I appreciate that you made the best effort to complete as many tasks as possible. I understand missing the deadline resulted from the overload and asking for help might be challenging in some cultural workplace. I want to ensure we work together to prevent this from happening again. To achieve this goal, I’ve set up the weekly one-on-one m where we can go over the progress, talk about the problem and solutions, communicate the workload to ensure that things are on the right track. Before each meeting, please take some time to draft the agenda and we can discuss one by one. I trust that you will do well in the next project and I’m here to support your growth along the way.

This is very striking, personally. Recently, I commented my co-worker's sloppy job, which was cutting a cake. Icing was messed up or missing. She replied "It's okay" It made me boiling. I shouted "Would you buy those cakes at a bakery?" She was quiet. Now I know what I should have done. Greatest lesson ever, Annemarie!

We can see that you've put lots of effort into this project, and we all know this project is a tough one. To make things move forward smoothly and avoid any unexpected delay in the future, I would like to have a weekly report, which is not only about the work progress but any difficulties need to be tackled, submitted to me every Wednesday, just like every other team does. By doing so, we could be put on the same page and that other team members and I could offer help in time in case you need support.

      That's it!
On a sunny afternoon on a Friday, I invite this coworker to take a coffee before the weekly happy-our of the company. And maybe while I recount some old stories I try to put in evidence the strong group spirit of the team where he is collaborating, and the great pleasure members have to help others who find themselves behind with the workflow to go ahead together. "As a team, we work best when we know how everyone is doing and where they are in their progress going forward". And telling him that once find himself in this kind of situation don’t hesitate to ask for help from colleagues.

I appreciate that you finished a well done work, made with effort and precision.
I understand that this resulted from misunderstanding in instructions and I want to ensure we work together to prevent this from happning again,
To that end, I've created a schedule to follow next time, I expect that this will be helpful in further tasks given.
As a team, we work best when we know how everyone is doing and they are in their progress. Going forward, please share a weekly update. So we can all be on the same page.
I have every confidence that you're going to do well in the role and I'm here to support your growth along the way.
Please teacher correct any mistake in my answer so I can improve my writing 🙏🏻

Thank you for sharing your example! You've got a good start here.
I see in the first sentence, you focus on something positive. Then, in the second sentence I see, "I understand that this resulted from misunderstanding..." --> Can you share what "this" is? Was is it the good work done? Did good work come from misunderstanding? Or is there a mistake that was made? It seems there is need for clarification between these two sentences.

I am glad that you work tirelessly to keep the job on track. I understand that asking for help might seem difficult. It might feel like you are saying you are weak. We are always here to support you, and we can work together by taking some load off of each other. I am sure that the team supports you with everything, as you do too.

Dear Annemarie, thank you so much for this helpful lesson on how to give the right feedback at work. I'll try to keep on mind your tips when engaging with work teams from now on. Find here my example of behavior in the scenario you mentioned: "Hi everybody, I want to thank all of you for the outstanding efforts so far made within the project. In order not to loose this great amount of work and be able to respect the new deadline we need to set, I invite all of you to feel free and comfortable with reporting on a weekly base all the tasks you were able to accomplish as well as all the odds and delays you might be experiencing. This will help us not only be all time on the same page but also get the team knowledge we need for mutual help, support and motivation."

At first, I really appreciate all the effort you make. I also understand that being a multitasker is challenging for many people. So, we may work together on trying to finish all the needed tasks on time in order to continue creating the best image of our workplace. Besides, we are here to help one another in times of challenges. In other words, this team will always be strong by holding hands together. One last comment, your coherent style makes you special and I want you to be special all the time in every single thing.
