work but thanks for letting us know about that. Although seems hard to imagine going anywhere with current weather! 8^)
