The amount of time, effort, and money that goes into these tests is fantastic. Aaron I hope you have everything backed up in case UA-cam ever goes full crazy because the community would be at a great loss without your videos.
What a great review - thorough, articulate and fun to watch. I was researching optics for a gun I am about to buy and now I'm going to screen your uploads for a review of the gun itself. Thanks very much for this quality review!
Currently have a DPP on my MK12 running piggyback on a U.S. Optics scope. The dot and window work fine. The battery compartment being on top was the big selling point for me. Good points in this video..
When shopping for a handgun optic, I really couldn't decide. I ended up going with the Vortex Viper as my first. The reason for choosing it was because I did not like the glass tint on the RMR and the Delta Point Pro was too big. I carry the Viper on duty daily and have had been in two situations on the ground where I was certain it had broken. I was wrong both times. It has been a tough little optic so far. Having said that, now that I am growing and relying on optics more, I will most likely go to the RMR and get used to the tint. As always, I appreciate the time, money, and effort you put into making these videos. You are truly one of a kind. Thank you.
STOP... you bought it because it was cheaper... Stop sending your money to a Communist nation that turns around and uses that same money against us by subverting our elections and lobbying our politicians to take away our liberties. But hey! You saved a hundred bucks! Stupid fuck
@@al1engreyassh0le4 that logic is stupid. Your gonna hate on someone for going with a deal on his first optic because it wasn't made in america. Damn I hope UA-cam doesn't drop your channel! I find myself coming back too yours and rewatching videos as a reference material. Your consistency and integrity is second to none. Thank you!
You don't have to cycle thought to change direction of intensity. Hold it down for a several second count and it will change direction. I've had batteries in mine for over a year but I don't carry it. Since its motion activated that may be a factor. I have the 7 MOA Delta reticle which allows me to handle speed and precision.
After three days of looking at videos on the DeltaPoint Pro you have, in my opinion the very best and complete review. I like the testing process you have developed. I bought a DeltaPoint Pro today for most of the pros you stated. I understand your drop testing but for me not a decision point. But still good to know. Thanks great job.
I own 2 of them! Outstanding red dots. My only complaint is the height of the optic "body"..makes it more difficult to co-witness irons and such. In regards to the drop..the optic does have a minor shield protecting it. So it is likely able to withstand a less direct impact.
Thanks for the review. I run RMR’s on my striker fire pistols and was tempted to pick up a DPP for my C2, given the fitment and lack of need for plate - but I think I’ll stick with an RMR for it as well.
Love your testing process, and find it in credibility valid. My concern here, is that Leupold recommends replacing the shroud if the optic is dropped. The shroud can become deformed, and not provide adequate protection for a second drop. Can this survive a single shoulder height drop? It seems that it did, on both units, but I’m not sure from the info you provided. I’m not a cop, and won’t be carrying this particular optic, but would like to know if it’ll survive that single drop.
Handguns are not long range weapons, so I want an optic for “QUICK” acquisition, short range work inside 50 yards. That is it’s job for me, along with staying accurately put where mounted and sited in. I have litteraly tried them all and for me, the Delta Point Pro does everything better. The window is a bit larger, the point on the triangle is so easy/quick to get on target, and the battery is on top so no stripping of screws like some have while changing batteries on other optics. Of course the Trijicon is my second choice, but i now own two Delta Points. One a year and a few months old that works like new. I shoot 500-600 rounds about every 6 months on each of the two handguns I use them on, so I just change the battery then. Dropped from the bench at the range “accidentally” onto the cement floor, and it didn’t even scratch it. I put a clear silicone bead on the shroud , It now bounces if dropped. Oh Btw, you can break the glass on a RMR Trijicon. I have seen two cracked. When I asked how it cracked, one said "I don’t know” , and the other person, a girl, told me it fell out of her holster while driving her four wheeler. These may be the only two in existence that have ever broken, but i am now convinced that they are not unbreaksble.
