I've only ever had Philly cheesesteaks with melted white American cheese, and I always add onions, mushrooms and peppers. I love the idea of using soy curls for the meat... Now, I am literally drooling watching this video. LOL
It's a rare thing to find another person that's allergic to onions as I am. I was already wondering how to make this taste good without onions. And I'm glad you're showing it. Thank you. It looks very good. When I make it, I'll be sure to give you a shoutout
I've made impossible cheese steaks before. I put the meat in a Ziploc bag and mush it really thin and cook it on a super hot griddle so it has more of that thin sliced ribeye feel. I tried seitan for them a couple weeks ago. They were okay. Used the rest of the seitan for gyros which were awesome. Stoked to try the soy curls. They were so good in the French dip recipe.
I made this cheese sauce and it is the real deal! Added some jalapeño brine and 1/3 cup of Rotel and instant queso!! Been vegan for years and this will satisfy the all-purpose cheez sauce cravings. Bravo!
We made your recipe today with the soy curls and marinade. I used a different recipe for homemade cheese sauce with cashews that we really enjoy as well...it came out awesome! So satisfying!
The difference that you make is toasting and buttering a game changer. I made tacos for my family. They saw my Philly steak and wanted to try it. I’m glad I made extra. I bought your book.
I tried the Violife cheese with sodium citrate from your other video and it was awesome! I've been using Violife for a while and I think it's my favorite plant based cheese currently. I'm definitely going to try this cheesesteak soon, thanks!
Awesome! Glad to hear it worked out. It's my favorite right now! I might do a video where I compare it with a bunch of different vegan cheeses and see which work the best.

This is going to be my new thing to make when I want to treat myself. The only change I'm going to make next time is to make sure I'm not using a sweet steak sauce, and maybe eliminate the molasses. I like my Philly a great deal less sweet.
Thumbs up for the Amoroso rolls, the pride of Philadelphia bread... the original cheesesteaks are made with shaved ribeye steak and chopped around on the grill with white American cheese and onion.... it will generally only find provolone used with sauce on a pizza style Italian Philly cheesesteak, and of course cheese whiz came along within the past 25 years, but the original tends to be the best... whether you go to Pat's, Geno's, Tony Luke's, or some other place they are all very good... good video for vegetarians so thumbs up 👍
Having gone to college in the Philly area and living just about 100 miles from there now, this was a super special vid for me. Here in our house, we do soy curls, plant based burger and seitan versions. We do add a bit of Gravy Master and beet root powder to the mix. Also, we love ketchup, hot pepper relish and sliced pickles on ours. Your recipe looks like a mighty good time! 👍
I finally made this today. Because I didn't feel like making cheese whiz I just melted vegan mozzarella on top. I also added sauted mushrooms. My husband, who is a meat eater, couldn't stop raving about it. He ate 2 sandwiches. 😊
I made this the other night! I never knew about this technique for tofu but man it turned out so good and flavor blasted. I added in some chili powder and smoked chipotle tabasco too since I can't help myself. since I'm vegetarian I didn't try out the cheese part, but I can definitely vouch for the meats. really cool work you're doing on this channel, man. who says going meatless can't be fun? this really opened up my horizons to see that I can eat some foods I've always wanted to try but never thought I could.
