Boat Trip - Reef & Wreck Fishing in Whitby for Cod Ling Pollock & a BIG ENCOUNTER!!

- Lots of different species of fish were caught that day Pollock, Cod, Haddock, Pouting, Whiting and Mackerel, making for a great all-round fishing trip. Showing something a little different for the channel and a real treat for both me & my dad, Reef and Wreck Fishing in Whitby is not something we get to do a lot, so was great.
Although we have been Wrecking and Reef fishing before out of Whitby & on the same boat we had never filmed it before. We managed to catch fish & take fish home for the table too.
Not only do we have a full day Sea Fishing from the boat BUT we encounter a big North Sea Whale species as well… Pronounced “Minky” but spelt “Minke” this Whale species is known to chase the Herring when in this area and really was a sight to behold, gliding under the boat for a good while and seemingly just showing off to us.
In our own unique style, we start the video with a cake & a brew and finish the video with traditional Pie & Mash from Whitby.
We hope you don't find the dramatic parts of this video too much I just find joy in romanticizing the mundane for people that find this kind of thing mundane (we do not) so hope you enjoy it.
All in all we enjoyed making the video a lot so we do hope you enjoy watching it.
As ever do ask us any questions you like via comment or email.
We hope you can get out fishing & I hope you have some fantastic, safe fun, Finding Fish too. - Спорт

Thanks for the super kind comment, feel so bad for how long it's taken recently to put a video up, but yeah you're spot on, Whitby is brill especially off a boat. I will try to make the time between videos less next time I promise...Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🎣

Thanks Casters 👍always a cool comment from you as always on our little video offerings. Hope you and everyone are well pal all the best and Tightlines, Tim & Dave. 🐟🎣👍😎
Great to see you both Tim, your dads looking well. Very enjoyable insight into boat fishing. Sorry about your rod snapping, must have been one hell of a fish matey lol😅
Hope to see you soon, take care👍
Thanks for watching Stephen, kind words about us & the vid as ever thanks pal, yeah he's punching fitter now is the old man not perfect yet but I think it's a "yet" slowly slowly catchy monkey (or fishy 😉) gonna try not make time between vids as long next time if I can. All the best, Tim and Dave. 👍🎣🛥
I was on that trip and that is the second omni rod I have seen break. Perhaps coincidence or perhaps not the best of rods.
Thanks for getting in touch Ian, hope you liked the video pal, yeah I think it's the cheapness of the Omni Boat rod that probably let it down, but I have had cheaper rods last a lot longer so who knows. Was an addition to my fails list I seem to be gathering on my videos so helped the video perhaps 😅
Thanks so much for the comment pal and Tightlines for all your future fishing mate. Tim & Dave. 🎣🛥
Awesome video as always Andy, how times have changed remember wrecking 30 plus years ago and catching hundreds of big ling, cod, haddock, sad to say most tuck there catch home with them.Maybe thats why it decimated fishing in general
If only we could go back in time to see the damage we created and limited catches.
Thanks for watching pal, glad you liked the video much appreciated comment too, I'm not sure I can agree on any one theory as to why the wrecks and reefs and wider waters don't hold as many fish as they used to, but I'm quite confident it's not too much a result of pleasure angling. Pleasure angler numbers/catches even historically are unlikely the be the main cause of fish population crashes. Factory trawlers and relentless big commercial vessels have had the biggest impact I think over the years. The large scale commercial fishing industry with the biggest waste catching for supply is unsustainable. As far as my limited knowledge of fish migration and habitat would go, I think fish numbers on wrecks and reefs are simply mirroring overall world population numbers and just sadly its been crashing without an overall chance of total recovery as the commercials fish all weathers and all times relentlessly. As pleasure anglers we should feel proud we take (in most cases) only what we need or can consume and monitor our fishing areas for all the future (small scale) anglers to also enjoy the sport/pursuit/hobby. Thanks again and all the very best pal. Tim & Dave. 🎣
loved the video, only used feathers and lures ? no one fished on bottom ?
Thanks Phiip, glad you liked the video....as for technique, we used a combination of feathers baited feathers, baited traces and lures so tried to leave no stone unturned between us all. In skipoers opinion was a slow day really but we had lots of fun as you can hopefully tell from the video, thanks for the cool comment as ever mate, all the best and Tightlines pal. 🎣😉👍🛥
how much is a boat trip now a days
I think we paid £55 each but it's different prices for different trips, and tackle hire etc...the best thing to do is ask the skipper Andy link here: sea-urchin-whitby.co.uk/trip-information
Thanks for the comment.
