【Cross Talk】 田中泯×高谷史郎～『TIME』を語る【ONBEAT vol.19】

坂本龍一と高谷史郎が共同でコンセプトを考え、坂本が音楽を、高谷がヴィジュアルデザインを担当したシアターピース作品『TIME』。出演に田中泯、宮田まゆみ（笙）、石原淋を迎えた同作が、今年の春、生前本作の為に全曲を書き下ろした坂本龍一の一周忌に日本初上演となった。文筆家／アートプロデューサーの小崎哲哉を聞き手に、田中泯と高谷史郎が『TIME』の制作過程や、坂本との交流について語った。

■田中泯　
1974年独自の活動を開始。「ハイパーダンス」と称した新たなスタイルを発展。1978年ルーブル美術館において海外デビュー。80年代、旧共産圏で前衛パフォーマンスを多数決行。国際的に高い評価を獲得。1985年山村へ移り住み、農業を礎とした舞踊活動を現在も継続中。2002年に映画初出演。以後映像界でも国内外で活動中。2022年に、田中の本格的な長編ドキュメンタリー映画「名付けようのない踊り」（犬童一心監督）が公開された。
■高谷史郎
1984年から「ダムタイプ」の活動に参加。1998年からダムタイプの活動と並行して個人の制作活動を開始。パフォーマンス『明るい部屋」（2008年初演）、『CHROMA』（2012年初演）、『ST/LL』（音楽・坂本龍一／2015年初演）を制作。個展「DUMB TYPEI ACTIONS+REFLECTIONS」をポンピドゥー・センター・メッス（2018年）と東京都現代美術館（2019-20年）で開催。2022年、ダムタイプは坂本龍一を新メンバーに迎え、ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ日本館で新作インスタレーション＜2022）を展示。2023年、ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ帰国展をアーティゾン美術館で開催。
■小崎哲哉
ICA京都のウェブマガジン『Realkyoto Forum』編集長。京都芸術大学大学院教授。著書に『現代アートとは何か』（河出書房新社）などがある。
Ryuichi Sakamoto and Shiro Takatani jointly conceived the concept for TIME, a theater piece with music by Sakamoto and visual design by Takatani. The piece, which features Min Tanaka, Mayumi Miyata (sho player), and Rin Ishihara, was staged for the first time in Japan this spring on the first anniversary of the death of Ryuichi Sakamoto, who wrote all the music for the piece before his death. Min Tanaka and Shiro Takatani, interviewed by writer / art producer Tetsuya Ozaki, talked about the production process of TIME and their interaction with Sakamoto.

■Min TANAKA
Tanaka began his own expressive activities in 1974 and evolved
"hyper-dance," emphasizing psycho-physical unity of the body. In 1978, he made his international debut at the Louvre. In the following decade saw his avant-garde performances in former communist countries highly acclaimed among cultural and intellectual pioneers of the time. He moved to a mountain village in 1985 and he continues his dance activity with farming as its basis to date. Since his first film appearance in 2002, he has continued expanding his scope of activities in moving images nationally and internationally. "The Unnamable Dance," a feature documentary film featuring Tanaka, directed by Isshin Inudo, was released in 2022.
■Shiro TAKATANI
Takatani is one of the founding members of the artist collective Dumb Type, which was established in 1984. Besides Dumb Type, Takatani began a parallel solo career in 1998. In his solo activities, he created his own performance La Chambre Glaire (2008), CHROMA (2012) and ST/LL (with music by Ryuichi Sakamoto, 2015). Dumb Type's first large-scale solo exhibition, "DUMB TYPE | ACTIONS + REFLECTIONS," was held at Centre Pompidou-Metz in 2018 and Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo in 2019-20. In 2022, Dumb Type created a new installation 2022 for the Japan Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia, welcoming Ryuichi Sakamoto as a new member. "Japan Pavilion Exhibition in Tokyo-From the 59th International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia | Dumb Type, 2022: remap" was held at the Artizon Museum in 2023.
