CLASSIC MOVIE REVIEW: Psychiatrist Ingrid Bergman treats and falls in love with an amnesic and possibly homicidal doctor played by Gregory Peck in David O. Selznick's lavish production of Alfred Hitchcock's SPELLBOUND (1945). With Oscar nominated support from legendary Russian actor Michael Chekhov and a haunting -- and Oscar winning score -- by Miklos Roza, SPELLBOUND proves that "the master of suspense" was the master of romance as well.

Steve, your Hitchcock impression is dead on! And yes, Hitchcock did indeed have a romantic sensibility in his work. "Spellbound" is a good example, as is "To Catch A Thief", "North By Northwest", and many others. Let's not forget his romantic comedy "Mr. And Mrs. Smith". Love your review of this movie. Johnny is adorable, as usual. You're a treasure, Steve!
Totally agree. He does a good Bette Davis too. Such talent

Steve is Irreplaceable.
Hitchcock is my Favorite Director. RIP I Love his films.
Me too! Happy Holidays! Steve
The old analyst in "Spellbound" reminds me of the mother in "Notorious" - they're both absolutely brilliant actors whom I don't remember seeing in anything else but they're like the glue in each of those movies, holding it all together for the stars. I love the way you mention them in your reviews and I do hope you see this such a long time later.
I love both! You are absolutely right. Hitch had kanck for picking the perefect supportiung cast in every one of his films. By the way, I love your name. It's ther same as gorgeous Alida Valli the enigmatic heroine accused of murder in Hitchcock's "The Paradine Case". So lovely. Thanks for watching and for the compliments! Steve
Wow I love your evident joy for cinema when you review movies, I watched Spellbound yesterday and I always find hard to find movie reviews from classic films such as these. You just gained a subscriber!
O Steve, thank you for this! I had forgotten about all the doors opening. The whole movie is worth watching just for that. Gregory Peck was pretty boring then but he sure was pretty
Boring is always so much easier to handle when things are pretty. LOL! Thanks for watching! Steve
Great film review as usual and what an impression of Hitchcock!
Thank you, Sir! Much appreciated. Thanks for watching! Please take a moment and push the "LIKE" button. It really helps!.
you are sooo much fun to watch. Thanks for another great review. How about the "lust in the dust" movie with Gregory Peck and Jennifer Jones, please review that one.
LOL! "Duel In The Sun". I happen to LOVE that film! Good idea! Thanks for watching! Please take a moment and push the "LIKE" button. It really helps!.

Can't believe I haven't watched this one.
Me nether! I think you'll love it! Hitchcock mixed with that Selznick glamour. Perfection! Best; Steve
Rhonda Fleming pre-nose job. Don'tcha think? Anyway.....always wonderful to see the incomparable Steve doing one of my favorite movies. Always a joy. Beautiful Spirit!!!
Great selection to lead into Valentine's Day!
I think that Hitchcock had some romantic yearnings that his earlier British films reflected, but the combination of Hitch and the über-romantic Selznick as a team brought it to the fore. Even though the director and producer didn't always get along, they sure made fine movies together. BTW, the Freudian stuff in this movie also reflected screenwriter Ben Hecht and Selznick's reaction to years in analysis--something Hitch avoided (perhaps wisely).
Yes, with Selznick he had the huge amounts of money to sink into the productions. Selznick had class and a sense of romatisism and there was a great galmour in all his productions with Hitchcock. I love "the Paradine Case" as well, such a terrific ensemble and production and all about obsession, a favorite Hitchcock theme. Thanks for watching! Please take a moment and push the "LIKE" button. It really helps!.
Wonderful point about 'Hitchcock the romantic'.
Oh yes. Always.
Great Hitchcock! He sprang to life!
love your hitchock impersonation..dead on..nice review tho
You are the best! Thank you so much for watching! Please subscribe and push the "LIKE" button. Stay well andd SAFE1 Best; Steve
The surrealist film is 'Un Chien Andalou', the first surrealist masterpiece in the medium of film. It was made by the incomparable Luis Buñuel in collaboration with Dali. They used to be close friends, but then Buñuel went off Dali (for good reasons).
"Goodbye, Dali!"
Wonderful.....I look forward to ALL your videos!
You're so kind! Much appreciated! Thanks for watching! Please take a moment and push the "LIKE" button. It really helps!.
Salvador Dali LOVED using freaking ants. For him, it was a shorthand for something deeply disturbing.
Well, it didn't do him much good here. he obviously didn't read the sign; " Don't Bug Bergman"! LOL! Thanks for watching! Best; Steve
@@stevenhayes4063 How glad are we that Hitchcock was there to say no? 🤣 Still not as glad as Bergman, I'm sure
Yay new TOQ!\o/
I think I'll spend Valentine's Day with Valentino himself, perhaps The Eagle
Yes, I'm thinking of doing "Sunrise" and "Ben Hur".
If you want to take acting lessons, watch Michael Chekhov's performance. Amazing.
Yes. What a cutie.
The nympho who keeps walking in and out is none other than Rhonda Fleming..
Who better?
You're wrong about "Psycho". It definitely was a romantic movie -- about a boy and his mummy!
Which is why he kept her in the fruit cellar. Hmmmmm. Steve
How have only 241 “liked” this? Get clicking, folks!
GOD BLESS YA, HONEY!!! OXOX
as a 10 year old.....the ending was unforgettable/ movies never got any better
Not man movies end with you shooting yourself in the kisser. Revolutionary for the time. But, that was 100% Hitchcock.
johnny looks hotter with each posting
I don't like this movie...I've tried...Salvador Dali is more a celebrity artist than a true one.
