Well done that man for posting this great vid. I'm pleased you got to see the wild camels on the drive down. I love it here in Siwa. That's why I sold up and moved here a year ago. What an amazing place. What amazing people. What an amazing life i have now. There is no end of things to do and see. Whether it's a visit to a hot spring or floating on the salt lakes or going on a desert safari with traditional cooking and music or walking round town or the sunsets from Fatnas or looking at the star studded Milky Way or going on mountain treks or visiting the Oracle, Mountain of the Dead, Alexander the Great's tomb or....there's no end to it and you definitely won't get bored. I'm sure Gabriel and anyone else who's been here will agree, pics and vids don't do the place justice. Siwa isn't just an amazing place, Siwa has an energy that i cannot put into words. It can only be experienced. It can be a bit of a trek to get here from Cairo especially for us older folks but, well worth the 10 hour taxi drive (£110 or £150 by micro bus) which we booked through local expat friends. Cairo taxis will cost much much more. Otherwise, there is a Cairo Siwa bus. Costs less than our taxi but a lot less comfy! For now, Siwa Airport only does chartered flights. Best time to visit is October to end of May. The summer is VERY hot. We clocked 49C on a couple of days then averaged out at 44C. January is the same as a good British summer (without the rain) with the evening chill which is eased by sitting by an open fire with some great company. the Safaris will cost depending on numbers and if overnighting. just about everything else is walk-in. In addition to Gabriels' vid, I hope this helps any would-be visitors.
Nice Shirt. This guy is an inspiration for all backpackers in the world. He is a genius at finding cheap hotels and shows that to travel you don't need money, you just need intelligence and the desire to travel!!!
You most definitely need money; as much as backpackers think they're top of the tree in terms of travellers, flights, train and bus tickets, food, drink, insurance aren't free plus some of us don't want to be homeless any longer so we have rent/mortgages to pay as well.
@@georgeharalambous261 He needs nutritious food as he hikes and climbs a lot. He is unmarried and has no kids so he can afford to eat good food and keep his body in good condition. He does save on hotel rooms when he goes to places like Egypt where you can obtain good hotel or hostel rooms and food for cheap prices.
Your an amazing man, the amount and up to date videos you post is just THE BEST, as far as I can see most u tubers are posting videos long after they have left an area, this means there is no point in engaging with them, no point in suggesting places to visit etc.
My preferred routine is to wake up, film, edit that same footage in the afternoon or evening, get it uploaded and hopefully post it sometime before going to sleep. Then I wake up the next morning with a completely clean slate, caught up and ready to get started on the next one. I hate having mountains of old footage backed up.
Siwa Oasis was worth the almost 4 hour drive. What a great place, plenty of adventure there. Great music throughout the video. The Cleopatra pool was just magical, loved the greenery all around it. Another fantastic experience!❤✨
Gabriel that Siwa Oasis looks so refrershing considering it's out there in the hot desert sun. Stark desolate desert is right on the money buddy. Yikes! You're the man Gabriel. Travel on brother.
Thank you Gabriel for all your work the last few Excellent Videos ( including this one) I've been watching are one day after you filmed them. I'm relaxing this Sunday watching you in Egypt yesterday, on the other side of the world.. Fabulous !!,Bravo Gabriel Traveler !!! - Bravo !!!
Heads up about flights, there right now are super cheap flights with EasyJet to Milan from Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh (South Sinai) and Marsa Alam (Red Sea) if you would somehow like to stay longer or fly out from somewhere else! Around 100 euro, and from Marsa Alam only 68 euro.
I remember as a kid when we lived in Libya the oasis had so much salt you just floated . I can't imagine traveling as much as you do without crumbling to pieces & becoming a total basket case . Took me 2 weeks to recover from jet lag from visiting Sri Lanka . I was the walking dead the first week back .
I went here it's amazing! Travelled through the black and the white desert. That town is incredible with the mountain of the dead I think it was. Such an off the beaten track destination 👍
Wow! You’re near the Ténéré! The Yamaha motorcycle that Itchy Boots is having customized for her next season is a Ténéré named for that area. What a coinkidink!
Ahhh. Beautiful Siwa. I traveled there by overnight bus from Alexandria 14 years ago. I have a happy memory of hearing the donkey carts going past my guesthouse window but it looks like they are a thing of the past now.
Is Egypt possibly the cheapest country in the world to travel? I would not be surprised if that is the case. This looks totally amazing, will have to visit this place sometime!
Did the bus expirence from Sharm El-Sheikh to Cairo. I think it was like 8 or 9hrs. Siwa to either Hurgada or Sharm is like crazy long by bus. I think 14 to 19 hrs but you can then go diving in the Red Sea. Best in the world. Siwa salt lagoons look awesome at least in photos. The other option is Libya which is only 50km away, but getting a visa will most likely be a challenge.
Nice vid tx. I know you've been to those high interest Dynastic temples and pyramids etc, but most of us weren't watching then. It would be great to take us there if possible plse. The recent controversy about their real ages and purposes etc now makes that stuff so much more than just suposedly tombs for pharaohs etc.
I agree, they're definitely worth a revisit, especially since that was fifteen years ago and I have a better camera now. Not planning to on this trip but I'll consider going back sometime in the future. I did revisit the pyramids a few years ago: ua-cam.com/video/z_5CqnmSUFk/v-deo.html
Ok great, as well as the pyramids there's so much more amazing stuff to explore there. For example Ben from Unchartered X talks about those mysterious boxes at the Serapeum or how Ramses statue has perfect symmetry cut granite, evidence of power saws used for stone cutting blocks and massive lathe use etc. Lots of great video content for sure.
Hi Gabriel, Amazing small oasis outside the city of Marsa Matruh. The fort must have been impressive at one point, yet it still stands the test of time in many ways. I don't know what plans you have but you're close to Zanzibar which has an amazing tropical climate all year round.
You are truly the traveler. I'd not want to be there more than one night! Was the water clean? It looked a bit iffy to me. Also Gabriel you look a bit thin. I am concerned about your health there. Drink lots of bottled water as it is very hot and dry. Stay well.
The security situation and checkpoints must be because of the instability in Libya. Libya has Roman ruins in many of its cities, not sure if foreigners would face issues there.
I would never trust a rickshaw driver to hold my phone and backpack while doing a vulnerable activity like swimming, but obviously, there are some honest ones left

