How Link is Rewriting His Own Existence ► • How Link is Rewriting ...
The final battle against Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time is something that doesn't need an introduction. Beast Ganon shook our confidence as he knocked the Master Sword out of our hands. But when I played around in this scenario as a kid, I set my eyes on something different... The silly fire barrier that surrounds the arena. It is by far one of the most absurd things in Zelda and I'm hear today to tell you why. Along the way we'll cover a lot of other neat things too, so I hope you'll enjoy!

So...the true source of ganondorf's power isn't the triforce of power, but his legendary pants....that explains why he was so unstable as a beast in botw, he didn't have his pants
Inhibitor Pants
I always thought his horse is pretty cool
"What? Don't be absurd! My leather pants aren't the source of my power!"
"Wait what they're not?"
"No no no, I'm afraid my power comes from my leather _shoes_ ."
@@Greywander87 maybe the shoes are the batery and the pants are the "sistem"
@@RiverOfTheHeart The opposite of that.
4:26 that Goron Tunic isn’t doing Link any favors.
I agree. If I don't explicitly need to wear the Goron or Zora Tunics, I always wore the Kokiri Tunic.
I absolutely LOVE how you take mechanical aspects and treat them deadpan like Dramatic aspects lol gets me every time!!
I dunno, I think the most powerful magic in OoT is the window in the Pedestal of Time room. Couldn’t ganondorf see through that window and look right at the master sword?
I'm just imagining Ganondorf pressed up against a normal glass window, staring longingly at the Master Sword, and be like "Why can't I get to you?!"
Alex95 as a teardrop slowly rolls down his cheek, and in the background you can hear, “Hello darkness, my old friend...”
Maybe Ganondorf just assumed that nobody would be that stupid, as to put the master sword in a room with windows.
Shatters the glass.
"Ganondorf's pants just explode out of the rubble and float off into the smoke filled skies."
An oscar winning description.
When I was about 9 or 10 and I finally made it to Ganon, the final boss, I was disappointed that I was unable to explore the area surrounding the battlegrounds. For some reason the entirety of it looked a lot smaller than I thought it should due to the castle interior feeling so huge in comparison, but I was still infatuated with the background of the final boss fight and always wondered what it would be like. Thanks for finally demystifying a part of Ocarina of Time that 10 year old me had always revisited repeatedly out of pure curiosity. Stay awesome SwankyBox!
But you said you were 13.

The greatest enemy: *Ganondorf pants*
And here is it's rival but not unexpectedly brother:MoonLord's legs.
@@lorelo. before getting to his core, you need to release 2 true balls of cthulhu
So the true final boss was always Ganondorf's pants never him.
Soooo...
The pants have taken over Ganondorf's body!
AND CONTROLLED HIM ALL THE TIME! D:
No one is born cool, except of course UA-camrs who say you can dislike the video.
Couldn’t Ganon just put the barrier around Link and leave him there?
Farore's Wind
That would make the game unbeatable, BUT, it is an intreresting concept.
Spells have odd rules. Wall of fire, from dnd, can only have 1 of 2 sets of dimensions, big wall and big ring. No small option
@@finderfinder4290 He can still walk out of it.
Might be that the magic barrier requires Ganon/Ganondorf to remain inside it to power it or focus it. Kind of like a “Compel Duel” spell meant to force a fight to happen.
Also, pride. Why would the Gerudo King of Evil be scared away by some scrawny teenager wearing tights?
That Link scream while being on fire continuously with Zelda screaming out every now and then sounds quite scary.
Everyone knows that Zelda put up that fire barrier, and refuses to toss link the sword back to help him realize the power was not in the sword but in him all along.
This sounds so...true lmao
Seems unwise, but explains why Zelda doesn't just throw the sword. Battles over The Fate Of The World are not appropriate places for character development Zelda!
Or maybe Ganon created the fire barrier and Zelda doesn't toss the Master Sword back because she's not the sword's chosen wielder and therefore can't pull it out of the ground without dying as seen in BotW.
The new sisterhood of the traveling pants got weird.
Its absolutely amazing how many thing still being discovered in this game regardless of the steps needed to discover them
Ganondorf’s pants did what no one else could. Ended the game once and for all.
A fight against a Ganondorf that was the size of the castle sounds amazing, in fact, fighting a large Ganon kinda reminds me of BOTW's final boss...
Maybe in breath of the wild 2 we'll get true beast ganon and he'll be the size of a Hyrule Castle.
to think that all this time this particular barrier was one of the strongest weapons in his arsenal
Gamondorfs trousers the source of all evil
Those impassable barriers always annoyed me as a kid. I used to love levitating all over Hyrule and it feels like these things are everywhere. Well not everywhere, but they're certainly not uncommon. It's cool to see you test out various different ways of breaking them
Man if i was Ganon i would just retreat like Sauron and be prepared.
After he dies and the Triforce of Power reboots Ganon in safe mode, I don't think he's capable of making overly complex decisions.
@@Kryptnyt The immediate one is just the Joestar secret technique.

