It's all about image and I understand. That's why even in sim racer type games with "full damage", the cars are still a lot more durable than something like good ol' BeamNG.drive

We need engine damage mods for overheating! When normally driving I find the temps rise much higher and faster when the engine is under load, not stationary.

Aluminum headed cast iron blocked engines are the most easily damaged by overheating, and its quite easy to overheat such engines so that you don't notice any difference in the way they run in the short term, but they will have premature parts failure, especially head gaskets. Its also possible to overheat an engines valves without the coolant temperature being noticeably high, although nearly every engine made after the 80s has valves made of such advanced alloys this is nearly impossible. High performance European cars from the 60s and 70s are particularly known for overheating valves.
Not need to be damaged. If you got a heavy cargo e drive in a hill (eg. special cargo from stavanger to oslo), the engine will overheat and get damage.
Dener Montibeller Klann I just did a 61t cargo with the starter Iveco truck 320hp, 2 axle only. Uphills were a battle, I had to make sure not to stop in one, the temp did go very high, but no engine damage.
This game is good but it is missing so many real life problems that truck drivers face. Police inspections, physical damage, engine servicing. It'd be cool if you had to take your truck in for an oil change or a head gasket replacing.

After nearly 8 years I'd just expect a little more vanilla content as opposed to map expansions and a few trucks. However, they may be a small studio so I'll cut them some slack.

I wish SCS would add a cold weather season where your truck has a bigger risk of slipping and you have to hold the start button for a bit longer until the engine starts.
Depends on your engine too. Sometimes my temp goes almost to red with a weaker engine(390-450hp) and a heavy load climbing hills in places like Norway. And that's with no damage. Also, that "normal temp" seems pretty high
normal temp is 180-190 on all trucks. Their tempature gauges like to sit before the hot line as a normal operating tempature. Not sure why, but trucks in real life are like that too even though the engine doesnt overheat.

I drive a Mercedes actros in real life, and it is normally driving at 94° on the motorway. On the hill it got to 102 but it's OK, the coolant can go up to 140 before boiling
They should add like small dirt roads and mud on the road like you can get stuck or something, and ur friend can tow you ik it sounds like spintires but its good idea, and if ur windshield could get dirty and u need to turn on ur wipers to clean it.....i have so many ideas...
A note, you can’t normally overrev and overheat an engine in a modern truck. They have a protection that doesn’t allow you to go past the redline w/ just putting it to the metal. A proper test would be to get to speed with an automatic transmission then shift down harshly, that way you’ll immediately overrev.
Low engine temp in cold area such as Island and high temp in warm area like Italy would be great. Making brake and engine overheating feature won't be that difficult.
Yep, usually when you crash your truck and still drive afterwards, you can see the temperature getting really high and once it gets to the red the engine shuts off

I've managed to do this myself a while ago,i damaged the engine quite a bit and then just ran at full RPM's and wonderd if the Temperature gauge woud rise,it sure did and the screen in the middle was reading over 100 degrees celicus and the truck stalled a copule of times but i thinl thats becuse i had an damaged Engine and not becuse i was overheating.
I have not played ETS2 for about a year or so, but when I tried blow the engine nothing happens. Had it in neutral gear, full throttle untill it ran out of fuel.
I’ve actually overheated my engine and it wouldn’t start no matter what I tried for like 15 mins to get it started but all it did was crank then turn off, I only got it started for like 5 seconds as I accelerated then it shut off ;c
Hitting the rev limit won't overheat your vehicle, the rev limiter just cuts out rpm's. What you want is a damaged radiator and hard acceleration, then braking over and over again. Try this in a game like beamng.
It’s likely due to the license agreements with the manufacturers as they don’t want there trucks to be damageable as it could impact on their reputation.

SCS needs to clean up the cargo deliveries. I mean picking up and delivering goods at the right places. Delivering a milk tanker to walbert makes no sense. Please SCS this would improve the game’s realism greatly..
Never say what you would like from a game, they have other plans for the game. Work with mod developers, give them money to make those mods. Maybe then, the developer would not give a crap about it.

i did have an overheat in ETS 2 when i use volvo in the extreme road map mod, and the temperature did rise until the red bar, but theres no warning comes out *btw if you want to try to rise your temp XD try to change to lowest gear at the higest speed, or simply damage the engine like what he did 😂😂😂 sorry for my bad english

Dead battery simulation would be cool too. And with realistic sounds of the starter clicking, cranking real slow, etc.

To overheat you labour the heavy haulage up hill for a long time. Find a good big hill

The trucks are licensed so if a MAN truck in ets2 had a giant dent in it and frame bent the real man wouldnt like it because of a bad product image
Tires do have a damage in them, at 100% damage they only lose a bit of grip in the rain iirc
