Wow, there is no way you put that much work into it and then question whether or not you will wear it in public. The dress is awesome and the fit is impeccable.
Amen! And from scratch no help from a pre made pattern you have an absolute gift totally wear it with a navy blue three quarter sleeved blazer and a pocket square made from leftover fabric from the dress just saying and totally make a petticoat with a navy blue lace hem to fall below the hemline of this skirt to ho with it if you wish to add a little more length lol
This video epitomizes why I am such a fan of your channel and so fast! You write permission slip after permission slip for people to mess up, try crazy stuff, be silly, make mistakes, undo their work, and keep trying. Your channel is like the opposite of perfectly curated and I mean that in the best way possible. Thanks for making sewing accessible. I'm about to make my first split side, adjustable waist, giant pocket skirt thanks to you!!
I would 100% wear this IRL, although I would have to add 90 feet of 4inch lace to the hem to get the length Id be comfortable with. You look so cute. Please go on a picnic in the dress. But also just go to get groceries or gas or whatever. You are rocking it!
You have just given me the best idea of how to use all the leftover tulle I got from a friend's wedding. If I do it with tulle I don't have to hem it 😂.
UH, excuse me! That dress is seriously FABULOUS! It is one of the very best DIY's I have ever seen. Very fun, like you would say, "I am wearing this dress to dinner with my husband because he might fly me to Paris afterwards, and I need to be prepared!"
Funny you flashed some Liederhosen, because even before that, this dress is giving me some major dirndl vibe (which I love!). Make a little white blouse to go underneath, and an apron, and you're set for Oktoberfest!
I used a wedge ruler (quilting) to make circle skirts for my nieces, used offcuts of all my favorite fabrics - elasticated the waists with adjustable elastic and they loved them, wore them until they didn’t fit anymore. The oldest girls went down to youngest before it was retired. 😂 really easy lovely skirts
That was 1000+ inches of worth it! It’s adorable, and I would have worn that readily in my 20s and 30s. Then again, I’m covered in tattoos, and have bright red hair (I’ve had bright colored hair most of my life). Also, your dog is adorable. I would watch just for the dog, but your projects are just as awesome.
Watching this I think anybody who does patchwork should be encouraged to invest in an industrial straight stitch machine. I resently started working on one. So much faster and simpler.
Amazing, adorable dress & fun video! Just a suggestion: you could put underlayer lining with lace or ruffles peeking out of skirt ( 1-6 inches) to lengthen skirt part without doing whole skirt hem circumference... Great job!
I am not a sewer. I helped my grandmother for years with her quilts but I was not allowed to use the machine. I took a Joann sewing class and made a very poor pair of pajama pants and I found you because my niece wants to make a dress. I helped her make a pillow a few years ago so she would know the basics of the sewing machine (and I mean basics) and she went off and made a few other projects. Shes 13 and she wants to make a dress out of 4-way stretch material. the pattern is intermediate but I feel like I could manage it but the 4-way stretch makes me want to bash my head against a wall. I have a jersey needle and stretch thread and am using a zigzag and I want to thank you for this video because I have been procrastinating the project because I dont feel like its going to work out but now I know I just need to try. We did get a half yard of the fabric extra to do some test sewing to get used to it. Anyway I love your videos and thank you for sharing your adventure. I dont see myself sewing my own clothes but this and your patchwork sure make me want to try.
I've honestly never seen a video that have given me so much "I really wonder if I can do the thing, I think I can maybe do the thing, let´s go try the thing!"- energy. Thank you! My thing is a mens shirt, but inspired by a ballgown. Think matte black sateen and organza, standing collar, puffy sleeves, fitted waist. No Idea if it will turn out, Or if I´m skilled enough. But I want to know.
I LOVE THAT! My greatest hope with these videos is just to inspire other people to have the confidence and curiosity to try things, and your ballgown men's shirt sounds FABULOUS!
This dress reminds me of the dress from 13 Going On 30. I know it isn't exactly the same, but that is what my brain conjures when I look at it. It is adorable.
That is so unbelievably cute, and SO impressive. I am so inspired! Watching you wing it and kill it is amazing. (Also I have that purse in pink and didn't know it came in that indigo/lavender and am v jealous.)
I think we might be the same person 🤣 it's giving very "why do easy when can do VERY COMPLICATE" vibes and I loved every second of it! Using this video to inspire me to cut into fabric with little plan and no pattern 😅
omg, the swooshiness, i can only imagine how fun it feels. watching youtube videos, including yours, inspired me to try new things, and i made my own prom dress without a pattern, and with not so much sewing experience, fitted bodice, buterfly sleeves and two tier double circle skirt, all in around 4 days, and even tho its not perfect, i love how it came out and the experience i got out of it, and i finally have a dress that i like and that fits me... and it has pockets :). love your vids
Whoa, that dress is SO LOVELY!!!! I was mighty confused with the skirt start of the video given the thumbnail; it was really really fun seeing the scale ramp up. If I were to ever do this (which I wont) I'd have to have it go at least a palm down from the knee, which wow, I can, as you said, only imagen how much work that would be! I think this sort of project shows you have a talent for sewing and adjacent crafts. You do put in a lot of work, but still, there is a je ne sais quoi that makes your working on this first time (non professionally patterned) dress a sight to behold
Thank you so much!! You are too too kind! And I so want to do this longer... maybe someday, when I have an over-abundance of fabric for some reason. XD