Given the auto shut down feature I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has used a DPP long enough for a battery to actually go flat and what time frame/circumstances were involved.
Damn, I just bought this optic because it’s a direct fit for my Sig P320 M18 and already mounted it. Can’t return it. Guess it’ll be a range optic and when I eventually get my ccw I’ll get the rmr type 2 for my Sig p365. Edit: got the holosun EPS carry for my 365.
It may be in the paper I just have not read it yet but have you tested the Aimpoint T1 or T2 on the Unity Tactical ATOM slide? Not sure if it is something that would be considered duty use worthy.
I would love to have a rmr, but my budget does not allow for that kind of expense. I am looking for a less expensive alternative that still has “shake awake” capability , thanks for another quality video.
Hey what's up Aaron. Great vid. I'm with you on the trijicon rmr. I run rmr 07 and a vortex viper on my glocks. I'm not sure, but have you done any reviews on the vortex viper? Would you?
Great review as always I have a few subs to different Chanel’s yours is one of my favorites! Have you considered doing a review of Radian model 1 Rifle? Would love to see one from you there’s not a lot of reviews on it would really like to see your take on it. Keep up the great work brother!
Do you think that the optic height, in relation to using it with iron sights, will be as much of an issue on milled handguns versus the Glock MOS? My understanding is that due to the use of plates, the MOS tends to make optics sit a bit higher than if a slide was specifically milled for them.
One of the issues I have with the Delta Point is the single button system. Remembering which way the optic brightness is going is an issue for somebody like me. Great review!
I’ve got Glock 19 Gen 5 running delta point pro optic wanting to add co- witness sights what are the ones your using on that Glock , want something that stays low in the sight glass but still usable as back up .
As a strictly recreational shooter who likes a red dot on a target pistol, I far prefer the Deltapoint over the RMR. It's just so much easier to pick up the dot. Learning curve and frustration factor are close to zero for the Deltapoint. Yes, I did try them both. It's definitely the way to go if you don't mind the larger size or need the ultimate durability of the Trijicon.
Reading your white paper now. I see you've tested the Vortex Venom. I would like to see your review on the Vortex Viper. I have one with several thousand rounds through it that works great, no eletrical failures as you reported with the Venom. It does have that "oval" shape to the top of the sight, so it might fair just the same as the Deltapoint on the drop test. I would just be curious to hear your opinion on the optic. As always, great vid and thanks for the info!
Two Questions? Leupold themselves in their marketing video, mention this optic available with a built-in rear sight. Why did you not opt for that and simply co witness your front sight? Seems like it makes more sense. Secondly; will you possibly be testing the Holosun 407k or 507k at all? They have the same mount so I’m very curious to see how they hold up.
Yeah man you should check out the holosun like many MANY of the guys in the comments have been talking about. I have this optic. The RMR wasn't an option on my CZ PCR b/c of the narrow slide. I've been happy with it, in general. Like you said, the battery life is not good. It does look like the 'safe' window is 3 months. Not a real expense issue, but at the same time, why can others go up to 2 years and they can't?
@@monster19761997 My pistol is a PCR (75D Compact). I like it. I wish the brightness adjustment method was different. Two buttons vs. one. But it works well. Nice clear glass and big window. Though, the way the top of the window 'juts' out, does cause some printing.

Does this optic require a Trijicon Mounting plate on Glock MOS models? I've paused the video at 0:43 but cannot tell if that is a Trijicon mount or not.
Update as of Sept 28 2018. I bought another delta for another mos Glock. Use plate 04. Use the short screws, to mount plate to the slide. Use blue loctite. Then, mount the delta point, using the long screws that came with the delta point. If they don't have loctite on them. Put blue on them. Sometimes it'll feel like your screwing them down, but the threads aren't catching. Take the Dela point off, and try and to reseat it. Then try and get the screws to catch the threads.
