Fantastic. Really dig the examples of different views and scenarios. You should keep it going as a series. Its crazy how different views and angles of the same action can produce different results and can even change the tone of the subject matter. Part of the fun of video editing! Your DCS camera videos are some of the best and I look forward to more! Thanks!
I was using a game controller with one axis bound to the camera movement keys and one axis emulating the mouse for rotation. I talked about how to set that up in an earlier video. Drop by my Discord if you want to chat about it.
One of the things I cannot understand on DCS when it comes to track files is HOW some big content creators ALWAYS get their track files with no errors....When I try, especially if there's a dogfight involved, my track files are always corrupted and planes will start to shoot missiles as they like.@@Sidekick65
How do you get the replays to be anywhere near accurate? My replays are typically worthless, especially if there are other aircraft. It seems the AI is still flying the planes and my plane has had its inputs recorded. The AI does something different each time and my craft is left shooting at planes that don't exist. My rudder pedals also don't get recorded for the entire video.
I agree dogfights with the AI can get "strange" if they go on for too long. I often just have AI aircraft. That seems to help. Also if you have two players flying that seems to help. Usually the first few minutes of the track file are ok, but it can be a crap shoot.
The problem is that the track is only a tool for debug the software. It not record the events, but the situation of the system. I can only get a accurate replays if there's few AI aircrafts and if the engagement is short. Put a lot of IA acft or a long air combat and everything became a mess. ED is promising a real replay tool, let's see.
My cheeks are blushing red all this time because I don't even consider it that impressive of a display. Heck, I could list 10 reasons why it's opposite. 😅😅 Still, I enjoy these videos on making videos. Very meta. ;)
I record most of my videos in higher resolution than the final product. This gives me the ability to move the shot around in the frame in post processing. I can also zoom in (to some extent) without losing too much quality - again this does give me the ability to make adjustments to the framing in post processing. I can't actually change the camera pointing angle, but the position of the image in the frame can move. DOes that make sense?
@@Sidekick65 cheers, yes this does make sense thanks very much though I was hoping that it was possible to change the camera pointing angle after recording... oh well hopefully DCS catches wind of this and makes it possible as it would be a great feature to have... thanks again mate.
Are you sure you are watching the tack file and now actually playing it? 🤔 pull your joystick and see if it effects the aircraft. If it does, you are not watching the track file you are plying it.
@@oalithgowNothing to do with being dumb btw, DCS is not user friendly in pretty much anyway. Often you may thing a system or process is completely broken simply because there is nothing telling you whats going on. Often the fix is ticking a box or flicking a switch. Unfortunately I have no idea why you cannot switch camera angles! Another seemingly dumb fix but worth a shot, check your key binds or set a new one.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll try to keep them coming.
Love all your cinematic tutorials! Great vid Iain!
Glad you find them helpful!
Astonishing! Thnx - Didn’t know a fraction of all you showed here 😱
My work here is done then!
DCS Cinematics is a true art B)
Thanks for these nice hints
Thanks. I hope you can put them to good use!
hey man! How did you make the camera rotate like you did at 15:24 and 15:53 ? Thanks!

Gonna Watch this later! Thanks for sharing!!🔥🔥🔥
Hope you like it! Enjoy.

Great video! I hope ED will implement real playback like video player. Forward, backward etc...
Very nice and thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Way cool!
Thanks!
So I’ve opened one of my tracks in replays and I can’t use the object camera on my own plane, but I can on others. Any thoughts?
How do you pull the camera shots from DCS into a video editor to edit your shots?
I use OBS studio to record DCS video as it is playing. There are other options, but that works for me.
@@Sidekick65 Thank you

Well anyone who has tried intercepting bombers at 25,000' in an Anton will know that it is not nearly as easy as you made it look.
Can these angles be manipulated after recording because I'd find some hard to do in some outta balance angles... thanks

hello can i reverse the video?
Why can't I use any camera when watching a mission track file? I Press F2 and nothing happens, just stay in cockpit view

@@Captain-Fox obviously, Im not that dumb, lol.. BTW.. I'm using VR. Haven't test it with only on normal monitor mode.

Thank you for this video. There are just so many camera commands and I can sometimes not figure out which commands do what.
Yup. I think binding them to buttons on my game controller helped
