A GPHG award-winner for the price of a SEIKO? CIGA Design Blue Planet watch
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 сер 2024
- in 2021, CIGA Design's U-Series Blue Planet watch became the first Chinese made watch to win a highly coveted GPHG Award - the Oscars of the watch industry, if you like, putting the brand amongst such respected past winners as Audemars Piguet, F.P Jaune, Czapek, Rolex, Tudor, Zenith and many others. Yet this unusual, award-winning watch costs less than $1,000!
CIGA Design recently sent me a Blue Planet watch to take a look at. Check out my full hands-on review and let me know what you think in the comments!

That packaging is so creative! 😮
It's an impressive watch and you get something unique and for $800-less-20%, but I'm satisfied just admiring it from afar.
I'm from the Philippines, so I liked that i could see my country on the dial. 😁
Great watch, very interesting thank you for this film
Thanks Ade 👍🙏
Another great video brother 👏 I need to check one of these out in person, it’s a very cool design for sure!
Thanks man 🙏 it's definitely something different and I'm pleasantly surprised about the materials, the quality of the finishing and that packaging. It shows what Chinese manufacturers can do if they put their minds to it.
I've got this and the 'Lunar Exploration' version too, it's a really cool piece- had a lot of comments and compliments on it in the past coupld weeks
I haven't seen the Lunar version - I'll have to check that out. There's a new ceramic and gold version launching later this month and I've got a video coming on that one.
To be honest....A packaging channel would interest me. I'm a bit obsessed with it.
Haha well if my watch channel doesn't work out.... 🤔
I've just bought one on Amazon. Many years back I've come up with this idea, now they've realised it, could not resist :)
Interesting review Simon, don't think I'll buy watch though but very different from the norm.
Thanks Joe and glad you enjoyed the video! 👍
Very clever design indeed. Very artistic and the effort should be applauded. Not sure about its sheer heft and or the legibility drawbacks. I guess once used to how it shows the time it becomes more clear to the wearer, but not one I'd consider for myself.
It wears surprisingly well (and smaller than the dimensions would suggest) tbh. But it's not a piece I could see myself wearing often.
Check GPHG 2019 they submitted the watch with the americas dial and it did not win. The 2021 version looks way better. I don’t think is a shame if it’s an Asian watch it’s great they represent their map. I like the planet the same.
Interesting - I wasn't aware of that so thanks for the info 🙏
Personally I love a bit of Pink Floyd!
Me too....but it's definitely an acquired taste 😂
@@Escapement24 I wouldn’t disagree with that. Watch looks nice but a bit of a beast for sure! Would still like to try in the metal though. Top marks for highlighting a completely unknown Chinese brand.Shows what can be done for sub £1K. 👍🏻
It's not one I could see myself wearing regularly (not if ai want to get anywhere on time anyway 😂) but it'd be a great one to take to Redbar meets 👍
@@Escapement24 You read my mind!
You @ the Bristol Redbar coming up Simon?
It's just not a forever piece sorry kind of
😂
