  • Recipe here: www.joyofbaking... Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Chocolate Marble Bread. Chocolate Marble Bread is eye catching with its beautiful swirls of white and chocolate cake. Although it may look complicated, it actually starts with a vanilla cake batter that has melted chocolate stirred into part of the batter. The marbling is created by placing spoonfuls of the white and chocolate batters in your pan, and then running a wooden skewer through the two batters. This Chocolate Marble Bread (cake) is so moist and flavorful that it really doesn't need a frosting.

Hey, I´m from Germany and when i do this cake, i just put in the white first and on the top the dark, and then i take a spoon or something else and swirl it around :) I think thats a good thing when it has to be fast :)

I made this yesterday. It's a yummy cake with subtle complexity. I used full fat yogurt on my cake and the tanginess came through which was delicious. The texture is unlike most bread cakes because I used the recommended cake flour. It was moist, but had a different crumble and density. Definitely wait for the cake to cool completely. It gets more moist as it cools. I tried it after about 1hr and the cake was still warm and slightly dry. After about 4 hours it was ready to eat. Great cake. Wonderful recipe.

I made this cake and it's really good!! It was my first time baking so i didn't have much expectation, especially because i didn't have vanilla extract or proper tools, but it came out really good. Thank you for the recipe.

I've made this chocolate marble bread a few days ago (Probably for the fourth time since I made it the first time early 2020).
The recipe is great and the instructions are always precise and helpful.
To be honest though I add almost three quarter of the batter to the chocolate just because I love the chocolate bits more than the vanilla.
    Thank you Stephanie

I have made this cake twice already because it's fantastic! I love the texture: it's moist from the sour cream and I guess it's the cake flour that makes it so wonderfully tender. I followed your advice and mixed some corn starch to the plain flour and it's perfect. There is really no need to buy cake flour when you can make your own. :)

Stephanie, you never disappoint! Your videos are always helpful, homey and make me feel like I'm right in the kitchen with you. I found an online recipe for a loaf of chocolate marble bread but the instructions for making three rows of alternating batter read like greek to me. After watching your video, I'm good to go! I'm switching to your recipe too! Thank You!

I made this cake today and it was so delicious. My guests loved it. I used really good chocolate from Kind Arthur Flour and the taste was intense as well as the vanilla cake being soft and tender. I used chocolate whipped cream on the side.
    Will definitely make this again.

You can melt chocolate without it seizing by placing it in the oven at just under 100 degrees Celsius, (about 200 Fahrenheit). It melts beautifully, you just need the time to do it.

Hi Stephanie, Your cakes are delicious and I have made many of them, including this marble cake. However, I often have the problem with this cake of the vanilla portion being spot on but the chocolate portion turning out a bit dry. Any thoughts on where I might be going wrong? (I follow the recipe carefully but this last time I used 2% fage yogurt rather than sour cream). Thanks for any insight you can provide. Even as baked, the cake was delicious ,especially with a glass of milk, but I'd like to crack this problem if I can. Thanks!!

It depends on your oven. Your oven needs to come up to temperature however long that takes. Usually your oven will indicate when it is up to temperature.

It can happen for a couple of reasons. Something to do with the mixing of the batter or maybe the oven temperature was too low.
