ONLY HEARING ONE TRACK?
You have to take it into an advanced editing application to see all the tracks. If you are just playing the recording with a media player you can only listen to one track at a time, it's like how movies have different audio tracks for different languages. Edit it in your editing app the way you desire and then when you render the video all the sound will be on track 1 again for you to hear and upload or use the way you want.
Multiple videos ruined because I recorded both audio tracks together & can't separate them... You're a legend, thank you for the in-depth tutorial.
You're welcome!
How did you do it
I feel this in my soul. Felt man, and LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
This video better explained it than some 200,000 views videos were explaining it.
One of the keys of it being being better for me is how you actually showed it working by putting it into an editor
I'm glad I was able to explain it in practice
I appreciate how straightforward this was. Clear an to the point
Glad to help!
I was so confused about OBS that I didn’t know it could be used for anything else than streaming, making my life much easier with this tutorial!
Glad to hear that 😊
This was the clearest video ever. Thanks for explaining! Lots of other OBS setup videos just skim over how the tracks work. I like that your showed the video file and how the tracks are separated when the settings are right. Thanks so much!
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you, even two years later this tutorial is WAY better than other ones. Much love bro 🔥
Glad it helped
Thanks for this. I want to edit out any coughing or other accidental noises that happen while I'm recording and having the tracks seperate will make that easy without interrupting the gameplay.
That's a great idea and perfect to do this so you can clean your audio
Thank you so much, i was looking for hours and youre the only one that explained it easy and logical ❤
Glad to help you 🙂
Thank you so much for making this video, you have no idea how many videos I've thrown away or taken down because of this issue. So surprised that more people haven't seen this.
Glad it helped!
thank you so much for finally being the one to be able to explain this from the hundreds of videos i got on them telling me the same thing over again about how to make different audio tracks only for obs
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much, this definitely helped. Very straight forward and love that you even put it into practice to further explain.
Awesome, glad I could help explain
omg how did i not think of this for the longest time, so many videos could have been saved if i had just looked this up sooner, thanks for making this video! my future videos will have perfect audio!!
Well at least you know now
@@ConCon right!? thank you so much!!
This is perfect because aside from you have absolute control of the volumes in the video editing.. we can also process our voices in audacity to make it sound better
Exactly, it makes everything much easier
I was digging quite a bit for this and this is exactly what i needed. thank you beyond belief
Glad I could help!
Defenitely one of the better descriptions I have found, amazing work!
Wow, thank you!
Great explanation and very useful information, thank you!
Glad to help
Thank you very much, you saved me hours of editing!
Glad I could help
Thank you for this well explained video, this helped answer my question I was trying to find regarding tracks. You Rock! Keep up the good work!
Glad to help you :)
OMG!! You're a lifesaver. I've been struggling with volume stuff on my podcast for over 2 years! lol I wish I saw this video sooner
Glad I could help!
THANK YOU I WAS LOOKING EVERYWHERE STARTING TO THINK I WOULD NEVER FIND A FIX!
Glad I could help
Guys please keep in mind that windows media player doesn't play 2 different audio lines at the same time. However if you load it into your editing software you have the seperate lines, but mediaplayer does only play one audio line mic or desktop. So therefore a solution will be to add 3 lines, one combined one that can be deleted afterwards and is just to replay with mediaplayer. and two seperate ones!
This is true
will this impact file size
even two years later you are helping people, thank you!! you gained a sub :D
Glad I could help!
Thanks you! There are tons of other videos that over-complicate it and you were the only one that actually explained what I wanted! Lifesaver! Also, for anyone wondering, it works in Davinci Resolve.
You're welcome!
you saved me a lot of time thank you so much
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much! I could not figure out why my audio was not functioning properly.
Glad I could help you
No other video helped me understand the process like this one truly a masterpiece. Thank you so much for the help.
You're very welcome!
thank you so much, 2 years later your video is still helping people all around the world, you explained it so well, now i can finally make videos!
Glad I could help!
Say you're in a gaming session with friends, and you're using discord to voice call, how would you record your audio and your friends' audio in separate tracks? Would your friends' voices just be part of the desktop track, or can you separate the friend commentary from the desktop audio?
I haven't figured out a way to split discord from desktop audio. That would be great though.
This works great for this exact scenario: ua-cam.com/video/aOrAsQgJvtQ/v-deo.html
Okay so the problem I’m having When I record just the desktop audio/ vice versa it only picks up either or. When I try to record both at the same time only 1 pics up the sound. If that makes sense I’m not sure how to fix it. My mic is 1 and desktop 2
Did you do this 0:50
Also does your video editing programs show all the audio channels like premiere pro does? If not then it might only use the first audio channel only
Also if you try play the recording on the computer it will only make sound for the first audio and not all of them. You have to edit and save the video first to merge the audio tracks.
Hey man, were you able to figure this out. Struggling w the same problem rn
how did u fix???? pls help me :))
@@imortalkko it turned out OBS recorded both audios, I just had to enable that from my editing software otherwise I would not hear my computer audio
Thank you so much for this explanation, I've been trying to figure out how to do this for a while and finally came across this. You helped, A LOT!! Thank you, so damn much again man. I needed this!
Aweosme, glad to help you with it
Thank you so much! I was having so much trouble trying to mix my audio well every time i recorded a different game.
You're very welcome!
I do the same but still it doesnt work for me is it because i use filmora X?
Maybe so, the application needs to be able to edit multiple audio tracks
I've been trying this for hours watching every tutorial on this but OBS just WON'T record my computer audio when I do this! I try moving the recording to an editing software and it only has my recorded audio of my voice, none of the computer audio!! I go into the actual recording and listen to it and it's the EXACT same thing, it only records my voice!!! I don't *GET* what's going wrong!
Please if ANYONE has ANYTHING for me to try then tell me. I'd greatly appreciate it.
Do you have these both checked off 0:59 ?
@@ConCon ..yes. I've really dont everything. I think it's just something with my computer..?
@@Gratey Hey, currently have the same problem. Were you able to solve by chance?
@@vrdnyn Nope, sorry... 😔
@@Gratey I was actually able to find a solution on my end, not sure how helpful it'll be for you (note: I use Final Cut but it might still be applicable). Basically, I needed to open the inspector screen so and had to manually select the other audio tracks. They were there but wouldn't appear automatically when I dragged them into the editor. Once I selected both audio tracks from the inspector, I could now drag them all and I had access to every single audio track that OBS recorded. Hope I could help :)
Wow. You make sense. Finally got it. Will try it. Been beating my brain in trying to figure it out. You made it look easy. Appreciate it
You're welcome!
I am getting ready to record an online video interview in 5 days from this post and this was just what I needed to separate the dialogue for post production. Cheers for the shortcut mate.
You're welcome, hope it goes great
This will make things so much better for any project thank you much !
Awesome glad to help

