When they formed, 100 Thieves were considered one of the deadliest rosters in Valorant.
Made up of a superstar rookie and four veteran CS:GO players. They had enough experience on the lineup to be one of the best teams in NA Valorant right out the gate.
But after missing VCT Masters Reykjavik, 100 Thieves had a lot to prove at the next major tournament, Masters Berlin.
At first, things looked good. 100 Thieves topped their group in Berlin, and the first two maps of their quarterfinals series against Acend were pretty close. But Map 3, Breeze, was a different story entirely.
Acend tore through 100 Thieves in the first half, all thanks to their star Jett player, cNed. 100 Thieves were at a loss on how to handle him.
Until they came up with one truly insane strategy that kickstarted the greatest comeback in Valorant history.

ahh yes the Napoleon strategy. just run from the strongest player until you win
Valid strategy. Can’t win games relying on one player.
So innovative, never done before in any game.
@@Lo33y_ It worked. From 7-12 to 14-12 EZ.
@@StewieStan2K missed my point. It's just not an innovative strategy. Let's not claim it is. Is it impressive hell yes. Is it innovative god no
@@Lo33y_ I get that you were being sarcastic. Though there’s no other strategy. Not one they could have come up with in the middle of a match.
The classic case of never celebrate too early.
I think Hiko must have had flashbacks from 2016 vs SK and experienced what it feels like to be on the other side of insane comebacks.
Nitro was also on that roster
@@StewieStan2K yes, I kinda forgot that.
Yeah coldzera jumping awp and nitro jumping 1 knife kinda have the same energy
It was against lg right
Yeah ......
A JUMPING DOUBLE FROM COLD
I think Hiko just had a haunting "A JUMPING DOUBLE FOR COLD" over and over in his head and he's just like "Never again"
I do feel bad for Ascend tho
Nitro too
Coldzera's face suddenly appearing on his mind, that's why he's standing and change position
starxo got served with a huge dose of karma
@@jackwatson2776 yeah but nitro also went on to have a more successful career in CS after that
It's called Acend lol
Yeah, Steel dying was definitely the most valuable play of that round.
literally
and nitr0's jett diff
Not sure if this is a joke, but it is. Steel was the IGL and more or less had the weakest firepower in the team. His sacrifice for info is a common thing that IGLs do even on less impactful rounds like this. If Acend was much calmer or if it had been against a different team that had more experience, this gambit by 100T might not have worked.
@@mark030531 well its a general right thing u explained, but steel is a bad lurker and a pretty bad igl. He is a good player in generall tho.
But his lurks fail soooo often and he continues to throw rund after round by sticking to bad tactics and bad usage of asuna and nitros fire power. If steel is surviving in afterplants or retakes, his team mostly loses other then some like ethan asuna hiko or nitro being in these positions. It was a good move to put him out of the roster.
@@Gerkan23 Uhhh yeah. I mean, him being a bad player in general isn't really that related to the Acend game and the strat highlighted in the video. But yes, steel was never really that impressive of a player nor an IGL even back in his CS:GO days.
8:34 most important shot of the tourny
Shit was cleeeeeeeeeeeeeeean
No cap
💯
Knowing asuna and 100t, the comeback started the previous round when asuna was in that 1v5. after he got the 3k and almost won the round, to me it looked like that is when they team was like we got this shit. and they used to tech pause to just hit the gas and just ran away from cned and won the series
I think the comeback started with Nitro doing unbelievable things with jett knives
i love the fact that starxo got karma’d on lmao “NA WHO?!” he asked. he got his answer 😂😂
ikr lol karma
It aged well tho, NA is nothing

Best game in pro Valorant to this day btw
For me, Nitr0 with the last knife was the major playmaker.
cNed could have isolated the duels with the Op and dominated again had Nitr0 not connected the last knife headshot
ofc lmao and they probably would have lost
Another key factor is the round prior where Asuna went on a terror. He was in a 1v5 and still ended up killing 3 and head shot the oper for 149. That round definitely helped deeply for saving the mental.
Ya'll can hate me all you want but Pansy's commentary was honestly so good and hyped this moment so well.
Pretty good caster
Who would hate you for this opinion lmao?

@@goldythefish36 a lot of the CSGO community hated Pansy simply for the fact she was a woman and she wasn’t shy about saying “X outplayed X” or things people deemed “rude” to their favorite players. She had stopped CSGO casting even a bit before she swapped to Valorant.
That one knife from nitro gave me chills. To think that maybe one pixel could have costed them the series and we never would have known this comeback could ever happen
damn if c9 completed it's comeback against fnatic it would be the greatest comeback in valorant history
Fax lmao
HAHAHA WYD HERE MAN

