When i was young and played it i can remember just blasting straight into a corner full speed, hitting the wall at 180 mph and just kind bouncing off it until i was back to a straight stretch. Lol...its so fucking funny to see.
@lldkll if you brake late you'll have to slow down below the minimum speed for that corner, that happens to me a lot, for example the Aremberg corner in Nürburgring, normally you are driving around 200-240km/h, once you approach it, you have to brake until you reach 100km/h, the minimum speed for most production cars in that corner. But, if you brake late, you'll have to keep braking untill you slow down around 60km/h, or else you'll get off track, while other racers come out of the corner at 100 km/h and they gain speed faster. That's why braking late is bad. If you brake late and everything seems cool, that doesn't mean you are braking late, that either means the other cars are bots designed to brake early so that you can overtake them, or are new players who just brake early. So you aren't braking late, you are braking just in time. So next time try braking late while driving behind a pro who also happened to brake "late" or maybe try braking late while driving alone in time trial.

To be fair, the #1 mistake is kind of a good one to make, even the F1 drivers, who are known to be really skilled and technical, aren't afraid to try and explore the limits of their cars on any circuit they race, even if that means going to the grass sometimes. But hey, there's a reason why practice sesions exists, so that you can almost freely drive around and make any mistake before the race, and then have the perfect race without errors. PD: i said "almost" earlier because in real life, trying to go way over your own, or your car limits, not only will cause an accident, but also put your life and others as well in danger, so try to keep the reckless driving in just sim-racing xD
This is quite correct and especially in kart racing you push out every corner until you take it too fast. Then you know what exactly is your karts (or cars) limit. Bad idea during race of course

Thank you for the vid Viper. I also find myself guilty of not setting up the car correctly and not giving my opponents the space they need especially in RX which imo forces you to walk(drive) a very fine line between contact and giving space
note: you losen the brake at 7:13 way before the turn in point. That causes your off track even without a higher speed after slipstream ^^ But I am grateful for your summary for clean racing, especially the pit exit line. It annoys me so much with other people.
My main mistake is that Im very occasional driver. Might not touch the wheel for days, just in case i got tired at work and driving car IRL on the way home. In that way I tend to quickly forget the tracks, especially if I play them on different games. But after about 30 mins by the wheel I feel comfortable doing some hotlap in a retro openwheeler :D
Hey bro. i've been racing sim games since i was 11 years old. Right now, I'm 19. Anyways, whenever I race, be at sim or carting, i always tend to figure out a line that no one knows or tend to use and i somehow manage to take advantage of the situation and make it beneficial for me, even though some say its impossible to pull it off and that only real pros can actually do it time and time again and everyone keeps asking me how i do it even though, honestly i don't really know what I did in the first place! So my question to you is: Is it really a good thing or a bad thing that i can somehow manage to find a line that no one has ever thought of using except for the pros even though I'm actually a rookie and I actually am able to pull it off no matter the situation?
That "respect personal space" example at Spa is exactly what happened to me the other day...same way, same track and same corner!! I was on the inside and he crashed me....so frustating
I miss the techno intro music you had before, but I got say that it is very nice to see other people enjoying AMS2, most definitely worth buying the game and supporting developers which give us these great racing games.
When I first started sim racing, I could relate to all of them besides, the disrespecting peoples space. Now, I can only relate to number 3. As you race more and more, it gives you more time to experiment and improve racecraft. Which is what I have done. Now, i just have to work on improving my speed, which everyone does all the time. Lewis Hamilton, max verstappen, Charles Leclerc etc.
5:25 Yeah "few minutes" usually end up for me in 2-3 hours where im trying to desperately tune the car in frustration with all the guides from the internet but resulting in no success. I guess I just don't feel the cars at all.
