I was so confused as to why they were both sad until I read your description. In all honesty I love both ships and respect them, if not all. It makes me sad to watch them both in pain as I love them dearly. It's a tragedy so see two broken hearts seeking comfort where they won't find it. I want to be mad at Marco but at the same time cannot find the strength. Though this is the first thing I've watch from you I can tell you are a very talented artist and hope to see more. Star came back to earth while greeted by Jackie angrily blaming me on Marco's death although it was months ago (including the Mr and Mrs Diaz). Knowing that if she traded her soul to him, Marco would be happy with his life, his family and his gf so there was no need of Star anymore. She accepted Toffee's deal and he resurrected Marco and in his place Star was gone. Now the ultimate chase begins. Marco and Tom work together to find Star but instead found Toffee playing with herlike a puppet on strings (which is what she looked like. No soul, empty eyes and no emotion whatsoever. Even her hearts were broken and dull). Marco angrily throws his sword at Toffee (now in his true form). It didn't miss but he is the immortal monster so he didn't die. Queen Butterfly found out and stepped into the battle, challenging Toffee. What Toffee didn't know was that the spell used to cleave his finger can kill him entirely, undoing all his evil doing. When they eventually talk, Tom was kind of mad because he was the person who made Star so miserable in the past. Star tried to make him remember of the memories they shared together in the past. But Marco had lost his memories with Star and Tom in order to come into Mewny. He told himself he wouldnt forget but he did. He no longer remembered his purpose and left without saying a word. Leaving Star and Tom distraught.
I find that this breakup between the three of them was the hardest for Tom because he cried...like...would tom cry if it wasn't a big toll on him? another thing I noticed that is just a little thing that a TomMarco shipper was when he said "those he loved"....Tom was the one Marco said it to 😊😊😊
what I'm seeing here is that marco somehow was killed or died when he was a young adult Tom and star are still morning there dear friend star missing her secret love and Tom missing his friend and there seeing him as a " ghost " but can't quite reach him and Marcos " ghost " walks away leaving his friends till another day.

As he died (HE died young) Tom made an fake from Marco and bring him to Star.He wanted that Marco will say good by to Star, that she wouldn't be very sad. But Memory was Coming back and that hurtet them both. As he was ,gone both we're really sad. Tom was Thinking Why he did that.
I like think that Marco had become evil, nearly killing all his friends. But at the last moment realized his wrongdoings. Not being able to control the darkness in him, Marco sacrificed himself for them and died. Star, brought along to an Underworld dance by Tom, discovers he's in the Underworld. Hopeful, she wants to see and talk him. But Tom has to explain that his soul was corrupted and Marco is now only an empty shell with barely any memories of his past. Now they both have to deal with the sadness of losing him, for they knew that they would never see the Marco they loved again.
I adore this song with all my heart. And to see it paired with my favorite cartoon, and done beautifully so, without any shipping bias, it made me cry. Well, done.

I know you designed this to let those who watch it come to their own conclusions and you did a splendid job of it. Seriously, first watch through you think it is Starco cause of the first few lines of the song but, watch through again and you see aspects of Tomco or Stomco seen when the words "those he loved" appear by Tom instead of Star and when it is Tom that starts to cry instead of Star. Splendid job at making a video that could inspire multiple different viewpoints.

The story I felt in this was that Marco had actually died and moved on to the underworld, and that while Star and Tom grieved together, they decided to attempt to find him in the underworld, but what they found, was only an image of his former glory.

But Tom is there to remember her that, after Marco and Jackie's relationship, and that he left Mewni, and worst, her, the Marco she knew is no longer there... "He's dead"... And she realizes... And tries to push him away from her heart and bring Tom back to it (as the series is going)