Truuu XD
Ya history of a 1 year old game lul
You can see how much Acend improved in a span of 1 month+. They went home as the Valorant Champions winners.
at least cned gets the acknowledgement for being a difficult player to handle, that's already a big one.
Honestly the sad part is that no matter how good cNed did it's always going to be over looked by the comeback 100T made imo
I dont think so? It's still impressive one single player made a roster of experienced players completely avoid him, and the fact they made an insane comeback by mostly following this strategy, makes that player skill even more impressive
I like to think of it this way.. As revealed by nitro, their strategy was to avoid him at all costs. Because he was unstoppable. Without Cned being a monster, there wwould be no "run from Cned" strat. Cned was just as much a part of the comeback, as the actual comeback itself.
Not really? One of these teams made it to the final tournament.
here they are at champions and where is 100T? they gone, their roster is finished.
@@batatanna indeed like in volleyball you specifically target the best player on serves so they can’t or are in a bad position to attack
After Fnatic vs Loud in the Lock In Finals, I think we can all safely say this isn’t the greatest comeback in VCT history anymore.
Fr!
good to see that Acend was able to use this experience to shape their team and help them improve to become the best in the world. Well done Acend!
cNed and friends is good
This is the strat that everyone aplies when there's a smurf jett on the other team
How is this so accurate lmao
100T taught us how to counter the smurfing jet in our ranked games 😂
On a side note: I would love to see Wardell vs Cned
Not even a question who would win that lmao
@@Fleischgewordener_Sterbehelfer think he means in a ranked game, not TSM vs Acend. They both are op gods lol
Na my tm8: would rather swing the op over and over they are just better than us
good luck convincing your team to avoid the smurfing jett :')
Sorry but in iron we dont do that here we dont rotate, we just rush
Not anymore, what happened in Lock in grand finals is beyond compare to this one
cned being 19 is the one thing that stood out to me in this video
nah, i dont think steel's on A is the pivotal point.. regardless if hes there or not cned will still push short. the most pivotal point in my opinion was nitro's miracle shot... its 2v3 1 knife.. cned is in a vantage point. hiko got it to a 2v2 but theres no way they can play a good post plant with cned cuting the site in half and zeek at mid.
cNed carrying the team and still losing
S1mple: first time ?
I saw this match live and it was an absolute disaster
*I even saw one player dancing*
starxo, he was getting clowned on twitter after xd
Damn! It was a treat to watch this match live!
“NA who?” Did not age well
@@StewieStan2K NA strats
@@StewieStan2K timestamp plz
@@Magma_34 Starxo said it after winning the first map. It’s in this video but you can’t hear him.
@@StewieStan2K yeah but can i get the timestamp?
That strategy has a name: it's called Defeat in Detail. Made famous by Napoleon and Stonewall Jackson among many who used that tactic.
Honestly for this series I think that SSG vs NIP at the r6 SI 2020 would be a perfect fit. SSG pulled off a great comeback and it was all because of a couple of clutches.
Gambit just pulled off a 12-5 comeback to win 14-12.
I still remember how tense this match was, pretty sure I lost a few hair and was chugging down water like crazy. Round by round the anxiety increased. Very proud and happy that the boys turned it around
Gambit vs Viking was the best comeback yet imo, if ace vs 100t didn't happen in the playoffs im sure people would agree
Hiko the clutch master spread some of his experience to the rest of 100T
I really loved this game as a 100T fan, it was amazing.
Enjoying these series of videos. Well done!
Run from Cned , man i don't know about the great come back , Cned is a giga Chad to make entire 100T roster run away from him
Jeez, cNed deserves a better team. The guy is a beast.
And vct champions begins 😅
4:25 cNed was the only one down to business 😂
Starts at 7:00 and ends at 14:30
Filler content - 11:30 to 12:30
And now because of this game, because of this loss. They eventually learned to overcome, to be the best, to be champions.
an even bigger comeback was against Gambit on Icebox. Gambit was uo 11-3 and 100T won 13-11. Insane.
Even though technically the gambit game was a bigger comeback but this game is still considered the best comeback due to two reasons-
1. unlike the gambit game where they still had a chance to qualify if they lost, this game was a play off and they are going home if they lose this
2. the comeback literally started at match point with a 4v5 where they had to catch up on 5 rounds without losing a single one so the pressure is insane
@@lazyninja137 ok

