- Hi Everybody! Here's my quick and easy way to make VEGAN HAMBURGER HELPER!
I have 2 recipes here, first the one I showed in this video, and then I also have a more traditional style Hamburger Helper as well.

My goal at THEE BURGER DUDE is to show vegans and non-vegans alike how easy it is to make delicious and decadent vegan meals. I used to eat a lot of meat and dairy before going vegan, so this channel is aimed at people like myself before going vegan. Additionally, I totally welcome any vegans who might be missing one of their favorite fast food or comfort food meals as well, come on in! I want to show that you can still have burgers, mac n' cheese, fried chick’n and any other kind of comfort food, and that it’s possible with plant-based ingredients.
If you’re new to veganism and don’t know where to start, or if you’re totally new to cooking, or new to both, then I hope you find something on this site that piques your interest and are inspired to cook! And if you have any questions please contact me!

Violife has always been the best meltable cheese for me, I usually add a little bit of plant based milk to the Colby jack kind and that’s it. Comes out great
Dude! I made this recipe (without the sodium citrate) and it came amazing and delicious! Thank you for all of your videos, I’m literally binge watching all of them!
Love from a baby plant based girlie 💗
If you owned a restaurant I would go there everyday.
Me too! It would be one of those restaurants where there’s always a wait because the food is so good!
Sodium citrate is indeed magical. It's the thing in American cheese that makes it melty. In fact, if you add American cheese to any other cheese blend (for non-vegans) it acts as a catalyst and you'll get a meltier product. So yeah, great idea!
Made this tonight and it was DELICIOUS!! I used impossible brand ground, Daya(since they changed their recipe) and unsweetened almond milk. Amazing! Thanks for all the amazing videos!
Wow guess I got here first, nice video, I'm not vegan but seeing these video's definitely make it seem more possible for the normal person.
People resist going vegan because they think they are going to miss meat and cheese. Once you give it all up though, you don't even miss it. It's really weird but true. Plus, I've done quite a bit of research on the diseases that are in meat and dairy and what is legally allowed to be fed to the animals. Trust me, once you know all that, you probably wouldn't want to eat it anymore.
@@suicune2001 yup 💪🏻
Heck yeah! Anyone can do it! There’s such a stigma around veganism.. I just added free range eggs to my diet ad I’m scared that the hard core vegans are gonna come for me but we need more educated and less extremist in the community!
@@madisongracemusic "Free range" means nothing. There is no legal definition for "continuous free access." In Super Size Me 2, he gives his chickens 3 feet of space outside and that legally constituted as "free range." His chickens couldn't even go outside anyway because they were so fat they could hardly walk. And I've checked the actual USDA guidelines and yeah, nowhere on there does it state how big the space needs to be or that they even use it.
And unless your eggs are labeled as "organic" then the USDA guidelines says it's legal for the animals to be given antibiotics, growth hormones (except chickens), can be fed piss and shit, and other animals. So that chicken could have been fed diseased cow or pig or horse or other chickens. It used to be legal for them to be fed cow that died of mad cow disease but that changed in 2008.
I haven't looked into diseases in chickens like I have with cattle but a quick search on the USDA's website will give you a good idea on what's in those eggs. I'll give you the link to APHIS and just click the Avian link to see what diseases those chickens have. And remember, all the "organic, free range" labeling BS won't keep them from getting diseases from being cooped up in confined filthy conditions. Besides, eggs can't even legally be called safe because they are so bad for human health.

I keep finding what vegan food to eat and now i finally found this.
“Maybe you got the munchies...” 🤣🪴
Yummy!! An old school fav growing up. 😊
Looks amazing ! I want to eat that !
Nice! I have sodium citrate and use it in my vegan cheese sauce to give it a bite…definitely making this! I’ve been craving this dish and came looking for a recipe and found yours. Thank you! 🙌🏻
I use ground up black beans. Then my vegan cheese powder.
Love your videos! I would love to see your take on a vegetarian chicken bacon ranch sandwich/dish! Keep up the great work!
Looks good! 😋
Have been looking for a use for the homemade steak rub I’ve had sitting in my cabinet since I turned vegan. This was perfect! Yummy! I tried both recipes on your website & did a variation of the two (sautéed onions, garlic & used the sodium citrate.) AMAZING!
"Turned vegan" makes us sound badass 🌈✨️💕 I like it ;D
@@Katzykeens We Vegans ARE badass, definitely! 😉🦄💜
I think I am gonna try it with shredded soya chunks or TVP to keep the cost down.
You rule your channel is unbelievable please keep it up
Yes!!!
I really enjoy your Channel. You make the same meals I do with a store-bought vegan ingredients. Without complicating things like other vegan channels.
Delicious recipe
Nice, cool quick and easy recipe
Dude you’re the GOAT 🙌🏽🌱
What kinda of vegan sour cream are you using
They sent it to me but it's by this brand, I haven't seen it in any stores unfortunately. I need to make a vegan sour cream video sometime! onlyplantbasedfoods.com/
It's plant based cheese as well. You are awesome bro .Some healthy food.
I like cutting up onions and pickles for this recipe!
Your 'meat' looks so much better than the ones we have here in in NZ!
End toppings make me think of cheese burger rice
Very interesting info. I make my own cheese. Any thoughts on whether I could just add a little sodium citrate to the batter when I make it? Mightn’t that have the same effect?
I think it might!
Where do you find the squeeze bottle sour cream?
Do you think the sodium citrate would help a cashew cheese sauce from hardening up when heated? I always have that problem with my cashew cheese sauce
That is a good question, that happens I believe because of the starches. It works as an emmulsifier so the fat doesn't separate, but I'm not sure about thinning it out. Definitely worth a shot to find out!
May I ask what brand that vegan sour cream is? It's one of the last hold-outs that I'm still looking for a vegan substitute, and I haven't seen an option in a squeeze bottle like that near me so I'm curious!

I want to do this and add ketchup, mustard, and pickles.
With Violife shreds do you really need the sodium nitrate? Because isn't it creamy anyway when you melt it in a pot or pan? Just curious if it makes a difference.
It's creamier and the keeps it from breaking apart and becoming clumpy, even as it cools.
What kind of vegan sour cream do you use? I can't really find a good store bought brand.

I never make macaroni and cheese without sodium citrate.
Burger Dude i made it using Amys vegan pumpkin cheese and Vegan meatballs before u made this 😂😂
🤯🤤
What sour cream did you use?
I think kite hill most likely
I'd up the ante and add fried pickles 😎
Which sour cream brand is that?
I believe it was "Only Plant-Based" I've only seen it at one store here in LA, at Besties.
After watching this and you saying it's a burger Mac and cheese. What if you were to make a Philly steak and cheese Mac with the onions, cheese, fake meat and mushrooms and peppers in it. Damn. Now I wanna make one. Lol also this too. Damn I'm hungry now.
yes that's a great idea! Might have to try it! I have a few variations on mac and cheese in my list!
good for a garbage plate
What meat did you use
Impossible
As a German i habe to ask, what exactly is Hamburger Helper?😅 I know the Logo and that its American, but what is it?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburger_Helper
Es ist im Grunde genommen Mac and Cheese mit gebratenem Hackfleisch.