He finds great deals, but I doubt his lifestyle is cheap. Just the plane tickets every month must be around $2k.
Be serious. He overpays. Anyone can use booking and Airbnb. He pays too much for food also

Now you're talking! This is great to see. I especially like that you are planning to stay there a few days. You are really off the beaten path. Kudos!
Siwan people are Amazigh ( Berbers ) . The Siwan dialect is similar to the Amazigh dialect spoken in Morocco in the region of Sous in the south .
Thank you for showing us how amazing Egypt is. Enjoy
Watched your last 4 videos and was patiently anticipating this one, great job throughout
love it! old school Gabe. 13$ rooms $3 dinners!
Always always always with the tasty beats!!!! Thank you brother!!
Siwa. is indeed a paradise few people know about. Thank you for showcasing my country’s beautiful oasis

Reminds me so much of Ouarzazate in Morocco, with all those sandstone buildings and colorful carpets.
Wow G, that's an awesome video. What an amazing place and how cheap is the food! Thanks for sharing.
Amazing indeed! I also enjoyed seeing those camels on your way there.
The Oasis scene 3D immersive would be like an authentic desert mirage from a vicarious lifestyles POV.
Amazing😊👍thank you Gabe
wow thats got to be the most sophisticated and intricate fortress you had on your videos. seems it can contain a whole city of people.
Wow those food prices are great and it looks so delicious. Gabe really knows how to balance the books.😊❤

That first scene riding through the desert was epic, great music!

simply amazing bro
I'd have to go to the new Egyptian museum at the pyramids.

I can't believe how cheap the taxi fares are. Is gas subsidized by the gov't? If not, once he covers the cost of gas the guy basically makes nothing.
Good question, I'm not sure what the price of gas is, I'll check next time I see a gas station.
