Great video, great information; but i have some 3 highlights as a local:
1- Food in Rwanda is actually great once you know where to find the best of what you like at the prices you can afford.
2- Man if you earn $1k a month, you can live a chill life in Kigali especially if you live in a detached house, most decent people in Rwanda earn less than $500 a month.
3- Moto taxi is more expensive than buses, buses are the cheapest and will take you around Kigali, Moto bikes only have one advantage(they're fast).

I was wondering abut the food, too! Wherever I have travelled in my life, local food has ALWAYS been better than what was available in the UK. You just need to know where to get it!

Food in Rwanda is much poorer than in UK, except for the price. I live in London and visit Rwanda regularly, as that is my origin. Rwanda needs to do a lot more in food and service.

Rwandan meat generally doesn't meet international quality standards. Little attention is paid to the age of the animal at slaughter, stress levels at slaughter, or even the cuts of meat being used.
Local meat is tough and tasteless and almost never used at the best hotels, who tend to prefer importing from South Africa.

Is it safe to eat from these cheaper food places?

Yes. Food safety in Africa is surprisingly good because the people tend to overcook everything. Ive never gotten sick in Africa compared to places like thailand.

$600/month in a country like Rwanda is not cheap. I only consider a country is cheap if you can live there good and decent life for less than $200/month.

Locals can live comfortably for $150 a month, and some for as low as $90. But I assume an American wouldn't be happy with that.

I visited Rwanda in the month of February 2023. I stayed for the entire month. Most of the Rwandan women were rocking natural hairstyles and no makeup.
