    Patlabor in general needs more love, its an excellent franchise with amazing designs, the griffon and zero being some of the best designs.

    The TV series was a fun "problem of the week" style show with a decent amount of humour and likeable characters. One of the more unique and easily enjoyable mecha shows.

      It's an early production I.G show, a lot of the talent that went to work on Ghost in the Shell also worked on the different adaptations. The first two movies are quite a bit more serious in tone to series but they're still both pretty damn good. It's a confusing franchise to watch as the first O.V.A, the Movies and the T.V series (almong with the second O.V.A which finishes the story of the T.V series) are all in slightly different continuities.

    I was thinking on buying some of the Patlabor Moderoid kit but now that I see them while I see some improvement over the late 90’s early 2000s kits from Bandai, on the “cloth” joint parts being plastic and not rubber which helps with the articulation, but the fact that de Shield is all white as well as the point of the big antena, y a bit of a bummer, way to similar to the Bandai ones, and the usage of water slide instead of rough transfer or simple pill off stickers. Specially since I recently build Shin Getter and Tetsujin 28 (80’s ver) model kits from moderoid and I got very pleased with the models with all being molded in the correct color and having little to no sticker or decals and adoring instead pre-painted details like the 28 nombres on the forearms of Tetsujin.

    Having grown up with Patlabor in the 90's, I've always been a big fan of Bandai's 1/60 scale kits (and yes, they are still fantastic models to this day). But after purchasing Goodsmile/Moderoid's HAL-X10 (Patlabor the Movie) kit and seeing more and more of these Goodsmile kits, they are really growing on me. They are very well done and have a LOT of nice small improvements over Bandai's classic kits. I need to buy more of these. The packaging art is terrific too as done by Master Hidetaka Tenjin.
    Thank you for your awesome reviews. It just feeds more into my modeling habit and addiction so, thanks (good thing and bad thing). LOL

    I really like the Moderoid box style.
    I got nothing more than that. I just really like how unorthodox Good Smile are with this line's box design.

    Aside from Bandai's 20-year old master grade, they also put out a 1/48 scale kit in 2014. It's much more detailed rather than anime-accurate, but it looks great. I have it in my backlog.

    Bandai's 1/35 scale MG's are about the size of a 1/100 Gundam. They are old and the inner frame is really weird but they look pretty good with a bit of work. They are hard to find now but Bandai does seem to still do a production run every year or so.

    The original non-grades were also 1/60th. The Bulldog was a basic construction mech. Can’t wait to see the Helldiver. I wish they had continued with the 13/5 MG kits. Have the Ingram and the Griffin. I am also really glad the joint covers are actual plastic and not the vinyl crap that Bandai used..

    Always wanted to build a diorama of the fight in the first episode. I have the Bandai Mg and I waited for years to have an Mg Bulldog for my diorama.
    At this point this kit is lots better to do a smaller diorama like in the anime!

      First O.V.A, the series and the first 2 movies are three different continuities. The second O.V.A is part of the T.V show and i can't remember where the third movie comes but it's not that good anyway.

    • @AltronKopaq
      @AltronKopaq 3 роки тому +1

      just the original ova where everything started first, the films, then tv+the second ova which in reality is just the final stretch of tv . Not really hard. Release order is always an option, but TV has a nicer end to the series overall instead of the third movie, which was itself a plotline adapted from earlier on in the manga versions events. Its a microscopic franchise anyways with minimal complications with the easiest distinction just being that the original ova and movies are their own thing, and the tv run is its own thing.

      It is a police robot. Japanese police used .38 revolvers. In addition, they are not really allowed to use their gun unless absolutely necessary due to the chance of a giant robot hand gun causing property damage.