Yes, wear the dress. As an old survivor of Catholic school, part of me suggests wearing bike shorts underneath, but that is MY problem. I love circle skirts, even though I don't wear skirts anymore (my waist bands slide up my belly to under my bra. Ugh), but my granddaughters, and my friend's granddaughters do, because I sew them for these beloved girls. (And...my 5'7" daughter, and my friend's daughter and daughter-in-law, who are, thankfully, shorter than me.) You said if you have an idea, go for it, and I do. I watch tutorials, like yours and others for inspiration and technical info, but then...I do what works in my head. I made a circle skirt out of 4 fat quarters for my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter and stitched it to sparkly silver elastic; she loves it. But now, with this tutorial? I have SO many ideas for more skirts for my girls! Thank you!
I know this is an old comment, but if you do want something to wear under shorter skirts, there is an amazing company called Snag who makes tights and leggings, including little shorts called chub rubs (I think). I have their leggings in several adorable colours including pink and a pale purple/lavendar. They are amazing for wearing under skirts because I hate my legs rubbing together when it's warm and because they are in cute colours, I don't care if anyone sees them if my skirt isn't quite long enough to cover them! Snag also now make some clothes, as their focus in on sizing that will fit larger sizes, taller sizes, etc, rather than conventional clothing sizes which just seem to be sized up/down without any adjusting (ie: plus sizes are always longer!)
@@LovelyLawla Hello! I do have 3 pair of Snag tights, and I love them! No binding around my upper thighs, the panty doesn't go up to my bra like other plus-sized tights. And the price is more than fair.
i LOVE that dress! Yes, it’s definitely lederhosen-y 😄 You definitely made the right choice resewing the waistband to match a little better. It only needs to be about double that length so only half the varicose veins show on my old lady legs and I’d definitely wear that! Hell i might make one anyway, just for shits ‘n giggles!
Dunno about everybody else but this is arguably as complex as making a pleated skirt given how much bulk you'd have to avoid messing up at the top, and how much of a pain it is to hem curves, much less hemming them to be the exact same length all the way around.
It looks SO fabulous on you! You really must wear it out in public -- often. It is THAT good. I'm jealous. If I wasn't in my 60s I'd want one myself. Love it!
That's the swooshiest, most whimsical, floofiest adorable skirt! I love double circle skirts but uhhhh yeah I'm gonna try 5+ circles. You're incredible!!❤
This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. IT IS GORGEOUS AND YOU LOOK STUNNING IN IT. You should definitely wear it out with the confidence of a goddess :)
I have a whole bolt of this sheer red fabric with little red circles on it of same thread/color. I've been tempted to do a floor length double circle skirt with it. Your dress is adorable. Good job! I understand your thinking!❤
This dress is *so* pretty! You should totally wear it irl, it's so dang cute! I don't wear dresses much, but I want to do this dress with about half of the circles and make it calf length, lol.
Wow, there is no way you put that much work into it and then question whether or not you will wear it in public. The dress is awesome and the fit is impeccable.
Amen! That makes me so happy to hear, thank you so much for being here!!
I know it’s not all about what is flattering, but this is super flattering on your figure and you got the fit just perfect. It looks amazing .
Aw thank you!!
I would 100% wear this IRL, although I would have to add 90 feet of 4inch lace to the hem to get the length Id be comfortable with. You look so cute. Please go on a picnic in the dress. But also just go to get groceries or gas or whatever. You are rocking it!
Okay, adding some lace to the hem might be the fix I need to make it feel a little more wearable!
You have just given me the best idea of how to use all the leftover tulle I got from a friend's wedding. If I do it with tulle I don't have to hem it 😂.
Oh my goodness that's going to be so floofy and amazing!!
OMG can you imagine adding tule to lengthen your dress? You would get a ton of wear from it. It's adorable now, add the tule and.....🎤 Drop!!!!
The confidence while you're modeling the dress proves this was worth it!
Aw thank you! I turned on some music from my college days, and I was indeed feeling it!
UH, excuse me! That dress is seriously FABULOUS! It is one of the very best DIY's I have ever seen. Very fun, like you would say, "I am wearing this dress to dinner with my husband because he might fly me to Paris afterwards, and I need to be prepared!"
For some reason this is giving me major Alice/Cinderella mash-up vibes?! So cute!
Oo this dress style would be perfect for an Alice look! Too bad I threw away all the pattern pieces when I finished... hahahahaha whoops
That dress is insanely cute ❤️ 👄 ❤️
"Why am i like this?"
I fel this in my bones 😂
Gorgeous dress!
LOVE the dress!! In the winter you can wear tights, a turtle neck and either knee high (or dare I say, thigh high?) boots or flats. CUTE!!!
"this isn't going to plan, but i dodnt make a plan, so i cant complain."
Im stealing that quote!
Funny you flashed some Liederhosen, because even before that, this dress is giving me some major dirndl vibe (which I love!). Make a little white blouse to go underneath, and an apron, and you're set for Oktoberfest!
Right?? It's ready and waiting in my closet for the day I finally go to Oktoberfest!
This is one of the prettiest dresses ever! I'm not a dress person, but I would wear this. 😍🤩
I love it. It's like it's own petticoat
I cannot believe you just whomped up a bodice pattern and it fit on the first try. 😲 That is some serious seamstress genius there.
I can't believe it either! I've tried making a similar bodice two or three more times since and it's never fit as well as that first one!
Your coffee cup is my favorite character in this video 😄
That is adorable. I would definitely throw my good Australian dollars at that dress if I saw it in a shop.
Well done!