Who needs the Triforce when you have the magical floating thighs of a 7'6'' man whose ankle muscles would make John Cena piss himself at the mere sight?
I used the Deku nuts against ganondorf
Did you get him?
@@cixlo yeah
@@MindeFlex ha!
Gottem
These nuts
You know the Garo in Majora’s Mask have this same ability .
It would be cool if Ganondorf learned this ability from them.
What I think is the most awesome part about this boss fight, is the absolute perfect mix of cut-scene and interactivity of the final blow. It is beyond epic! I love when games do this!
Link has a much more powerful magic at his disposal, allowing him to warp from Kokiri Forest straight to the credits. How about that?
Or if you leave glitches aside, what about the Triforce and the Golden Realm? What about going seven years forward and backward in time? What about the gods sinking the entire world under water?
I love you Swanky BOX, do more legend of Zelda videos
Face it everyone loved Zelda's cute distressed yell even now i think ,so cute
By the way, about the whole giant Ganon thing, the developers actually specifically reused the concept for.... I forget what its name was, but it was the first major boss in Mario Galaxy, the one with three legs that shot Bullet Bills at you. That was where they knowingly reused the concept.
Megaleg.
This is such a dramatic battle that it's always sort of stuck with me. We had the official game guide, which had such goodies as how to play the Kakariko Village music on the in-game ocarina and lots of art that wasn't in the instruction manual. The best of these was the dramatic painting of Link and Ganondorf's battle in the castle.
My brother loaned it to some of our neighbors and forgot to ask for it back before they moved away.
Many years later, I noticed a 3DS case with that same painting on it. My now-husband noticed that I liked it and bought it for me as a birthday present. I still have that case on my 3DS, years after its hinges broke off. (The hinges on the case, not on the 3DS itself.)
I can't believe they didn't bought back the concept of scaling Ganon for Breath of The Wild. A game where scaling things is so important. It would have made the Dark Beast Ganon fight so much more interesting.
I summon you back to give your opinion on the new final Ganon
Replayed this game last week for the first time in probably 15 years. So much easier than I remembered. Literally 0 deaths in my play through. Still fun though.
Also ganondorf was mind numbingly easier
Master mode is a much better challenge for more experienced players, and is recommended especially because of a entirely new layout. You can play master mode in either the 3D version, or by getting the GCN ROM.
I recommend the randomiser. The game will present a real challenge when the items you need aren't where you remember them.
Yeah, I'm often amazed by how things that seemed hard as a kid are much much easier as an adult
Zelda games have never been hard. The hardest thing is figuring out the puzzles, and they are rarely difficult.
8:23 beautiful the dark knight reference 😃👍🏻
Actually, that's frase that always exists way before that film.
The Link scream sounds like he had waaaaayy too much coffee and Zelda was worried for his health.
It would have been AWESOME to fight Ganon as the Fierce Deity.
I like ocarina of Time but when I was a kid Majora's mask Ben always my favorite and it stil is today's Majora's mask is my all-time favorite Zelda game
Honestly, by that point I had been playing with the Goron sword for the last three temples. I was just confused and aggravated I had to reequip the sword I had been using for so long 😂
Seeing the pants just flying up out of the rubble 😂
Even though he wished for death, he was unable to die. So eventually, Link stopped thinking.
So I always had the big Goron sword and when I got it, I only used that. So when I lost the master sword I had more of a who cares attitude. I was 10 when this game came out.
You can't kill him without the master sword though
@@chuggaa100 technically, the master sword didn't kill him either hence they banished him. But in my mind at the time, the big goron sword was stronger and better
Yeah, once I got the Biggoron sword it was the only one I used, so when they took the Master sword away I was like, oh come on I wasn't even using it, did you knock it out of my inventory?
Swanky, have you seen the recent video from GameXplain taking about how remarkably similar the Ganon’s castle area looks to Tarrey town from BOTW? Could be just a clever Easter egg but mind blown lol.
What a lovely pair of trousers!!!
This is a nitpick, but you kept referring to Ganon as Ganondorf. The big pig monster is Ganon, dorf is the small human form
Cough cough gerudo
@@Bruh-pg8dq Gerudo are humanoid, even if they aren't really "human"
It is still ganondorf though, just in a different form, unlike the other games with ganon
@@jumponeverything bruh it literally says Ganon when he transforms
@@Bruh-pg8dq gerudos are human because they carry the x and y chromosomes that are compatible with hylians who have chromosome compatible with humans. Hence they're all humans.
i think calamity ganon was a throwback too, he was almost the size of hyrule castle
And so Link continued burning without dying..........
And eventually, Link stopped thinking.
Link: so the mighty gannodolf's most powerful barrier is just this dinky thing lol.
Ganno: fuuuuuuuuuu-
G A N N O
4:26 Is the bloodcurdling scream Link or Zelda?? (I know he said link but it sounds like zelda screaming from the sidelines and I’ve never played OoT so I wouldn’t know :( )
The completed scream is Zelda's. He was talking about the infinite first frame of Link's cry.
Imagine stretching this out for ten minutes lol
So ocarina of time could have a shadow of the colossus style last boss?
Hell yes why didn't they go on with it wtf
System limitations. It would not have been able to render the whole thing at once so it would not have worked.
@@iciclecold2991 Just use fog.
Considering I played the Zelda games in order as a kid... Ocarina of Time’s final boss in comparison is a bit of a pushover. I remember borrowing the game from my cousin and beating it in one weekend. Still, those were the days.
Honestly i've always felt that the game as a whole is way too easy. It's as if they were afraid to actually make any of the combat difficult.
LyfSukz Outside of Zelda 1, 2 and BOTW, I’ve always felt like they were on the easy side. Nothing wrong with that, of course. Skyward Sword has it’s moments too, but is unbalanced.
@@danielevans7439 BOTW?
That Game is Brutal,Dark Souls level brutal!
Aryan Descendant I said BOTW is one of the harder ones.
@@danielevans7439 Oh okay.
It is possible in The Windwaker to get past the barrier and play the game normally, speedrunners do it.
what I did always wondered tho:
How will the world look, if you leave the black and white, frozen in time, Hyrule castle in the Windwaker?
Will the world still be frozen in time?
I hope one day we get an ocarina of time remake so the dev's can do the castle sized ganon fight they wanted to do
4:25 ULTRA COMBO!!
"Link gawking at absolutely nothing for all of eternity"
And it burns, burns, burns...
I've always wanted what would happen by chance a Kansas City game if what would happen if Ganon like was going out the Zelda without and link to even do nothing when the firewall was down is that possible
I used to beat ocarina of time 3d myself with only 3 hearts. I used a few fairies usually throughout though
Myfirst time against Ganon:
Me using only the Goron Sword.
He get's rid of my Master Sword
I'm standing there "So what?" and keep hitting him 🤣
*gurgling burning Link noises*
I really wanted to see Ganon in the lava!
Okay. Somebody make a game where you battle Ganondorf’s pants.
I never really played Zelda, but this makes me willing to play through some of them