The only mistakes I made are most of them (including the late braking and sometimes not respecting the opponent’s space), the one I made the most is the wrong setup, mostly because idk how to setup the car correctly, so I leave it on default setup
Personaly i am more of braking late and a bit cutting. Sometimes also depends on the racing lines in tracks if sometimes we have to pick the curb in the entry and the exit of the corner
One of my personnal demons is using the same break point on inside line than on outside line (in duel), which obviously means braking too late and crossing the whole turn from in to out, usually taking the outside car with me for a ride in the grass. (hopefully I haven't came into online racing yet, I'm doing this on AI)
You're the master! Master Yoda! Very informative video. I mean I learned most of the racing skills against the AI (I don't do online racing) by observing the opponents (AI and real racing). But when I was learning to play racing Sim like GT sport, I decided 1st learn how to drive a car (GT sport) and it became difficult to learn/practice all the fundamental skills like acceleration, braking, turning, maintaining corner, defending, attacking, all of them simultaneously when car is in motion with (AI race) or without (time trial) the opponents when I am new. Especially when I am driven to win or passionate to play the game.
I thought the one at 8:50 was pretty good. Lunging is always dangerous but it is a great advance technique to use such shouldn't be used by less skilled drivers. In good hands it's legit
Similar to the slipstream one I often break too late because I have found a quicker way out of the previous corner. This invalidates the ordinary breaking point. Really annoying one as you feel you are onto a better lap time just to ruin it in the next corner.
Since I mostly play PC2, something I knowingly do wrong is not use enough of the kurbs. Those suckers really get you in that game so I have to have a slightly wider apex and not as much runoff as I would any other time.
awesome video but where is the real number 1 mistake. Braking late when someone is on my rear bumper (aka choking, getting nervous, losing my racing line).
So what are you supposed to do on Monza for chicane at the beginning of the race when people are still pretty much side by side? Brake early and let them pass. Then you can watch the carnage unfold
#3. Though and though. I join late and get almost no time to do anything. Or im tweaking the setup and never get to finish leaving it on half tweaked settings.
Easiest way to pretend divebombs is to protect the inside line at all times if you have a car within 1 second of you, they live by the stupid Senna quote of the gap and they think every gap is there, so its better to not give them any at no times

In number 3 you cant setup a car for a race in Gran Turismo Sport when you are playing daily races or FIA races you are on a fixed setup and you are pretty limited on what tires you can start off with.
I always make the same mistake of not braking early enough after long straights when making a sharp turn. It's hard for me to judge depth perception in a video game.
Project cars 2 as well, I was racing Monaco yesterday and I kept getting a cutting penalty on the first turn then I realized I was cutting across the yellow pit line where they come out of the pits into the first turn lol......ooops
hey man love your videos! they makes me be better in racing games and i love those games, can you please tell me what game is that one in minute 4:29? or if u can show us a list of those games
#4 I respect often too much which makes me lose places alot, #3 Yep that's totally me, #2 Sometimes I do this, #1 never online but I am very very aggressive against AI. Great video, thank you!
I don't think I can consider myself a pro racer in racing games, but these aren't mistakes I make very often, if at all. Also, you have a tendency to exaggerate your point quite often in your videos. Specifically on your slipstream braking clip, you had the braking to make the corner on attempt 3, but braked differently than you did the first two laps (your second lap you actually braked early) by letting off the brakes far too soon. I agree that's something a driver has to keep in mind after a slipstream, but unless they are a beginner, I don't see these mistakes happening much at all. Overall I liked the video, because they are useful tips for a beginner who needs to learn consistency and proper racecraft. Perhaps you should make a video that shows what a beginner should do for an entire session at a track, from coming in and finding a setup, to working their way up to the limit, to running consistent laps within .2-.3 of each other, to driving around other racers and proper overtaking. I think with your format, if you put those ideas together as part of a process instead of just pointing out the mistakes, it could be beneficial to people learning how to race.

Lewis Hamilton, max verstappen, Charles Leclerc etc.
fuel and tyre have a great impact in your break point too =]
5:25 Yeah "few minutes" usually end up for me in 2-3 hours where im trying to desperately tune the car in frustration with all the guides from the internet but resulting in no success.
6:19 hey, that's the track used for the slipstream mission in GTPSP!
The too late braking when going faster than usual happens to me at Hockenheimring all the time on the long left cornered straight
“Respecting Personal Space”
Assetto corsa track day lobby: Exist.
Random guy clearly trying to hotlap: Also exist.
Me: Tandem?