Is if at 1:39 when Tom says "Moved on" is if Marco takes a step past them, I think that would be pretty powerful, cause it's like he literally moved on at the same time as his emotions or something. Remember when star used the all seeing eye and whenever she was jealous of Marco and Jackie something bad happened to him. Well my theory is that one day it went too far and instead of hurting him she KILLED Him now his ghost appears and she's hopping he came back to life either that or this is a dream she has of the future 😳😱😰😣
My theory upon seeing this: When watching it, I saw that they were in their Blood Moon Ball attire. So I believe that it's the next Blood Moon Ball 667 years later, Marco long gone due to him being human. Tom and Star are torn up because he's gone. So Tom decided to "resurrect" Marco to make Star happy, only this time it's only a mirage of Marco not really him. Star gets happy to see him there, but then Tom has to tell her the true. He's gone, they both lost him, there's nothing they can do to bring him back, except to see a mirage of their friend.
I really like how this doesn’t follow the plot of Count Of Monte Cristo, Tom is a really nice dude and deserves someone who can love him for who he is. At first, I thought that he was just trying to put a wedge between Star and Marco, only because I haven’t really seen the show, but I’ve seen how dedicated he was to Star and he even knew when to break things off with Star when he felt that their relationship was going downhill and starting not to be healthy. My theory is that maybe Tom had to preform a dangerous spell on Marco to defeat a villain, however the side effect was that Marco lost his memory of Star and Tom. As time went on he forgot more and more, and it seemed that the harder they tried to help him the worse it got, so they decided that it was best they forget too (metaphorically). Tom feels especially guilty since he’s the one who cast the spell and he can’t help but to think of what else he could’ve done for Marco.

I'm seeing, from Tom telling Star "He's no more himself" and looking guilty, and from Marco's words and expressions, that this is a future where Marco went slowly evil and grew apart from Star and Tom. So Star stayed with Tom instead, and at some point, possibly after a war against Evil Marco, since there seems to be a lot of history there, like a conflict already happened, Evil Marco disappeared and was presumed dead-- "Could it be that you've come back to life?" But secretly, Tom played a hand, somehow, in helping Marco in his journey to evil, so Tom could have Star instead. (Like what happens in The Count of Monte Cristo.) And Tom's in denial about it, but is still tortured by guilt. And Marco, who has been secretly kind of following Star and Marco... he's kind of angry at them both, even if he still cares for them. At Star, for going with Tom and not understanding Marco enough to avert his quest towards evil, and possibly knowing what Tom did but being with him anyway (she doesn't know, though), and Tom for the same thing, and for whatever he did to Marco. While Star and Tom both have been weighted down since Marco's turn to evil with guilt for not understanding his pain, and stopping the fall.
My imagination gives me this: Something very nasty happened between the three of them, which caused Marco to disappear and not talk to Star and Tom for a very long time. However both Star and Tom were in love with Marco, and Marco had answered to their feelings (though separately, not to both at the same time) , so now all that Marco feels towards them is hate with faint bits of love. So after not seeing each other for a very long time they accidentally meet at the ball, where Marco wears a mask so that nobody would bother him. As Star and Tom see him they can’t believe their eyes, for they haven’t seen or heard from Marco for so long that they thought that he was dead, and their feelings for him come back- despite of the, trying to move on and try to live their lives the way they used to before. However, Marco still feels betrayed by them and thereby doesn’t want anything to do with them and so for him it was an encounter for the closing statement.
I love how this has nothing to do with the musical, and is, instead of a duet between two torn lovers, a duet between two people who just want their friend (And potential lover) back. I love whenever people make their own version of a musical's story from the vibes they get off of the song, and you did this excellently! Well done, DOGROM! :D

another thing I noticed that is just a little thing that a TomMarco shipper was when he said "those he loved"....Tom was the one Marco said it to 😊😊😊
what I'm seeing here is that marco somehow was killed or died when he was a young adult Tom and star are still morning there dear friend star missing her secret love and Tom missing his friend and there seeing him as a " ghost " but can't quite reach him and Marcos " ghost " walks away leaving his friends till another day.
Rose Earth The creator of the animatic said that he made it to show Tom and Star's feelings about Marco, because now that he's with Jackie their relationship has gone bad, and they just want their friend back.

I like think that Marco had become evil, nearly killing all his friends. But at the last moment realized his wrongdoings. Not being able to control the darkness in him, Marco sacrificed himself for them and died. Star, brought along to an Underworld dance by Tom, discovers he's in the Underworld. Hopeful, she wants to see and talk him. But Tom has to explain that his soul was corrupted and Marco is now only an empty shell with barely any memories of his past. Now they both have to deal with the sadness of losing him, for they knew that they would never see the Marco they loved again.

