- I decided to start my videos of fountain pen reviews with my very first fountain pen from two years ago, the transparent Moonman Wancai Mini. It is still one of my very favorite fountain pens, a very reliable writer, durable, and just a joy to write with. I hope you enjoy this review.

Great review, I was very confused about the names, thought it was 2 different pens. Thank you, your the best.
I’m really glad I could help.
Just wanted to thank you for your review of this pen. I recently purchased a Wancai (arrived yesterday afternoon) "So what have I gotten myself into?"
To the internets!
Your review was insightful and informative, very much appreciated.
The production values were pleasant as well.
I’m so glad it was helpful to you.
I think I need one of these little guys in my collection! I also enjoyed the “Clare in the wild” bit at the beginning of the video 😉
Thank you!! There are so many places I journal and it wasn’t until a short time ago I thought about filming them. I’m glad you liked it. 😀
I was on the fence about getting one & you helped me decide, thank you. I got the clear one as the ink sloshing is great!
I’m so glad you got one and you like it!!! Enjoy!
OMG, going through your backlog of videos is not going to be safe for my 'want all the things ' list. These pens are so cute.
What a chunky beauty!! Adding this to my wishlist.
Clare, are you careful with the inks you select for the clear demonstrator to prevent staining? -Marie
Nope! I’ve never put Baystate Blue in it, but I’ve used every ink I have in each on of them and have had no staining at all.
Thank you for reviewing this pen! I just purchased one and am looking forward to receiving it. It reminds me of my Monteverde MVP. They are very similar but the Wancai Mini is a 1/2 inch shorter and appears to be wider in diameter than the MVP. Nevertheless, I look forward to comparing the two.
Thanks for your review! I’m buying this def!
Wanted to ask what ink (that red ink) are you using?
Thnx!
That amazing ink is Pilot Iroshizuku Yama Budo. You will adore it!
To explain the nib swapping, for example I really like the lamy body and the shape of the grip and the weight of it but I really love how smooth the pilot nibs are. So I really really wish that I could put a pilot nib onto my Lamy. Unfortunately they don't fit.
That and one of the perks of the fountain pens is that when your nib does eventually wear out- they do last a lot longer than a ballpoint nib you can refill like the pilot v5 cartridge system - you can just replace the metal nib, thus saving on a whole lot of waste.
Just found your channel and I have one of these on order with their Q1 as well. How essential is the silicone grease for a fountain pen? Does it lessen the likelihood of staining or is it solely for lubricating and sealing? (Just getting into fountain pens but am seeing this in lots of videos.)
Since you put just a little bit o ink, do you had any issues with burping?
Mine leaks while I use it as an eye dropper. I can use it only with cartridges
It may need a new little o-ring or some silicone grease.
@@TheGingerNinjaJournals the o-ring seems to be fine so I'll try with the silicone grease. Thanks for the advice 😊
Hi, sorry me again. I had bought and tried with my sister fwp sunlit jade and some to most of the glitter was stuck to the nib feed. Is there a better way to clean out the nib feed? Thank you for your time -sophia
Actually yes!! If you take a soft bristled toothbrush and scrub it well under warm water running water that should clean the feed out of shimmer. But to clean the whole nib unit out, you’ll need a bulb syringe, like for sucking out baby boogers 😂 and you’ll fill it up with warm water and place it into the nib unit where it meets the section and squirt the water through the unit until the water runs clean.
I can try to find a video to link for you here shortly. I’m still at work. 😅
@@TheGingerNinjaJournals so you can take out the feed from the nib part from the wancai? I tried but was afraid of breaking it, so I didn't go further
@@PhiCraft03 Oh no. There is a little nib until you can unscrew. But for cleaning it like normal, just flushing it with water with the bulb syringe should get it clean.
Please help, what are the two size o-rings needed for the nib? Thank you for your time -Sophia
Sorry, I just saw this. Let me see if I can find out.
It looks like 6*5*O.5*mm and here’s a link to a listing on Amazon for them. I hope this helps! 40Pcs O-Rings For M2 and WanCai Fountain Pen a.co/d/aYanc1I
@@TheGingerNinjaJournals thank you so much!!!
What’s the replacement part called so I can search for it
Ah nuts. 😅 I don’t remember. Lemmie do some digging for you.
Mine does not work when its body filled with ink. No flow at all. So disappointing 🥺
That’s really crappy. I’m sorry about that. Maybe the nib is pressed to close to the feed? Look up how to make a fountain pen flow wetter on UA-cam. There are some great suggestions that may help.
Majohn is the old name, now called Moonman.