In good hands it's legit
thats good information, thanks again for your racing classes
#4 is so me on GRID series, while i got pole position on one WSR round but still start 5th or below
"Respect personal space, don't break too late."
10-year-old me playing Gran Turismo: *breaks by crashing into other cars in the corner*
Man, I love your videos
Similar to the slipstream one I often break too late because I have found a quicker way out of the previous corner. This invalidates the ordinary breaking point. Really annoying one as you feel you are onto a better lap time just to ruin it in the next corner.
11:00 I think we cut corners because we think that we are faster when we go wide we think that we accelerate faster that’s why i think
Since I mostly play PC2, something I knowingly do wrong is not use enough of the kurbs. Those suckers really get you in that game so I have to have a slightly wider apex and not as much runoff as I would any other time.
2:27 "Doing the Verstappen"
What sim the pit line was?
awesome video but where is the real number 1 mistake. Braking late when someone is on my rear bumper (aka choking, getting nervous, losing my racing line).
Sometimes one also cuts a corner trying to clip an apex and missing a little too far inside. Smacked many a wall doing that. -w-
So what are you supposed to do on Monza for chicane at the beginning of the race when people are still pretty much side by side? Brake early and let them pass. Then you can watch the carnage unfold
#3. Though and though. I join late and get almost no time to do anything. Or im tweaking the setup and never get to finish leaving it on half tweaked settings.
7:52 On GT Sport, players love to do that, because penalty system is shit
Yep
Easiest way to pretend divebombs is to protect the inside line at all times if you have a car within 1 second of you, they live by the stupid Senna quote of the gap and they think every gap is there, so its better to not give them any at no times
Forza 6 and 7 are no strangers to dive bombing either. ISuckAtDriving has lots of videos showcasing the conduct of those "fine" specimens.
I ALWAYS get penalties because people keep divebombing into me in corners causing me to lose control and somehow lose my SR level ffs
It's literally 1 AM here in brazil
Tartaruga Voadora that sucks it's 6 am in Bosnia 🤣
@@brzi_zeko1623 why am I still awake? I mean we're in quarentine and we have nothing to do in our house so we stay at 2, 3 AM awake trying to do something
Tartaruga Voadora same thing here,I've played dirt rally 2.0 whole time 🤣
e só esperando meu g29(que deve chegar amanhã), pra aproveitar esse mês de maio que estou de férias no trabalho e ñ posso sair por conta da quarentena.
@@brzi_zeko1623 lol. I'm just watching some videos waiting my F1 2018 to finish downloading. It's 1:23 AM now and I still waiting
In number 3 you cant setup a car for a race in Gran Turismo Sport when you are playing daily races or FIA races you are on a fixed setup and you are pretty limited on what tires you can start off with.
Love the Xbox original intro man! Very nostalgic.
I always make the same mistake of not braking early enough after long straights when making a sharp turn. It's hard for me to judge depth perception in a video game.
Honorable mention #3: in a rush, giving all the gas after a corner and spinning
Well in Assetto, there are penalties for crossing the pit exit thanks to the kiss my rank on servers
Project cars 2 as well, I was racing Monaco yesterday and I kept getting a cutting penalty on the first turn then I realized I was cutting across the yellow pit line where they come out of the pits into the first turn lol......ooops
my own top 3:
top 3: staying on my lane because i'm too used to role-play
top2: hitting the rev limiter because it's eargasmic
top1: Powerslide/drift
Number 4: Respect your opponent's personal space
Gran Turismo 4 Special Conditions AI: did y'all hear something?
**5 second penalty**
“Personal Space”
Cops : I’ll give you that.
*Starts Ramming*
hey man love your videos! they makes me be better in racing games and i love those games, can you please tell me what game is that one in minute 4:29? or if u can show us a list of those games
I think with your format, if you put those ideas together as part of a process instead of just pointing out the mistakes, it could be beneficial to people learning how to race.
me in gt sport : respecting personal spaces
others : haha divebomb go boom boom
Honeslty, the redbull ring would be so sick backwards imo
2:59 look closely to the mirror, Shingo bumped his car
1:26 actually that pit line rule is in assetto corsa, well at least on console xd
I have this issue where I always brake too much when I go on corners, how do I correct my behaviour?