I know you designed this to let those who watch it come to their own conclusions and you did a splendid job of it. Seriously, first watch through you think it is Starco cause of the first few lines of the song but, watch through again and you see aspects of Tomco or Stomco seen when the words "those he loved" appear by Tom instead of Star and when it is Tom that starts to cry instead of Star. Splendid job at making a video that could inspire multiple different viewpoints.

The story I felt in this was that Marco had actually died and moved on to the underworld, and that while Star and Tom grieved together, they decided to attempt to find him in the underworld, but what they found, was only an image of his former glory.
The impact of the lyrics changes so much when it's reworked as a triad instead of a duet!

Marco is dead, metaphorically. In this video, when he returns to Star's life, is so confusing to her, she thinks that things could be as they were before... But Tom is there to remember her that, after Marco and Jackie's relationship, and that he left Mewni, and worst, her, the Marco she knew is no longer there... "He's dead"... And she realizes... And tries to push him away from her heart and bring Tom back to it (as the series is going)

My theory upon seeing this: When watching it, I saw that they were in their Blood Moon Ball attire. So I believe that it's the next Blood Moon Ball 667 years later, Marco long gone due to him being human. Tom and Star are torn up because he's gone. So Tom decided to "resurrect" Marco to make Star happy, only this time it's only a mirage of Marco not really him. Star gets happy to see him there, but then Tom has to tell her the true. He's gone, they both lost him, there's nothing they can do to bring him back, except to see a mirage of their friend.
I really like how this doesn’t follow the plot of Count Of Monte Cristo, Tom is a really nice dude and deserves someone who can love him for who he is. At first, I thought that he was just trying to put a wedge between Star and Marco, only because I haven’t really seen the show, but I’ve seen how dedicated he was to Star and he even knew when to break things off with Star when he felt that their relationship was going downhill and starting not to be healthy. He’s genuinely a good guy and I hope that he finds a girlfriend who appreciates what he does for her.

My theory is that maybe Tom had to preform a dangerous spell on Marco to defeat a villain, however the side effect was that Marco lost his memory of Star and Tom. As time went on he forgot more and more, and it seemed that the harder they tried to help him the worse it got, so they decided that it was best they forget too (metaphorically). Tom feels especially guilty since he’s the one who cast the spell and he can’t help but to think of what else he could’ve done for Marco.

Wow I'm so invested in this I'd love to see something like this as the actually story line in the show
I'm seeing, from Tom telling Star "He's no more himself" and looking guilty, and from Marco's words and expressions, that this is a future where Marco went slowly evil and grew apart from Star and Tom. So Star stayed with Tom instead, and at some point, possibly after a war against Evil Marco, since there seems to be a lot of history there, like a conflict already happened, Evil Marco disappeared and was presumed dead-- "Could it be that you've come back to life?" But secretly, Tom played a hand, somehow, in helping Marco in his journey to evil, so Tom could have Star instead. (Like what happens in The Count of Monte Cristo.) And Tom's in denial about it, but is still tortured by guilt.
And Marco, who has been secretly kind of following Star and Marco... he's kind of angry at them both, even if he still cares for them. At Star, for going with Tom and not understanding Marco enough to avert his quest towards evil, and possibly knowing what Tom did but being with him anyway (she doesn't know, though), and Tom for the same thing, and for whatever he did to Marco. While Star and Tom both have been weighted down since Marco's turn to evil with guilt for not understanding his pain, and stopping the fall.
But like, with how Tom star and Marco are now. This is perfect.
My imagination gives me this:
Something very nasty happened between the three of them, which caused Marco to disappear and not talk to Star and Tom for a very long time. However both Star and Tom were in love with Marco, and Marco had answered to their feelings (though separately, not to both at the same time) , so now all that Marco feels towards them is hate with faint bits of love. So after not seeing each other for a very long time they accidentally meet at the ball, where Marco wears a mask so that nobody would bother him. As Star and Tom see him they can’t believe their eyes, for they haven’t seen or heard from Marco for so long that they thought that he was dead, and their feelings for him come back- despite of the, trying to move on and try to live their lives the way they used to before. However, Marco still feels betrayed by them and thereby doesn’t want anything to do with them and so for him it was an encounter for the closing statement.
