The Spirit of the Rose
Sarah Burton takes the notion of the female form and deconstructs it to discover the darkly romantic woman underneath. Her silhouette grows organically in three dimensions, as strong and natural as a flower. England’s symbol is the rose, a symbol of strength and fragility, forever on the brink of dishevelment. This is a collection steeped in the frayed nature of reality and the beauty of imperfection. She is worked with eaten-away lace, skeletons of dresses, frayed coats and jackets, poetic knits and laddered lace.
Sliced lacquered rose jacquard coats and jackets, pleated leather skirts and dresses, bonded leather rose cloqué tailoring, engineered lace cut out knitted dresses with laddered pleated ruffles, distressed and shredded silk rose cape coats, 3D leather rosette dresses, exploded petal printed organza dresses with frayed edges, slashed organza dresses with 3D rosettes, distressed and shredded embroidered trailing rose dresses.

Dior, Lanvin and Vionnet spliced together with a dash of Helena Bonham-Carter thrown in. A very commercial line far removed from fine art which tells me that the house may not be doing so well in sales. just a guess though.

Au Contraire. I'm sure the days of women wanting to wear costumes are long gone. It opens the brand to more consumers, few work at this level of sophistication.

Disappointed, I was in the McQueen boutique in London few weeks ago, I could not find anything I was interested. Now I know why. McQueen is a hard act to follow, but at least try to put a few pieces of art work type of clothes in each collection. I used to walk into McQueen boutique, and just simply admired all the clothes, be it that I am no model figure to wear them, but I kept going back to find something I could buy for me and I did. Sarah clothes are good, but they are not McQueen. Very sad and dissapointed.

in Paris where i live people dress in a very simple way,
most are afraid of bright colors,
and of close that is unique and art-like,
they think it is screaming for attention and that frightens them
I can understand you , I bought his heels and blouse when he was still alive and active , but never forget he said it many times on Interviews, there will be no mcqueen without me , "it will never be a house of Alexander mcqueen when im gone" , so the industry keep it alive only because of money. They just sell his name, but it will never be him. Im so lucky i still have the blouse . I adore him and his Art too much
@@viking15555ify Alexander's style are duster, dark, goth and extravagant. They can wear it on the streets, on stage, everywhere. Most of his ready to wear are colorless. Black , or nudes

I thought the lace dresses at the end were very reminiscent of Lee's work. Sexy. Gorgeous.
