Just FYI: It's called a, "protection circuit" and not a, "voltage regulator". :-) A voltage regulator is exactly what its name implies: feed it a slightly higher voltage than what you want at the terminals -- ex. use a +5 volt voltage regulator on a +7.4 volt battery, and you'll get a steady +5.00 volts regardless of the load or the input voltage -- provided that it stays above +5 volts). A protection circuit on the other hand, generally has multiple functions when installed in a Li:Po or Li:ION battery. 1: Short circuit and overcurrent protection -- it almost instantly shuts off the output (exactly as you demonstrated) to prevent cell damage and/or an unwanted fire. 2: Over-discharge protection. Cuts off the output when the battery's terminal voltage reaches a preset low; this helps to protect the cells in the battery from sustaining damage caused by discharging them too much. 3: Overcharge protection. Cuts off the power from the charger to prevent damage to the battery from overcharging. Hope this info. is of at least some use to you. Take it with my compliments! :-)
I have the factory hubsan battery’s but I also have a question, I recently started using hubsan drone again and 2 of my battery’s I bought for the hubsan drone are charging for a long time but hubsan is dieing as soon as I take off, but the original battery I got with the drone works as it should for being about 5 years old, am I charging those other battery’s wrong, or are they just old and should I not worry about it
Because this is basically a toy quad that a lot of kids with no RC or battery experience will purchase, it is a safety tool to keep the battery from catching fire in the kids hand. They will either on purpose or accidently, short the battery just out of curiosity. Kind of a safety and protection for the company itself. This quad is not built for aggressive flying or abuse.
I have looked flippin everywhere for the tenergy battery and I cant find it pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssseeeeeeeeee leave a link!! Thx the video was SUPER helpful.
Although the protection circuit(not a voltage regulator) is a drawback, it is a safety feature to try an attempt to avoid LIPO fires when overloaded due to overload and voltage spikes. These are caused by overloading the battery by high loads caused by extra load on motors by props and other factors. When battery is in the 6.8 to 7.0 volt range and aggressive stick movement is done under high load conditions it may trip causing the drone to fall from the sky. It has happened to me once and I was lucky that I was under 10 meters when it occurred.
Does the newer Zino and Zino pro batteries have this protection cutoff circuit in them?It would explain why my Zino pro fell out of the sky for no reason...
Zino pro batteries circuits fail and overcharge the cells. It shows full battery but they are not, usually puffed. I had 2 failed within a year with same issue failed board. Loads of videos about those and how to use off shelf battery instead

I think it's a great idea for the beginners that know nothing about their batteries. I have a h109 and the voltage got low and it didn't just shut down. It landed and shut down like most copters are supposed to do.
It can cause the quad to lose all power as if you disconnected the battery. It's more likely to trigger the lower the battery is on power. So just something to keep in mind. There are plenty of aftermarket batteries that do not have this protection circuit.
r u sure that the battery u bought is for drone? cus that battery only got 10c rating, this kind of battery usually just use for ur transmitter but not for ur drone
Slydad there is actually a 3400mAh pack. Its not made by tenergy. It comes with a set of washers to shim the main PCB and is 25C I believe. A couple of guys run them with good reviews. Do a search for 3400mAh hubsan H501 battery and it should come up. I was thinking about trying the engpow 3000mAh battery for the mjx bugs. I know the connector would need to be swapped but I think it might fit the battery bay. Whatever pack you decide. Stay away from the hubsan branded ones.
I would plug my stock battery in and the lights would flash once and then nothing, I tore it apart and checked the cells and they were fine, I just omitted the protection. Works like a charm now.

I have more than 14 drones and all modern ones go descend automatically at 7v ! So since this hubsan is older i get mine at 7.10v close to me and with subtle trottle !!!@@QuadsMods
Either way, if you come to think about it, when you burn a motor flying up, your ass still going down and with just 3 propellers spinning who knows what direction your going.... its just a misfortunate event lol Edit: Atleast when you do go down, you dont have a burnt motor to add up to the destruction.
Angel gallardo its harder to locate the drone if its not powered up. If the drone stays powered up after a crash its easier to locate. There is always risk when airbourne. ESCs fail. Propellers fail. In my honest opinion its simply a better choice to not have it there. If you are cautious enough there is no need for it in the first place.
