Another excellent informative video thanks Bill. Amazing how often there is a little detail overlooked which spoils the major repair, but you always find them!
Hi Bill ,, what's the brand of your new soldering iron please ? Ive recently got a ferris (aldi) brand soldering iron and its a butane type and it seems to work quite well. It heats up quick and does the job. Also the motors in this black 5 are they the can type motor. Ive just stumbled across another place to source free or cheap can motors besides the cd drive motors and thats in the electric door mirrors on cars and they have 2 of them in each mirror so even if you get a broken one (plastics) theres a good chance the motors are still in good nic. Cheers from John in Australia.
They are quite fiddly, but nice job, and frank comments! How were the pickups on the tender? I often find these quite simply are never opened out and most just don't make contact when the axles move side-to-side. 'Yours' seemed OK over the points so at least some of the tender pickups must have been working. Thanks for sharing. Al.
please tell me Hattons did not do this? is it possible to convert a hornby mechano three rail to a standard 2 rail? got a duchess that i would love to run.
Swear during this era of Hornby they were purposely over complicating things... Absolutely awful designs some of them. That looked less fiddly than the T9s though. Good job 👍
I just don't get why such impractical designs are chosen. OO scale electric trains aren't exactly a new thing... As someone who has spent his career as an engineer it disappoints me to see such poor choices by the design team and ultimately the manufacturer. Great job as ever Bill.
Love the 0-5-0 switcher working the shed 😉

With all my other subscription of various sorts, this is always a must view channel if a new video appears. Well done Bill.
Another good repair and fun to watch.
Another great repair well done Bill.
As you often say bill, someone’s been in here and had a wee fiddle. 😁 nice job, like the new soldering iron.👍
Another great repair and service Bill

Was it a "Pre Owned" (AKA second hand) loco from Hattons? As a lot of the stuff on their website is often in poor condition!

Tender pickups were just dirty. The connections on the drawbar were a mess and needed straightening out though.

It is possible to convert 3 rail to 2 rail but not by me!
