A sensual and light approach to construction. The silhouette is free, unconstructed and empire -line. Capes, hoods, puffed and bell sleeves. Tiering, smocking, scalloping, pleating and pom-poms. Frilled and frayed hemlines fall to the ankle or knee. Trousers are narrow, cropped and boyish. Exaggerated collars and hoods are fastened with ribbons and bows through oversized silver eyelets.
Only McQueen can bring this much history and emotion into a piece of clothing. I'm loving this!
I keep coming back to this collection, it's just stuck in my mind. So beautiful.
I think Sarah did a GREAT job. Diggin' the original McQueen archives from the past, take it as inspiration and make it more softer, less darkness, light and wearable. Scandinavian huntresses meets the feminimity itself. Personally, I love those lace up boots.

I loved this show it was erie and deja vu in a perfect way because Bjork(the music artist being played) and Mcqueen did a show together "Fashion Rocks" and other collaborations but with "Fashion Rocks" and this show the hair styles, dress style along with the color palette were very similar. I think Bjork and Mcqueen were close, they channeled each other, showed people that they were important people and this show like, a reminder, to me, was a never forget what his fashion means, even though he is dead and someone else has taken his spot. Very touching to me.
I love how people sometimes are "Sara just killed the McQueen legacy - I hate it - I want him back" blablabla... Well, first of all, we can't bring someone who's dead back. Second of all, I guess you were McQueen's right arm for over 14 years right? Oh no, Sarah was. I think she knows what she's doing with his legacy more than me and you and people who wait for a typical "McQueen-collection" season after season, I have just one advice for you, stop waiting. Btw, I love this collection.

Those two feather pieces, the ones that were meant to represent moths are just absolutely stunning. Wonderful collection and love the dark fairy tale vibe :)

The bjork soundtrack perfectly matched the collection, which was wonderful. It would of been nice to see some ethnic diversity among the models though.
Yeah but 'diversity' for the sake of diversity, ad nauseum, is sort of defeating the purpose of true, organic inclusion. Not every vision involves every person and that's fine, it's not like this collection is some sort of racist trope. I realise fashion has a problem with racism but as an artist I understand wanting a consistent aesthetic for a particular project. It's not always sinister.
This is so Alexander McQueen I mean Sarah burton was like lost trying to keep the strangeness of McQueen, and this collection is pure Alexander McQueen

Burton can't win lol. If Chanel or DIor had done this work, people would have been popping off for months about it. But McQ is an impossible standard, every time, so it's just... Tuesday for her. Must be galling sometimes!

It's Bachlorette by Bjork. One of my favorite songs of hers. If you like it, try listening to Voltaire's version of the song as well titled Bachelor(ette) . It's a wonderfully different perspective. You can find both here on youtube.

sarah did an amazing take over after lee's death. it becomes more softer and feminine but still lacks the scary thing he incorporates in every single piece of clothes he creates. but im not complaining considering the condition of the fashion industry right now. were being less creative is the it thing. banality and minimalism seems to be the chicest thing but not done in the right way by most of the designers. i'll blame this all to raf and the heads on dior. they trying too hard to expose his quite ok but lacks the wow factor couture clothes. i'll just praise him if he makes it to mcqueen's standard and be the artistic director of this maison.

I'm sorry, I acknowledge the fact Sarah Burtons revived almost everything including the braided hairstyle from old collections, at the end of the day, it just feels like a revival of old things made into a balanced collection.
Well not entirely, I did like the sparkling rhinestone dresses and the ones with the cotton ball ish surface detail, but otherwise the silhouettes and techniques and surfaces are all from the past, some very recently, like the f/w 12 Elizabethan one with the pearls....
She made Magic with that amazing Bee collection and The Elizabethan one, and I loved her old Fall collections with the horse Heeless platforms and visors and amazing layering of fur , but Now for the last 2 or 3 seasons, it seems a little lost and vague in relevance with the Mcqueen DNA in my opinion...
What do you want her to do...totaly re-invent the brand every season? A brand like Alexander McQueen has to be cohesvie from year to year without staying exactly the same and I think she did that to perfection. Loved the whole thing!!!!!
I'm not asking her to reinvent or change anything, I'm just wondering if they can do anything else keeping the brands DNA in mind. The Bee Collection and the Baroque FW Elizabethan collection was amazing, Even the F/W Collection before that with the layers of fur, Hooved Shoes and Visors.The last 2 collections with the Checkered Race Track Tribal Thing and This one Seems like they've either clearly trying to reinvent the brand themselves or Completely Copy and tweak existing styles. I love this brand and I Purely wish them the best with all their endeavours, That doesn't imply I'm not going to voice what I feel since I'm passionate about the brand for a long while now.