Great video bro, just started to have some issues with audio not being synced at all . Like Mr Curtis said this is way better explained because you actually showed it in Premiere pro which i use, thanks, God bless.
I hope you solved the problem
Perfect this is what i'm looking for thank you bro. You're the Best!!
Glad I could help
Holy crap! Thank you so much for this!!! This has saved me so much time when it comes to editing!
Glad to help, its so handy right?!
YO thank you man, i getting back into streaming and recording and I remember that I was able to separate the audio but now I had forgot. this was a quick tutorial and able to separate the audio tracks.
Glad I could help
You're awesome! I've got a podcast to record, and I want to make sure that my audio and the other person's are separate so I can do independent volume control. Thanks so much!
Glad I could help you with it, good luck I hope it goes well!
Excellent video! Concise explanation and visual detail.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much, I've been over thinking and panicking trying to figure out if I needed to use audacity as well to say: mute myself in certain sections of the video while keeping gameplay audio. I'm glad I can just do it through OBS.
You're very welcome!
@@ConCon Can I ask for advice, ive been at trying to learn to record gameplay/audio and learning how to edit it all. Are there any videos that you've made that would help me. Sorry if im bothering you, I just want to be good enough for myself and anyone watching my videos.
Thanks a lot bro, you really saved me a lot of nerves and time, I was looking for this for a very long time and in the end it's this simple

