I really needed to hear those last few words about not needing to be the most upbeat version of yourself right now - it's something I know deep down but it's always nice to hear someone else reiterate it to you. I always love taking some time out of my day to sit down and watch your videos, and it's refreshing to focus on something like fashion when there's so much craziness everywhere else online! I actually picked up one of the Uniqlo lambswool jumpers in navy and I love it - I've also been layering it over a white button down whenever I want to feel a bit more put together! Thanks for the recommendation :)
Don't worry about not having anything 'interesting' to vlog about! you could be cleaning out your kitchen cupboards for two hours and i'd watch it! you just make anything funny and interesting

Lizzy - thank you so much for articulating your feelings so thoughtfully! I really appreciated a vlog you did back closer to the beginning of the pandemic and once again I think you are capturing what so many of us are feeling. Birkies are a must as indoor shoes. I didn’t know they made woolie ones, too, I have always worn Steggman wool clogs for the cold months, strappy leather Birkenstocks for the hot ones. I need the cushioning for my bad back, they make a huge difference. I think your description of “old items” is funny, my old items are 20+, even 30+, years old. I buy to keep things forever, until (if) I just wear them out completely. By buying classic, simple and high-quality, this has worked well. My Birkenstocks are 30+ years old, but I do have to replace my Steggman’s about every 15 years because toenails cut through the wool eventually. I love trends, but I try to buy from the more classic, and less extreme, side of the trend continuum. When black chunky boots, black mid-calf lace ups, and brown hiking boots came back in last year, I just pulled out my 20+ year old leather ones and people ask me where I got them. They are so disappointed that they can’t get them in shops now. As you can imagine, the local shoe repair (cobbler) gets continuous business from me. Not just repairing, but tweaking. For example, I have two pairs of woven leather sandals that I love, but the soles are extremely hard and hurt after a while. I’m going to get cushy rubber soles added and enjoy them, rather than pass them on. They also recondition bags, belts and footwear to like-new condition for me.

We’ve been on lockdown, more or less, for 11 months where I live. I have bought so many things online, out of boredom, that I got myself into a bad financial state. Going onto budget austerity just feels terrible on top of everything else! I just try to remind myself to be grateful that my parents 90 and 81, haven’t been infected, and should be vaccinated soon, and that the rest of my family is safe, it keeps me going. I always want to hear about clothes and accessories! I’m now doing cost-free wardrobe work: alterations, polishing shoes and jewelry, trying different outfits, stuff like that (the wildfires here in Northern California just trashed all my silver, even though it was in drawers, etc, there was no way to keep out that thick smoke). I also have clothes to be photographed and described for sale on Poshmark (I lost weight).

I have been living in the Weekday Seattle jeans!! Super comfy, they give really nicely and mould to your shape. I have them in black and can't stress how hard it is to find the right pair of black jeans. I am much curvier than Lizzy and they still suit me well. Really nice to properly get dressed, even just to schlep round the house!
I've also tried scarves on and off over the years and I agree with you nothing beats a good turtle/poloneck jumper to keep the warm in.
...and I'm planning on getting another Aran poloneck sometime in the not too distant future :)

We call those sweaters/jumpers with buttons half-way down the front “Henleys” in the US, I have no idea why, I will google it. They have been really a hit here this winter, I think Everlane was the first fashion brand to bring them out this time. They are always worn for casual, basic, outdoorsy dress here, and available at sturdy, classic, sporty brands like LL.Bean, Land’s End, Eddie Bauer, etc., but I can’t recall them really hitting the high street like this before. The one you show is a bit dressier than most I see, I like it.
Always look so forward to your videos. I agree, I think many feel flat right now. What a crazy time we are living in. But- you are a bright spot in my week and am always so excited to see a new video pop up. Many of us are alone as well during this time- missing our friends and just getting out and seeing life happen around us. So thankful to still be healthy of course but it doesn’t change the fact that the duldrums sneak in. You are like having a friend to connect with and you may not even know the the extent you have touched people’s lives- in a good way. Thank you for pushing through to bring us your videos even if you aren’t feeling up to it. You make a difference and you matter. Oh and ps- love the Birks! What color are they ? Are they suede?

Love this video - I agree about how bleak things are - I'm in LA and it's like that here too - so I appreciate some fashion and Lizzy cheer. I watch a lot of animal videos on youtube. The Dodo has my number, though I don't think they are a very ethical outfit. I share your lack of facility with time and knowing when I got things. As you get older it gets worse but you also care less and less. :) Oh, also I got that Uniqlo sweater in a men's small and it FINLLY replaces a very old used up one from Other Stories that I've been trying to replace for years.

Loving all those knitwear! Sadly, I don't wear knits often. Only when it's at least -20°C. Any warmer than that and I'll suffocate in it! 😆