Also, your dog is adorable. I would watch just for the dog, but your projects are just as awesome.
My goodness, what a beautiful dress. I feel like I need to make one of my own. Plus it's not a circus dress, but a boho folk dress.
Oh no you made a cake! Thats what my old costuming teacher called any dress that could stand on its own.
Watching this I think anybody who does patchwork should be encouraged to invest in an industrial straight stitch machine. I resently started working on one. So much faster and simpler.

This is such a comfort video for me, I keep coming back to watch it again
“Debated how much I cared” I feel this sewing energy so much 😅 Just did not this much seam ripping with a nursing maxi dress and it was still a lot!
Absolutely stunning dress!! I hope that you do wear it out in public and wear it frequently because it is so beautiful!
Платье просто класс!Очень люблю такие пышные юбки. И сочетание цветов фантастика!Вы бльшая умница!
Love the twin buns in your hair.

This dress reminds me of the dress from 13 Going On 30. I know it isn't exactly the same, but that is what my brain conjures when I look at it. It is adorable.
I would never ever have this much patience 😑 you did awesome!!
Please wear the dress to a DANCE. I’m thinking contra dance or square dance, both of which have lots of twirling and spinning. :)
So cute!!!
That is the equivalent of an anime dress. So much swoosh. ☺️
That dress is SO HECKIN' CUTE
That is so unbelievably cute, and SO impressive. I am so inspired! Watching you wing it and kill it is amazing. (Also I have that purse in pink and didn't know it came in that indigo/lavender and am v jealous.)

That could potentially be a grand stash busting project!
That dress is sewww cute!!! You inspire me ❤
I feel like this would be an amazing way to make a petticoat
That is like the best date night dress.

It's surprising how much you can do with them!
Wear it! It’s adorable on you ❤
This dress is so super cute!
Awesome, so cute on you.
Somebody get Lovely Lor in here!! This dress is giving clown-Lolita in the *best* way possible!

I watch/listen to you as I do my own sewing projects, 'cause you're hilarious.
I do this too 😅
Love the colour choice! 😃
You should wear it!
This is a gorgeous dress. Love the colours. The fabrics look terrific together.

SUPER cute little party dress!
I hope you did end up wearing this dress out - it's so much fun!
Brilliant. Gorgeous. Fits you to perfection. Congratulations!!!!
You definitely should wear it out. It’s super cute! I’d would wear it!
Absolutely gorgeous. I love it. Some party, maybe fancy dress - who could you be dressed up as? It would be a hit.
It turned out really cute! Love the swoosh too ... be great to dance in. Love your adorable pupper
So cute! My grandaughter called them “twirly dresses”!
I am freakin IN LOVE with that dress! It turned out so amazing and I got to explain multi circle skirts to my boyfriend
Yay, random UA-cam recommends ftw!. Coming in late, but you absolutely should wear this in public. Getting a 50s x boho mashup vibe from it. Adorbs!
It is FANTASTIC! You look stunninggg. I am in awe.
"Not on my radar" ..... I love it, and i am super jealous.
Urrrrrrrr
Matching up the waist band strips to the skirt panels, worth it 💯
This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. IT IS GORGEOUS AND YOU LOOK STUNNING IN IT. You should definitely wear it out with the confidence of a goddess :)
OMGosh! This dress 👗 is outrageous! It is dying to be worn in public!
I'm definitely on the hunt for the perfect occasion to wear it out!
You are just wonderful! I enjoy your videos, sewing talent, creations, and your narratives.
The dress is fabulous! Thank you for sharing.
I have a whole bolt of this sheer red fabric with little red circles on it of same thread/color. I've been tempted to do a floor length double circle skirt with it.

The quest for the ultimate swoosh 😍
The outfit you made makes me think of 13 going on 30 LOL
What an amazing dress!!!
I think we need more circles.
Wear that dress! You look adorable!
What a wonderful dress. Any girl from 6 months to 106 would love to twirl in that 🤗🥰