This is exactly what I needed, thank you!
You're welcome
I've been trying to figure it out for like half an hour and you explained it in couple of minutes xD
You're welcome
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Glad it was helpful!
Love this for editing. A lot of the times there's something on the game I speak over and I rather show it, then cut to my reaction after!
Yeah I understand that, hope it works great for you
Works amazing, thank you
@@ConCon
This video actually is amazing thank you so much.

Thank you bro now my voice will be louder in future gaming videos on my channel as it is very low in previous videos!
Glad I could help!
thank you, I have been trying to figure this out for so long, I had always wondered if thats what the audio tracks did but I was scared to mess with them and break something, and just resorted to cutting it all if i didnt like something
You're welcome

thank you so much, you make my day
i was finding this solution from past 5 days and now finny after watching your video, i solved that.
Oh awesome!
@@ConCon beother your trick was working, but now if i select my desktop audio in trank one and mic audio in track 2. The only track one is working, the other tracks are not working, and i allowed multiple tracks from putputt setting but stils, i got this issue plz help, plz
Thank you so much straightforward and no time wasted!
You're welcome
@@ConCon I was so worried I messed something up because the default windows media player I use only plays the first track so I was a bit confused at to why only 1 sound was working xd
great video mate, thanks!
Glad to hear that, hope it worked for you
@@ConCon worked like a charm

Yeah true!
Great video, to the point!

This feature will save me a lot of time and effort to cut the right exactly point of a game audio without voice and make a voice over, them mix all together to looks natural... i noticed while ago i have to record both separeted, finally i found how, than you
You're welcome
U really explained this right man! Thank u so much
You're welcome
Thank you worked great!
You're welcome!
amazing video! Question: What are good microphone filters in OBS to remove background sounds and to make my voice sound better?
I only use the Noise Gate filter, I have mine set to Close threshold -47.00 and Open threshold -45.00. Then 25ms, 200ms, 150ms below.
Depending on how loud your background is, you lower or raise the threshold. You can see your mic levels in the audio preview as you talk it goes green, use numbers there to guide you on softly you can speak but still be recorded (for me was -45.00. You should also see a constant noise indicated, I used the -47 to cut that off. So anything softer than those values does not get recorded when I speak.
I do way more of way voice editing in premiere pro because it has the right tools and controls, OBS is very basic with what it can do for audio
@@ConCon Thank you! I would use premiere pro but I get an error because my my computer driver is new so I am just using capcut till premiere pro starts working.
Thank you so much for this ❤
You're so welcome!
thank you, this worked perfectly. I never even thought this was possible LOL
You're welcome!!
Great vid! I have a question bro if I connect my camera to obs and I keep the settings like this it will still record audio on seoerate tracks? Also bro I’m trying to record my camera and mic audio and screen recording video all at the same time but on different files is there a way I can do that on obs?
You will need to set it to record screen audio on track 1, mic audio on track 2 and camera audio on track 3. Also make sure in your output settings that you have track 1,2,3 all selected to be recorded in output
Thank you very much for the clear tutorial :3
You're very welcome!
Very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
This is a great tutorial. thankyou
You're welcome 😊
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome!
I wanted to see how to do this just incase but you made me realize how this might actually be really useful for future videos.
Glad it was helpful! hope you get to try it out
@@ConCon I'm experiencing a problem though, premiere is not inserting the first 2 seconds of audio in the video, it cuts the beginning
@@HazFrostYT That would be an issue with your recording software having a small audio delay after it already starts recording footage. It's not uncommon and should still by synced to the correct parts of the visuals.
About 1 in 10 of my recordings do the same but I never start talking in the first 3 seconds on pressing record.
@@ConCon The video file itself has everything fully recorded, are you sure it's OBS causing premiere to act weird?
@@HazFrostYT I'm pretty sure yes