"The most incredible comeback in Valorant history"
The enemy team when we're up 10-2: *am I a joke to you?*
Spoke too soon, Gambit vs Vikings on Icebox is even greater comeback so far.
It’s so sad to know they missed out on champions and don’t even have a roster anymore
Watching that game live was insane. Especially when nitro hit that last knife on cned
looking forward for the ceb play
Probably the most intense Valorant tournament I've seen yet.
gotta give the MVP to shroud. he jinxed this match throughout the stream
what a sick video, great job guys
This was literally the only match I have watched live except Champions... it was awesome.
I dont follow valorant but am i the onlyone left wondering what the so called innovative strategy was. From my cs days it looked like a normal rotation after gathering info. strat=avoid their best fragger? amazing comeback nonetheless, but strategic idk about that
Yeah I had the same feeling. Valorant musn't have had many comebacks lmao
True lol.
@@farofa1234 with so little tournaments, its expected to not have many insane comebacks
Who said it was an innovative strategy. Look at the title. BIZZARE strategy
i think its more to do with commiting all of their smokes to a site they never intended to hit just to gain information and sell a fake and then walk onto a site with a cypher and viper ult, arguably the worst possible site holders to run into, the strat could have easily fallen to pieces if nitro never hit his shot on cNed because they didnt have util to block the CT angle.
can't wait for you guys to do the gambit v vikings comeback that just happened. that was insane.
ACEND was like 4 childish players yelling and singing to their father who tries to keep it together, cNed.
imo the most impactful shot in the wholeee match was nitros single knife kill on cned. if he whiffed that then it really would have been gg even if hiko did trade it. NITRO UR SO GOOD !!
Glad to see a video with Josh :) and yeah epic comeback
Hiko finally got over that jumping double from cold; he finally figured out how he did it
crazy that this comeback was just topped by gambit the other day
I turned off the stream at 12-7 because i thought it was over, turned the stream back on 15 minutes later and it was 12-11, the they won. Insane.
Watching this video after acend just won champions, it’s crazy how strong they bounced back
Glad to see your ads on the vids, thanks for qual content always thescore
Cned was probably the calm person in the team
imo 100t v gambit icebox game was the best comeback we be seen so far. They were literally with the backs against the wall and they went for a tremendous amount winstreak rounds
they had to find a way to put in the "DOUBLE JUMPING FOR COLD" clip lol
This takes Omen's quote to a whole new level.
This just makes CS:GO comebacks that much more impressive.
I think the best comeback in Valorant History now goes to Gambit vs Vikings
Had ACE Kiles instantly put up his Cypher Cage at 9:48 this game could've been different.
this gave me chills, still remember the first time watching this
You're just gonna ignore that Nitro jump peek during that breakdown. More than him dropping at just the right moment, his eyes were averted from there and looking just at his cursor where he knew he could get swung on from.
Nitro was on something man he was hitting every shot! It was a pleasure to watch him on Jett!
Sad that he will go to CS now but it is what it is.
I haven't watched fps esports in years, it's so wild seeing names like Hiko and steel back in the main scene again, love it!
Umm Hiko is retired from pro play
Global esports from india have comebacked from 4-12 to 15-13 in VCC quaterfinals India. that would be a great match to cover in this episode
where is that clip of ascend singing mid game that was hilarious!
i wish all my teammates could see this video before they ff after 0 - 4
‘ Their future is still bright’ you can say that again
Gambit cameback from 5 : 12. This one, now, is the greatest comeback :)
Is no one gonna talk about the 3-11 comeback against gambit they had on icebox in the same tournament????
but what about the comeback 100T had on icebox against gambit? i remember that beeing way better, important, hype and against a better team
"Against a better team"
sure
@@whoislucid Yes "better team" as in gambit was the team to win the tournament. I dont know what your definition of "better team" is but im pretty sure mine suffices
@@NOR-2pro4you wanna talk about champions?
@@whoislucid im not sure if you can tell, but this tournament was before champoins. Additionally, 100T came back from 3-11 to 13-11. Coming back 10 straight rounds against what was the current best team is a great accomplishment
@@NOR-2pro4you coming back when the enemy team is at match point is much harder tbh, you can make atleast some mistakes but on match point you just can't make any mistakes so its more pressure and still they managed to win.
This "Experience" knocked off two of the Thieves' youngest members...
This is why valorant sometimes is so unpredictable. Matches can have many comebacks, 100T really proved they can do it. Insane from them, it was unfortunate they did not qualify for champs. But I hope theScore will cover one of the greatest comebacks again. The GAMBIT 12-5 curse. 😎
hiko 1v3 on icebox has a cult status at this point
In clutch situations u never really wanna make your position known that means only use abilities/utilities when they give you a really big advantage. I think that shock dart was a really big mistake because he gains so little from that an in return the last two players can focus in on his position. It also meant he couldn't isolate 1v1s making a clutch almost impossible. I don' think that round was anyones fault tho im just giving my thoughts on how a clutch should be played.
I think he thought he was seen by Nitro already when he himself saw nitro behind the wall. So he didn’t think that he would give away his position with that dart. 8:47
watching this video so many days after Acend won the first champions
"cNed is one of the greatest jett players in the world" that is why he inspired DubsteP
14:44 sometimes, running away from your problems is the best strat 😂
I'd consider 100T vs Gambit on Icebox to be the best comeback, but ofc there was less stakes compared to an elimination match in platoffs, but still...
Great video though! Is it possible to make on of 100T vs Gambit on icebox?
I like how Cned (judging from the gameplay here in this video) is so humble even though they were winning, meanwhile his teammates.......
i thought the gambit comeback was more epic but this was an epic comeback as well :)
It was one of the best comeback but I think TSM vs GEN G was the most insane comeback
100T vs GMB was 11-3, and NRG vs sum rookie team I forgot the name of was 12-1, and they were both combacks
@@eshanraj8568 yup as I said, these are the best comeback. But I think ascend vs 100t doesn't exactly fit to this title. Maybe they could've made a video containing the best comebacks of all time