Majoras Mask vs Ganondorfs Pants XD
The true source of his power is his LEATHER PANTS!!!
Wait... so if it wasn’t for the limitations of the N64... Ganon's OoT beast form would canonically be the size of a castle, and would probably be the most overpowered version of him to date? I don’t know whether to be thankful or fear for my life...
Link almost sounds like he doing the backwards long jump
link would end up like anakin after his fight with obi Wan on mufifar after that burn 🔥
Doesn't Ganon's tower collapsing looks like the goddess temple expansion in the beginning of Skyward Sword?
So he would’ve been just as big as breath of the wild envisioned him huh? That’s pretty cool.
I always used the Megaton Hammer on Ganon.
1:19 shadow of calossos style
Ganondorf is one of the more haxed and broken video game characters
@joshua spriggs *DORIYAH*
Not even close.
Can we focus on something more important like, who's ganondorf's mother? Kotate and kogame are surrogated mothers so who's his real mother and how and why is he like this in the first place?
That's definitely Zelda screaming. Not Link. Sorry to be nitpicky. Lol.
The glitchy repeating sound is links scream, and the loud high pitch scream at the end is Zelda. Just to nitpick slighty more.
Indeed! I was referencing the repeating, stuttering sound as it is actually Link's extended scream starting and getting cut off every frame.
But we can spawn this stuff in the lava, right? Or elsewhere in the game, for glitchy purposes
I finished ocarina of time 1 week ago and suddenly you start making videos about the same game
7:56 halarious
Way brighter than I remember.

Zelda’s scream is way worse. Unless that’s what you were talking about.
First time I fought him I had the Biggoron sword so I was completely fine
That moment when you get so mad at a broken game that you make a video about it.
I never fought him :( not even now weird I know

But we're still waiting for moon lords legs
Beast Gannon in the catelas
Ah yes, bad design walls. The true enemy of old games.
Dude, I could never beat ganon. Big Goron sword and all.
If you murder the spirits it disappears
If this is Ganon’s most powerful spell, why doesn’t he just create a bunch of these fire rings and make them close in on Link? Free win, right? Obviously from a gameplay point of view that would be impossible, but in-universe that would be the most logical course of action.
Should call it a plot barrier
I just beat that game last night
